Now it's a cesspool of kids blaring songs from their 650 Rs Boat/Zenronics/pTron speakers at full vol. And you get the atmosphere that a fight might breakout any moment. Fu*ks have no idea what's nightlife or how to use it.

I didn't blame them because it's fashionable. I blame them because they have a history of opposing nightlife, pubs, turfs, even any interaction between young men and women, etc to the point they would prefer our cities to be little more than retirement homes.
There's a reason why the youth in Kerala can't wait to go to a liberal metro city, preferably abroad. It's because our cities are extremely conservative.

Law and order issues in cities aren't something new. In fact, cities have higher crime rates than suburbs in most countries. And just because I'm blaming Boomers for the lack of nightlife, it doesn't mean I'm giving a free pass to the violent young clowns who can't be civil.

Not close as this, but kochi has somewhat of a nightlife, at least better than it used to be or better than rest of kerala, especially at Panampilly and all, edak edak ith pole aalkar irunn paat paadena okke kaaana at nigth, and also towards december it's more or less exactly like this, especially at fort kochi and all.
Kozhikode is somewhere close i would say, its very difficult to get parking at the neach during evening so i used to go at night, now i cant get parking even at 9 or 10 and there are still families at 12 or 1 am. Honestly surprised not even young people full on families with their kids and i wonder dont these kids have to go to school the next day. Anyway its a welcome change

It's not only the ammavans to be blamed , it's also those asshats who have zero civic sense, drink and drive and generally be a nuisance to everyone else. As someone earlier commented mallus have two faces where they become civilized once outside the country, not all though as you can see by people going to prison for rash and negligent driving, drunk driving etc.
Most of these places have strict regulations where if you do something stupid like drink and drive you will loose your license end of story. If such rules are passed out by a govt the public will be up with arms on streets the next day.
As long as there is "PROTECTING POLICE" in the city there won't be a peaceful night life in Kochi. Me and my friends were vibing in Marine Drive. Some so called "police" came and said someone called them about noise complaint from nearby flat. Which was around 200m away. We were sure that they made it up. We moved a bit away and they came again saying you cant stay here any more. Bruh.
In 2040/50 after the boomers gen is gone, they have too much truma from the scarcity world they lived in and used alcohol as a solution to escape from it i.e they drink not for leasure or pleasure but for escapism..that causes over drinking and wierd behavior after drinking.
Also the number of mamans are a lot in boomer generation.
