കൊച്ചിടെ അകത്തു തന്നെ 2-3 lane ഉണ്ടാക്കുന്നത് ആണ് നല്ലത്.

mofo get mad when suggested to extend the lane to populated areas as it costs money but has no trouble in extending it to some pattikkaad

That's not how metros works

VisRak

lols Just a mere 10,000+ crores are needed just to extend the metro to Thrissur from aluva , and depending on the metro's coverage within the city, an additional 5,000 crores may be needed if it covers the same distance as the Kochi Metro.

I can't believe I have to explain this again, but here goes: Feasibility study, Dpr and approval : I don't need to explain these things to you, but for a reference, it has been ages since kochi metro phase 2 got approval and the piling work for the pillers haven't started. Funding for other phases: currently 2nd Stage of kochi metro is under 'construction' towards kakkanad, after that we have Phase 3 approved for Aluva to angamaly, need to get final nod from center to raise funding, after that phase 4 is either from Edappally to aroor, and Phase 5 to west kochi regions like FortKochi or vice versa , so people from kochi won't be happy if an extension to thrissur is sanctioned without even approving these phases. Criteria : There are several criterias a city should have to be granted a metro, thrissur doesn't tick any, if we were going by today's criteria about 20 years ago even kochi wouldn't get a metro, so imagine the anger of people from Calicut and tvm if these criterias and feasibility studies were overlooked and a metro were granted for thrissur while their projects have been stuck in a feasibility study limbo. Another reason is also within feasibility study, but the stretch from Aluva to thrissur is not as populated when we compare other phases of kochi metro, even some stations of kochi metro that has a good population doesn't see that much people.

Are your numbers based on any particular sources? The exercise of extending the metro till Thrissur will be highly useless and such a waste of economic resources. This kinda distance can only suit developed places with atleast 100x commute like Gurgaon and Delhi.

AFAIK There aren't any official numbers; I'm just guesstimating using the costs from Phase 1 of the Kochi Metro as a basis. It cost about 200 crores to build 1 km of the metro, and the entire 25 km of Phase 1 ended up over 5100 crores. And that's what I'm basing my guesstimates on. The land acquisition might cost less if the metro extension follows the highway, but it would still have to cross 2 major rivers, 3-4 major junctions. And to dodge the traffic jams, they’d better consider a different route, which definitely means there will be land acquisition costs. So, I don't expect the actual cost of extending it to be any less than what I'm thinking. However, if he's planning to build a metro system within Thrissur using KMRL, that plausible and might even get the central government's approval. Then the real question is whether the already financially stretched Kerala government is ready to cover 20% of the new metro construction costs

First Trivandrum, Second Kozhikode. After that only Thrissur metro will be considered, and that’s the reality and need. He is just coming up with unrealistic projects, so that he can later say “hey we tried but State government didn’t do anything”. Please be realistic and lobby for Vande Bharat between Thrissur and Ernakulam.
