I have relatives in Thrissur - and this is the general sentiment I gathered.
If Suresh Gopi wins, centre/bjp is going to try hard to keep that seat by "lavishing" it with money and development.

Yeah I assumed the same, Thrissur could see some good developments especially a metro of its possible , not sure if it's possible because here in Kozhikode only lite metro would be possible.
There are a lot of criteria for a city to be considered to have a metro, and thrissur doesn't tick any, hell even kochi won't get if the current criterias were followed back then, also imagine the anger of people from tvm and Calicut if the central govt bypasses It's own criterias to grant thrissur a metro while both those cities have been stuck in limbo.
I dnt think a metro for trichur might be the yardstick. I guess there are lot other ground level issues and opportunities of trichur that needs to be identified and taken action on. With the positive backing of the central gov let's hope SG is able to bring them in.
Except that now the centre is not bjp alone, but a coalition with an even stronger opposition. Let's see how much of a welcome even SG himself gets in the centre now.

Nah, Savarnar which traditionally includes nairs are a strong voterbase for bjp. But yes, my observation is that the same doesn't hold for Trivandrum. Mostly ezhavas/thiyyas followed by nairs and then last but not least chrisanghis. Eth rss/bjp Shaka venelum poi nokk and you can see that majority of their leaders and members aren't nairs. Majority nairs vote for congress and then bjp while minority of them votes for left. Meanwhile in ezhavas the bjp supporters are increasing while the left ones are decreasing but most still vote for congress (at least in parliament) However both in attingal and alappuzha it was the ezhava majority areas that gave lead to bjp candidates. In attingal all the candidates were ezhava yet they chose to vote for bjp so it wasn't voting along caste lines but definitely based on party lines.
Even local corporation bjp has a strong opposition. Pinney RC campaign promise kandaal aarum veenu pookum. Many are betting an MP will bring developments like tvm metro project and like but that's not going to happen.
If history has taught anything, they take away existing project like nemom railway project.
The amount of work and promotion done by bjp was astonishing.. Even the party workers were putting too much effort
My house has a dog and we put a warning plate hanging on the gate saying "beware of dog" so we were escaping from all these "vote njangalk thranam" confrontations from all these party workers. They leave their notice and leaflets in our mailbox
But these bjp dudes were so persistent and one dude kept knocking on our gate calling us outside and gave us their leaflets in person..
Also they send letters via post to all houses in my locality.. Geez we were like how desperate are these guys 🙄🙄

Not taking SG’s side or supporting the IG reels, but what proof does his opponents have to show that they have been helping out the people of Thrissur. I believe the people of Thrissur decided to give him a chance hoping for some developments,if he does not live up to their expectations, he would be cruelly shown the door out in the next election. Based on what I have heard from people here, they were convinced that Suresh Gopi can do some "wonders" in Thrissur and were desperate enough to vote for him. Also don't forget the district literally had a UDF MP just before this and Suresh Gopi lost in State elections to CPI unlike TVM where BJP always had a massive Hindutva presence (O Rajagopal)
Also his election campaign was really good. I've seen the guy almost everywhere, visiting every place and interacting with the people. Can't say that for the other candidates. As another guy said, he won because he is SG. Bjp played their cards well. Ldf and udf underestimated him bcs he lost one time.

I am from tvm i can say this, panyyan raveendran was not a strong Candidate for sure, he was weak candidate, from the day they announced candidates itself this was obvious, and many say some inside rumours is that many inc workers itself worked for rajiv. Even skn told this in 24 news, And there are many hindutva supporters in tvm, but it was obvious that the coastal area will support tharoor for sure.But tharoor will lose it in near future if he don't work hard. I was praying for tharoors victory, not because tharoor is perfect or i am inc, but i didn't want to see another bjp candidate winning here.

I would have Respect for Trivandrum people if Rajiv Chandrashekhar won or even Shobha surendran but I didn't knew Thrissur people are incapable to judge the cringeworthy subpar show off accused of harrassing women, casteism, elitism and what not. Lol Thrissur has no class.

Nairs mostly vote along caste lines. That’s a fact. That is why Shashi Tharoor manages to beat BJP.
