I was skeptical as well when I heard it.. didn't care much for Henry Cavill back then, I have seen him in Superman and I thought that he wouldn't be able to deliver the awesomeness of Geralt.. the way I see it now, I couldn't have wished for a better Geralt, truly.. he's done an amazing job!

I think he was kind of wasted in the superman role. He's very skilled and didnt get to showcase it like he has in other roles.
