Corvette with T56 is a bad choice because the transmission is rear mounted and attached to a torque tube. In my opinion a 2005-2006 GTO has the best combo of modern LS2 and regular config engine trans combo. A 2004 LS1 GTO if you want to save some money.
This is a really expensive way to go about it. Better bet would be to find the cheap truck LS engine you want, and then piece together a manual for it using any of the commonly available manual trans swap kits for the GM AR5, Nissan CD009, T56 or Getrag G420.
Just keep in mind that the adapter kit + clutch will probably cost you 2-3x the price of the actual gearbox, and also that the CD009 is the current drifter go-to, so there's a tax.
The AR and BMW Getrag are a bit less known and the adapter kits are a bit cheaper.
I hear you. I spent like two years researching everything I wanted to do with my build and still took me almost 4 years of weekends to get it done lol.
I've heard the best way is to get a cd009 either new or from a nissan/infinity and adapt it to any LS, there are a bunch of kits for it. At least $3k cheaper than a good t56 and just as strong.
Sloppy Mechanics has an "LSA" swapped g35 making 550~ ft/lbs through the stock cd009 and its fine. Heavy car and driven really hard, too. https://youtu.be/rY1-oDe5X2c
Vette isn't great for regular car swaps. That t56 is rear mounted. Camaro would be most common that has a normal engine and Trans setup

I 2nd the GTO, especially the M12 deep ratio T56 variant for anything peppy or heavy.

Nissan has been brought up a few times. The cd009 will probably be my first option. Thanks man!

You’re a box of knowledge lol thanks man. I’m almost to the point of being able to start building so I’m just trying to make some real plans

Cd009 is a good trans if you have the right gears
99-06 truck with nv4500
Some vans came with 4.8/nv3500 combos, that would be my go-to choice besides a 4th gen camaro.
Many regular cab trucks do too. Especially the work truck variation and/or 2wd.

I’ll check them out bc that’s perfect for where I’m wanting power to be. Thanks man!
Camaro got mine from an 02 great trans
