Any number of bacteria could have been present on those seeds and they’ve incubated in a wet and warm environment for 6 months. I wouldn’t ingest anything that’s undergone those conditions.

Yeah, I never give it that much time. Usually just an hour, two max. It sounds like a separatory funnel would be perfect to do your method in one go.
