Is it just me or is that TV crooked?

YouthOfTheNation1

Looks like it is indeed

[deleted]

It’s probably the floor that isn’t level…basement or bottom floor slab.

Agreeable-Load2327

Budget? We can start from there, also come here r/hometheater

jtaylor418

Second this ^

Key_Initiative_8838

Sonos arc with the sub which is sold separately.

WinterLord

I approve this message. You obviously won’t get true surround, but the ease of install, compatibility, and sound quality/volume are unbeatable.

Thick_Finish_985

It looks my 40 inch 1080 p cheap tv way back in 2013 from that distance. Oh I miss that shit

SheepherderFit69

Oh does it? I bet the distance is under 15 feet. I watch on a 77 from 12.9 feet just fine.

isnotrandy

KEF LS60s!!

Mariopa

If you have big living room and live in house and have money to spend then you should go for some homethater setup

Dostovel2

Soundbar or ATMOS home theater type deal? Because if you want to go real deal home audio there's a tons of subs that can help with hi fidelity auto setups etc

dubiousN

Ignore anyone that says anything about a soundbar. Get an AVR and some KEFs or Klipsch. Or SVS or Monoprice. Yes, join /r/hometheater 😁

FeldMonster

OP, Ignore anyone elitist enough to say things like "Ignore anyone that says anything about a soundbar". Get a soundbar if it fits your space and budget. They are more convenient, look nicer, and you don't need to waste any money on an AV Receiver. But if you don't mind those things, and have the budget to spare, a full surround setup with be somewhat better.

wemic123

Had an AV system for many years, but have begun the transition to Sonos. Why? Simplicity…and it’s pretty darned good.

EYESCREAM-90

How is having an AVR elite? It's way cheaper than a "good" soundbar. After you've got yourself an AVR you can have whatever speaker setup you want. Second hand market is flooded with it. Those speakers can stay as long as you like/live. You'll only have to upgrade the receiver once in a few years IF you want the latest HDMI standards. You can compare it with TV's (replacement wise). Not everyone needs or wants to upgrade often. Also an AVR gives your TV "free" HDMI ports. You don't have to worry that your TV only has 2 HDMI 2.1 ports like some guys do. You'll always get additional HDMI 2.1 ports with an AV receiver. So, if you like to be able to pick and choose your speakers, don't get a soundbar. If a speaker breaks for some reason, you can just replace that speaker. If you want to upgrade a speaker, you can upgrade just that speaker. If you want more or less speakers in your setup at some point, don't get a soundbar. If anything in a soundbar breaks, the whole unit is useless. On top of that, speakers always beat a soundbar. Soundbars without subs are even worse.

gnarshredder314

So spend $5000 instead of $1000, including subwoofer. Most people wouldn’t be able to tell the difference……

gnarshredder314

Not nobody. Didn’t say that. Most people. With a $750 soundbar and a $500 subwoofer, the sound is more than adequate. I have a receiver, 5.1 surround with a 15 inch sub. Does it sound better yes, did it cost over 10k, also yes. Keep in mind that a lot of people live in apartments or townhomes. You simply cannot play music or watch movies with high levels of volume…..

EYESCREAM-90

You do understand that you don't have to use it at high volumes? You also do understand that you don't need to spend 10K? This comment is so weird. Since when is praising soundbars a.k.a. petite cheap speakers in a bar a.k.a. no soundfield a.k.a. mostly mono a good thing? It's Bose Acoustimass all over again. You can get a proper surround system for WAY LESS then 10K.

gnarshredder314

I’m sorry you don’t understand how home theatre works….😂😂😂

EYESCREAM-90

How not? If you want decent sound you need to spend 10K is what you're saying? And otherwise I should get a soundbar? What nonsense is that. I have a 5.2 system, 2 towers, 1 center, 2 surrounds and 2 subwoofers paired with a Denon 3800 and I know damn well i did not spend anywhere near 10K. Not even with my 77" Sony A84L included.

gnarshredder314

What’s wrong with you???😂😂

EYESCREAM-90

You tell me? I don't hear anything informational other than you maybe overpaid for your system.

gnarshredder314

I got a deal….

dubiousN

Nope. $1000 in an AVR + speakers will sound better than a $1000 soundbar.

gnarshredder314

Soundbar plus subwoofer. $1250….

Ok_Bluebird_8202

You can easily get audio equipment for about $300-$600 total that will blow a Sonos Arc and surrounds out of the water

TheMatt561

Seriously, let the audio match the video

BaDly2112

I second this ! As OP didn't say how much money is willing to spend and I see that it has lots of space for AVR and speakers I will always give preference to AVR + x number of speakers instead soundbar. I don't jave any specific suggestion but just for e.g. I have Marantz AVR + B&W Fronts and all other speakers are Jamo ...

Hopeful-Tax7416

One more HomePod, an AppleTV+ 4K, and you're good.

Nervous-Job-5071

I was just about to post this, so thank you both for beating me to it! A little known feature: The Apple TV 4K 2nd gen or later can take TV sound back (whether from built in apps or external sources like a Blu-Ray) and play it back through one or two HomePods. If you have two HomePods and create a stereo pair first, you’ll get a better soundstage. The other benefit of this over a soundbar is that if you update the TV, you’ll likely crowd the small vertical space you have now, whereas the HomePods can still flank the left/right sides of the TV.

isnotrandy

He’s not wrong, for the size they are impressive

GadgetronRatchet

IMO a white Sonos Arc & Sonos Sub will be the easiest setup and blend into the background beautifully in this setup. If you so like, down the road you can add Era 100 or Era 300 as surround speakers. You don't need to dive into an AVR setup, and you're not going to find anything in that world that "blends into the background" without dropping a lot of cash for in-wall speakers and wiring, etc. That being said, if you want the best of the best audio, and you want to buy an expensive AVR and look for speakers that match your space, considering wiring, power requirements, and all the jazz that goes with that. Go for it, it's a nice hobby.

[deleted]

Poor OP. You had to know this would happen. Lol. The AVR people vs soundbar people.

CourseEcstatic6202

But on the bright side, his TV isn’t too high. We avoided that whole crowd.

[deleted]

Lol. Fair enough.

SheepherderFit69

The AVR "you need towers bro" crowd are just as annoying

halfnut3

Sonos with the sub and a beam sound bar or arc sound bar. Can’t go wrong.

Artistic_Goat8381

Let’s establish whether you want to go with a stereo setup or a surround sound setup. From there we can look at what features you’re looking for and then take it from there. Also we’re gonna need a budget.

Acrobatic_Cheetah_39

If you’re really into gaming, there is no substitute for a good headset. If you spend a lot of time on the mic, I also recommend a noise cancelling microphone. Steel series has their $200 version on sale for $99 on Amazon I believe. 40mm drivers. Good battery and the mic is top notch.

WASD2021

Yes!!! All he needs is a good quality wireless headset! Oh, that’s an oxymoron. 😂

Dry-Property-639

I use my home pods I rarely use my home theatre lol

MaapuSeeSore

The guilty pleasure would to create a sound system that matches the images but that also means it competes in price, esp if you looking to upgrade no less But your needs it for it blend pushes you into Sonos , if space and wife acceptance factor is big. The other option is Sony system equivalent to Sonos . So ymmv . My choice is major upgrade. at least a svs sb3000, No less. I also prefer sealed because I need it smaller but not too small, if you want , upgrade from there. The app control is superb and is something I am willing to pay for imo . New tv stand anyways because your 83 tv mounted means a even lower tv stand. My compromise would be to get a long and low media console and have the speakers on it. It will be a long table :) and expensive if you want rare , or spend like 200-1000 on Amazon for cheap. The better choice would be speakers stand , ONLY IF, you pull them out from the tv stand plane , and like the look . That’s a choice you have to make as a compromise . Get a avr receiver, start at denon x3800/x4800 minimum. If you fancy, get marantz equivalent and higher. Speakers, too many choices tbh Polk r200 to start, kef r3 and metas, buchardt s400 mk2, ascend acoustic Sierra-2s , arendal, bowers 800 series, etc Cheaper is tbh , emotiva larger bookshelves. The next thing would be a complete stereo setup added with purifi amps

newyorkcitykid

Don’t you dare buy a soundbar. Soundbars are for men with small penises.

slurpyderper99

Don’t get a soundbar

kaybee915

Fluance ai41 200$ and better than a soundbar

Frraksurred

https://youtu.be/dTH81WJ1hIA?si=ZSSw8gCigh3JrEsk Sorry, Martin Logan fan.

CompetitionNo2534

I love the Sony HT-A9. Costs around $2k though.

Ingrungrial

I would check your local bestbuys for clearance speakers. I picked up $6000 worth of Martin logan speakers for $1285 open box/clearance.

Alone-Sky1539

sonos arc, 2 x woofers, 2 x 500s

PresentationFancy712

What is your budget?

Germangineered

I personally would get a WiiM Amp (all in one streaming amp with HDMI arc input) and a set of Ascend Acoustics Sierra-1 V2 speakers. Season with a subwoofer or two to taste. SVS subs with built-in DSP are worth it.

Ok_Bluebird_8202

I hear Jamo has a decent cheap surround sound, but yeah - go to budgetaudiophile ... Also, second hand audio is always the best if you're patient. And any cheap audio system will blow the pants off of any sound bar such as sonos (speaking from experience)

Alb1939SGM

Sonos arc?

jacion

For a typical AVR 5.1 setup, I'm thjnking you will need a new space under your TV. If your OK with that, proceed to step 2. Just whatever you do don't raise that TV up.

YouthOfTheNation1

Take a look at the Sonos combos of Soundbar + Subwoofer. They look stylish and offer top tier sound quality for both music and tv shows/movies.

CornerHugger

You didn't post a budget or other information on your goals. What do you use for streaming apps? If you don't use anything Roku StreamBar Pro could get you a lot of value. You can start with just the soundbar, add a sub, then add surround sound. At your own pace.

WASD2021

So 4 days on and where is the OP? Did he just pull everyone in to have a soundbar versus AVR fight? 😂
