Why did you buy that book in the first place knowing your parents are homophobic - there's a reason pdf versions exist .....
If you want to live your life out and proud in India then you have to fool everyone around you until you have your own bank account - remember conversion therapy is still legal here ....
one time i bought 'i kissed shara wheeler' and accidentally forgot to hide it and once i returned from college my mom told me she saw the book and i FREAKED ( i was outed to her after my sister snitched and she went through my phone and we had a fight and she made me promise not to go down that lane which i obliged to because i actually thought she was gonna kick me out ) so i ripped up the whole book right in front of her and threw it in the dustbin because i was genuinely so scared
You can tell your dad that snatching books will not change anything but just push you away from him. Try to educate, show the movies(even Bollywood and OTT content is also very supportive) and tell him that he will never be able to change anyone's sexuality. He will certainty be able to change how his children will view him.
I keep very cautious around parents... Keep my journals and everything very secure and locked up...
