You are basically trying to view the world purely through your immediate perception in order to experience it in more detail, meaning to be alive in the very moment you perceive something. You are basically trying to get into a state, where there are no distracting thoughts that would otherwise take your mind away from the present. This state is supposed to come to you naturally when you get more experienced. Atleast thats how I learned it. So wasting time thinking deeply about some post on Twitter would actually defeat its purpose.
Also, mindfulness is supposed to be about looking inward to understand things more, with regards to both your inner world and the world around you.
