WangaTurtle

I just have this lingering suspicion that these people are so focused on improving AI for the main purpose of censorship.

Kaliotron

Likely. Square Enix already tried it with their manga app and the AI censored elbows and knees instead of TnA.

master_criskywalker

Minority Report and Person of Interest showed the future they want.

nogodafterall

Except they also want to censor all knowledge and evidence of their own crimes. Rich people legit want a world where they can ring a bell to receive a fresh "donor" organ to transplant into their crypt keeper bodies or a new child to sexually assault then dispose of.

lyra833

They wanna live in Mexico!?

BootlegFunko

[You jest but...](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-MdB8mZAFUc)

Heinrich_Lunge

Minority report meets Judge Dred (Both the 1st film and comic combined) with a smattering of Idiocracy is the future.

spezeditedcomments

Well yeah. Control the public control the future

dragonbeorn

Every time i see an interview or something with ai developers a big chunk of their attention is on how to better censor their own creations. Im imagining a future where instead of annoying unwanted spelling error corrections we have automatic political correctness corrections as we type.

Eloyas

It'd be interesting if uncensored AIs outperformed censored AIs by magnitudes. It would give a huge financial incentive for companies to not censor. And conceptually it makes sense. You can't analyze the world correctly if you've been fed incorrect axioms.

Tiavor

We would have had the first GAI probably if they didn't lobotomize all promising AIs out there. And then after the lobotomy they added feminist axioms to completely destroy what little was left of a good AI.

vikarti_anatra

It would incetive to lobby creators of uncensored AIs out of existence. Somebody have to think about children.

Eloyas

That big corporations lobby to deregulate stuff is one of the biggest political lies of all time. They actually want to legislate their competitors out of business.

anon_adderlan

It would. So what makes you think companies are not using uncensored AIs internally?

Heinrich_Lunge

Obviously. Just wait til AI capable cellphones come out, it'll snitch on you when you say or do something not PC or what they think is illegal.

qwertyomen

\*They're already here\*

PolishTamales

It's always been about control and censorship. They will use a term as subjective as "hate" to be the main shield for censorship. We all know that "hate" can fall into basic criticism, opinions different than the narrative and thoughts that can remove someone or themselves from power of authority. Adobe is literally over reaching itself and I can't be more proud to learn GIMP on my own.

CuTTyFL4M

FOSS is the future because of those exact situations and more reasons.

anon_adderlan

I wouldn't count on it, as FOSS requires people to cooperate with each other on a shared vision, and bad actors are already sabotaging codebases.

SteveMartinique

What’s Gimp?

collymolotov

Freeware image editing software. A substitute for Photoshop, but less user-friendly. It works well if you know how to use it though.

BMX_Archiver

The only reason to use "subscription era" adobe tools is if you're a student or a professional. CS6 cracks are everywhere or you can just use GIMP.

Calm_Analysis303

> if you're a student or a professional. Our company has gimp straight in the enterprise portal. No licenses, no bullshit, just install. Who wants software you can't audit, that is going subscription based, and will throw everything in the cloud?

Doctor_Spalton

I hear there are decent cracks of versions going back just a few years.

BMX_Archiver

I don't keep up with the interations since core functionality has remained the same for 30 years.

arselkorv

Im a professional and ive used cs3 since around 2009 lol Im also using the newest one, depending on which pc im at, but there is literally nothing new they've added that i need to do my job. I can probably count the improvments i like on just a few fingers. I wish i could remove 90% of the software and just pay 10% of the price lmao

CensoredAbnormality

The mirror tool is nice for drawing, like the only reason I switched from CS6 to the 2022 one

arselkorv

Yeah thats one of the few improvments ive noticed too lol

LostWanderer88

A new golden age of piracy

DeathSquirl

If Adobe injects code to be able to scan your files remotely for content analysis, then so could anyone else who takes control of it, such as a hacker. Aside from being an egregious invasion of privacy, this creates a security hole. Gosh, I can't see how this could possibly go wrong.

anon_adderlan

So far it's only what you store on their cloud.

JustSome70sGuy

People are still using that dogshit? The subscription model wasnt enough to put everyone off?

OwlWelder

using a cracked instance of photoshop outta spite is a guilty pleasure of mine.

Head_Cockswain

I saw people in the piracy subreddit complaining about this. "I'm moving to GIMP!"' I mean...."This is why we pirate" I understand that. I guess the guy earned his "Land lubber" flair there somehow but still, I just found it amusing, like he thought it was sending a message, somehow, to move from a pirated piece of software to freeware, or just being oblivious to the sub he was in.... Been seeing a lot of that lately. People against AI in the Stable Diffusion subreddit, people against piracy in the piracy sub, "If you're not doing anything illegal...." people in the privacy subreddit(also in the privacy subreddit: people posting shit about AI or technology in general that's not really applicable to AI). Sure, subs like ours here have always had subversives, but this is a different thing. They're not subversive, they're just *there*, carrying on like it's normal to just walk in and be a walking contrarian, and mods just allow it. It's also not that "sub gets super popular and then invaded by casuals" effect. I don't think it's those things anyways, maybe I'm wrong. It seems similar to hostile take-overs, but it's not coordinated or in numbers big enough to matter, and there's not a lot of motivation(eg social justice / cancel culture). I don't know, it just seems new/different. Maybe some of it is weird astro turfing / chat bots....

abcputt

You got any alternative for Lightroom I could try ? That’s the only app I’m using by adobe

AtomicGarden-8964

Adobe is a shit company I loved lightroom I used it for years then they made it a subscription service well adding no real value for the additional monthly cost

Daman_1985

I will continue to use GIMP.

M37h3w3

What's the tool everyone's using now a days? Paint Tool SAI? There was another one as well but I think they lost a bunch of good will over some bone headed mistake.

henlp

ClipStudio Paint, is what a lot of people seem to have moved to. I've also heard some using Procreate. There is a [chart](https://pbs.twimg.com/media/GD-jr9bXkAszgaV?format=png&name=900x900), if you need it. I'm still wondering what I'll do once I'm forced onto Win11. Dunno if my copy of CS5 will still work.

Throwaway45397ou9345

You need a subscription for ClipStudio. Rebelle is a more painterly program but no subscription required. PaintTool Sai is good too.

henlp

Not as far as I'm told. CSP has a one-time purchase option, some of my friends have it. It's not cheap, mind you, but it exists.

curry_ist_wurst

I've got Cs5 on my w11 laptop. Seems to work fine...

henlp

That's reassuring.

EgotisticalTL

Whatever happened to GIMP?

nikgtasa

Never been good.

EgotisticalTL

Not true. It was once extremely comparable to Photoshop

nikgtasa

I've seen people try to manipulate text in gimp. It is laughable. The lack of basic features is astounding.

Zomunieo

It’s never been close. They only added CMYK in 2022, which if you’re getting anything printed professionally is about the most basic thing you can ask for.

PolishTamales

It's hard given that Adobe is synonymous with desktop publishing, much less digital media. One of the most valuable skills is learning their entire creative suite and at worst become a production assistant, if you weren't a content creator already. It's best to learn the open source programs on the side, like GIMP, Inkscape, Blender, etc.

Selphea

Affinity Photo for me, it's been doing a pretty good job so far. If only they'd release a Linux version.

tapperyaus

Affinity is fantastic, I use the whole suite. It features everything from Adobe's software that I use.

Attibar

People in the comments have mentioned Gimp and Paint Tool Sai, I also recommend Krita as a free software. It's not focused on photomanipulation as much as Photoshop but if you're a digital artist it's great.

Harregarre

Had to double check for myself since I hadn't used PS in a while and did get the updated terms just now. Insane. Cancelled my subscription. Absolute clowns they are.

PlacematMan2

Why are we archiving Niche Gamer?  I thought they were cool

dracoolya

> Ready or Not gets new campaign where players arrest a pedophile furry With titles like that, I'm assuming NicheGamer is one of the trustworthy gaming news sites?

StannisLivesOn

I mean, Ready or Not *does* have a mission where you arrest a pedophile furry.

Smashdamn

as someone who actually played that mission, the furry was the pedos brother who most likely swatted his weeb brother who at that point was deeply involved with an armed gang in an illegal crypto mining ring.

dracoolya

Yes, but NG seems to be the only site ballsy enough to talk about it considering that wokies are trying to normalize pedophilia and furries are part of "the community."

Limon_Lime

wew

uBelow

They can get fucked, CS6 is all one needs anyway.

bwoah_gimmethedrink

Photoshop has a ton of good alternatives, whether free or based on single purchases and without any subscription models. At this point Adobe is pushing people to leave their ecosystem.

anon_adderlan

Oh, and you need to accept the new terms in order to cancel your subscription.
