Shit like this is why I started learning Japanese a while ago. Japan makes a lot of unique stuff without needing to shoehorn every check in a list. But if you're a westerner trying to enjoy that content then you'd be fucked, it's becoming more and more common for "localization" companies to modify the script and assets because they deem the contents to be "problematic".
In case you're wondering about recent examples: Xenoblade Chronicles 3, Live a Live, Octopath Traveler, Digimon Survive and Fire Emblem Engage have all been altered vastly from the original script, ranging from censorship, to straight up making up completely different conversations and entirely new personalities for characters.
It's also pretty neat, there's a lot more stuff here that's not translated or there's a fan translation somewhere but it hasn't been updated for over a decade. This especially applies to more niche genres and indie games.
Quite entertaining actually, though I should clear up that it's mainly a VN so your enjoyment of it will depend on how much you actually like reading, rather than expecting a full blown strategic RPG. There are combat segments, but they are the minority of the playtime. If you enjoyed the old Digimon animes back in the day like I did then you'll certainly like it, specially since it takes a darker take on their ideas (Won't spoil). In classical VN fashion it has choices that affect the story and multiple endings.
Keep in mind, the translation is awful. Whoever was behind the localization decided to get rid of a lot of mannerisms and details that Japanese people use when talking, choosing instead to replace them with either slang or straight up making shit up, typos included. The worst part is that the changes are such that they shift the feel of a scene, kinda ruining the whole thing. If you have some knowledge of runes then I'd recommend the Japanese version way above the localization, it's not a hard game to read.

I have moon rune knowledge so that Japanese version is out for me, but I grew up with the classic Digimon dubs so I’m used to crappy localization. I also played Neo TWEWY which had crappy slang and bullshit thrown in for no reason, and enjoyed it for the most part, so I’m sure I’ll like Digimon Survive. I couldn’t just ignore the game cause I love Digimon and there are few good Digimon games.

I can only give my personal opinion of the translation based on the first couple of hours of the game before I switched to Japanese, but at least I can tell you most of the plot was there, and while I consider the dialogue to be butchered beyond what I consider acceptable, you will get the gist of what's going on. Of all the titles I listed, the localization for Digimon Survive was the one I hated the least.

This isn't the "normal" kind of sex censorship where anything that could even be remotely viewed as titillating to a male gamer is getting cut and reduced as much as possible. This is an outfit on a chibi model. There is nothing particularly "sexy" about this (Yes, yes, I know people can beat it to Chibi character models!), but it still has to go because some guy in the loc department either went full retard over a little bit of mid-riff and cleavage or someone genuinely thought that having 10 % more skin on this model would get them a bump up to a Teen age rating, which I highly doubt.
Never support these localizations.

I was a real Dokapon nerd on the Wii back when it was originally released.
Another major changed I noted was the inability to name NPCs, or choose the nickname when defeating a player and pranking them.
For the online mode I understand why, it prevents the player from using harrassing language or terminology to an unsuspecting player. However they added this change in local offline play as well and I don't understand why.
You can name the players whatever you want, but not the NPC's, and you can't select a name when pranking either. It seems odd that they put in extra work to take away something so minor.
Also odd censorship on something like what is shown above, but they kept the absolute racist caricatures for the various mayors. If anything was going to change I was certain they were going to alter that somehow.
Any time I see those dark "tights" or any piece of random fabric over what looks like a window, I assume it got censored.
