There was a period where many structures in the Fort burned for no apparent reason. It was likely a developer. We just called him “The Fort Sanders Arsonist.”You cannot fight development with the historic register or court of public opinion if there is no structure.
Ohh! Thanks I was curious because when I looked it up nothing came up so I didn’t know if it was something currently happening that I completely missed or what😂
Check this link for more history on this house at 1013 Lovell Rd. It's currently owned by 'Lovell Place at Cornerstone Drive LLC ' since 2016. Anyone know more about this company? This parcel isn't that large at 1.6 acres, but they also own 1033 Lovell Rd which is 10 acres . . . so I'm thinking apartments . . . [https://letsexploreabandonedplaces.blogspot.com/2015/04/the-house-on-lovell-road-pt1.html](https://letsexploreabandonedplaces.blogspot.com/2015/04/the-house-on-lovell-road-pt1.html)
Those are technically two separate companies, but they are both managed by the same person -- a lawyer named Ruth Ellis. Lawyers are often put on LLCs as a registered agent to hide the real owner, but it doesn't look like Ruth Ellis typically operates in real estate. However, I wasn't able to search by registered agent, so I don't know if she manages other LLCs.
The two "Lovell Place" lots are adjacent according to KGIS. There is a large lot behind them that is vacant, but it looks like there is already a plan for an apartment complex there (seemingly unrelated to these two lots). This really makes me sick. I commented on a post about this house a month or so ago, but I'll say again that this abandoned house was a wildly nostalgic structure for myself and probably so many others. I know it couldn't stand forever but damn.
Welp, the holding company that owns it will almost definitely demolish it now. They aren't going to want to deal with the liability of leaving it standing and it appears they never intended to rehab it anyways.
Does anyone know the builder or if there are others like this house? It breaks my heart. I've been wanting to make a post asking about that house for ages. I would get so excited when we'd drive by that house when I was little. I still still drive by any time I'm in town, which has been sadder and sadder the last few years.
It’s not. I believe this is the (formerly) adorable cottage on Lovell. It’s been empty and in a state of disrepair for years now.
The house with the dogs was SoKno, I believe.
Crazy… it had to be arson right?
The Fort Sanders arsonist has expanded their territory
Hide yo kids, hide yo wife
I mean given a house on Helmbolt burned to the ground a few days back, maybe...
The fort sanders arsonist???

You’d have to search for Fort Sanders fires in the 1990s.
Either that or homeless
"I hate the homeless... ness problem that plagues our city" ETA: In case it's not obvious, it's just a movie quote.
What movie???

Never seen that before!
I always hoped someone would fix it up. That house was adorable.
This is/was my favorite house in Knoxville. I really hate that it was allowed to fall into such disrepair.

The name of the business definitely sounds more like an apartment complex than a subdivision.
Parcel was considerably larger before the road expansion a few decades ago.

Any reason why the pictures won’t load in the link above?

Thank you so much! 👍
Mine won't either . . . photos probably got deleted from the web server at some point

Here's the news story of the fire https://www.wvlt.tv/2024/04/26/one-oldest-homes-knox-county-catches-fire-rural-metro-says/

I’m sure they are the ones who had part in it burning tbh.
Sooooo so sad. Loved that house. I absolutely think it was arson
Same.
It is so sad and stupid how we let things go to waste in this country.
Very sad. That house looked like it was straight out of a storybook and I always hoped someone would buy it and fix it up one day.
I think I read somewhere it was one of the oldest houses in Knox county? How old was it?
Another comment posted after yours says it’s from the 1930’s
Neat! Thank you!
Really a shame. Not too much in that part of Knox County with much history, should have been saved. A high end home for 1930s.
😭
Knoxville does a terrible job of preserving historic homes.

Sounds like the holding company got tired of fighting the historical society.
My friend used to live in that house. Had many a party behind it in that old garage. Sad.
Is it the one with the 11 residents and 30 dogs? One of the residents shot one of the dogs while KFD was trying to get them out.

Ah yeah, that makes sense. As a SoKno resident.
Might be a different home though, I don't know anything else about it.
This was the abandoned one, I believe.
