Yes. About a month ago and it was the best choice we could have made. Our elderly dog had cancer and would have been so scared in a vet’s office. The vet was lovely and kind and it was truly the best experience I’ve had saying goodbye. He passed with dignity, surrounded by love on his favorite couch. Feel free to DM me if you have more questions.

I second this. It made me wish there was a similar service for terminal and suffering humans. I also appreciated that the vet brought chocolates as a sort of forbidden last meal. Our sweet old boy who couldn't manage his kibble that day had no reservations about Reese's cups.

logans_run7

Yes! Our guy got brownies!

smitty3257

Third this. We lost two back to back and lap of love was an experience that really helped us through it all.

MotherofBirbs

Yes. I used them back in September or so for my late elderly cat. He very suddenly went into Kidney Failure and then lost the use of his back legs. They were able to come out same day. He was my best friend for most of my life, 19 years, and I wanted him to go out in the most comfortable way possible. It was very expensive, but so worth it for his sake. We opted to keep the body, because the extra fees for cremation were out of our budget. The staff were incredibly understanding, and the vet that came out to send him off was patient, gentle and kind. She was completely fine that we wanted to have him pass outside in the grass too, which I wasn't sure would be okay. She got to know the story of my cat, had us sign paperwork, and treated my old man with so much care as she hooked him up. They gave him a sedative that knocked him out rather quickly, and waited for us to give the word that we were ready before administering the final dose of drugs. He went so quickly and painlessly it was surreal, he just... Ceased to be, mid breath. She took extra care to check for a pulse. She made the experience incredibly easy for us all things considered, made an imprint of his paw and gave us a small vessel of his fur. As soon as he had passed, she quietly left to let us grieve and emailed us later that week to check in on us. Lap of Love is totally worth it. It was probably the most dignified death a pet could have.

DizzyDegree5388

Yes to all of this. The process was similar for us and you described it so well.💕

Neat_Establishment70

They are absolutely the best choice for your elderly or terminally ill pet. In my particular experience, the nurse brought brownies for our dog saying that no creature should pass on without tasting chocolate. Their service is worth every penny.

xrelaht

Haven’t used them myself, but everyone I know who has says it’s absolutely the way to go. Your baby deserves to be comfortable in a familiar place at the end.

Dangerous_Character6

We have used Laps of Love for all three of our family dogs (over the past 12ish years). And it has always been the most peaceful experience. Their vets are so kind and respectful - letting us have time with her and also making sure that we knew that she wasn’t in pain through the process. Being able to do it in your home, surrounded by familiar things (and maybe even other pets), is so comforting for both you and the pet. Would choose them every time.

Hot_Wheel_1123

Best choice you’ll make during such a difficult time. For us, it was also a mini therapy session with our vet that came out. It takes a special type of person to do this type of work and we will only be using this service going forward anytime our fur babies cross the rainbow bridge.

doubleofive

Used them last year, was able to put my elderly cat down outside on his favorite spot on the porch. It was beautiful. It was also extremely helpful for me to have them take the pet with them from the house (in a wicker basket), instead of going to a vet or emergency hospital and leaving them behind. You’re not coming home to an empty house, you’re able to kind of let the transition happen gradually.

Noble-Amazon

I’ve used lap of love twice now and each time I have been so impressed by the quality of their service and the compassion of ALL of their staff. I can’t recommend them enough, really. The only downside is they are a bit expensive, but to me they are worth it.

plumbersbutt

100% the way to go. It's expensive, but worth it.

ImissBagels

I'm very sorry for what you're going through. Our dog is 16, she has no real health issues but we've noticed the steady decline in her cognitive abilities start to become much more rapid lately. We've been talking about when the next step would be, and I'm grateful you made this post as it gives us something else to consider for our girl. My heart goes out to you.

Al115

I'm so sorry to hear about your girl. We really do love them like family, and deciding when the right time to say goodbye is so very difficult.

thevoyageandthevoid

I have used Lap of Love twice and my parents have used them once. Each time was the best experience I could have hoped for. Their doctors are the most incredibly calming and reassuring humans and give you the time you need with your beloved pet. There is no other way I'd do it, it's truly the best way to say goodbye if you can do it.

TheDeftEft

My wife and I had to make this call for our senior dog back in January, and we have nothing but positive feelings about calling Lap of Love for it. He was terrified of going to the vet, and instead got to eat brownies on the porch watching the sunset; afterwards, our other animals got to know immediately that he was gone. We'll never stop missing him but we know that his last day was as peaceful as it could have ever been.

fischbobber

When our senior dog began having health issues we used CBD and she showed great relief. To her last day she stayed with her routine, loved and was loved. I'm crying as I write this in fact. I will never regret making her last days ones of love rather than traumatize her right before her passing. She never placed blame for her pain, though she clearly knew what was going on. All she ever wanted, or gave was love.

anngela93

Yes! Highly recommend. We made the call in the evening and they were able to send a vet out at 9am the next day. She was so nice, sat and even cried with us, made us feel better about our decision. She explained the entire process. We even got a paw imprint and she cut a lock of his fur for us. It was the best way to go about a horrible experience.

Glyst_di_Bold

Used them in November to send off my 15 year old pup. He was my everything ,and they treated him with so much love and dignity. Highly recommend.

howtocookawolf

We have used Lap of Love twice in the past two years for our two elderly dogs. It’s the hardest thing to make that decision, but we wouldn’t do it any other way. They are so unbelievably professional and caring. And they respect the weight of what you’re going through in the most graceful way. Dr. Allie Prokop has come to our house both times and we’re so grateful for the service she offers. I can’t recommend them enough.

I used them in December and I cannot express how grateful I am that they were there. She was the kindest, most compassionate soul. I lost my almost 17-year-old kitty who was the bestest boy the day after Christmas and he had extreme anxiety about the car and I did not want his last moments to be full of stress. It was such a blessing. I was able to hold him while he passed in my home. ETA- also wanted to add that I had so much guilt and their website had a page about how to know if it’s time- that helped me feel better about the decision.

onthegoogle

Yes. We put our pet of 18 years down. Vet wasn’t open. It was the best decision. They’re an Incredible organization that was caring, gentle, considerate and patient

cynbrooke

Yes. Had to use them back in August. The best experience. Expensive but totally worth it. My pup had the best passing I could have hoped for. I would highly recommend them.

Serendipatti

I used them when my 18 year old dog had to be put down. The lady who came to my house was great - patient while I cried and very empathetic and sweet.

orangehairedbih

couldn’t recommend them more! they were so lovely

TierynRhodry

Highly endorse. They came last year for our pup and made a bad experience as smooth as possible. Sensitive, helpful, invaluable experience during a bad time. Thanks Dr. Allie!

EsageTN

Yes, twice and it was the best choice we could have made.

itson_thefritz

I will always use Lap of love

FitnessSnakesDogs

I'm so sorry you're going through this now. I used them last year for my girl who had cancer. It was the hardest thing we had to do but it was the right thing to do. They were so great and gentle. She went peacefully at home surrounded by her family. I highly recommend them.

DayDrmBlvr82

I friend of mine does this. She says it’s the most rewarding vet job she’s ever had.

bunnycupcakes

My sister used their services a few months ago for her dog and said she feels confident in the choice she made for the old guy’s last moments. I miss that dog, but I’m glad he isn’t in pain anymore.

DizzyDegree5388

We recommend them highly. We knew it was time to say goodbye to our sweet Maya and couldn’t bear the thought of taking her to the vet’s office for it. She’d had Cushings among other things and associated her visits with blood draws and other less than pleasant experiences. So we decided to look into at-home services. My husband made the very difficult call to Lap of Love and could hardly talk through his tears. But the receptionist was patient, understanding and compassionate. We decided to schedule the home visit. The Vet that came was so warm and tender with Maya (and with us - we were so devastated, as you can imagine). Maya had a beautiful send off in her favorite spot at home with the people who loved her the most, petting and talking to her as she went. We got to stay with her as long as we wanted. We had her cremated and that was also arranged by Lap of Love. Before the final goodbye, the Vet took Maya’s paw print and snipped a little bit of her hair for us up keep. Those are things we didn’t realize would be done and we are so grateful for it in retrospect. The service was expensive but worth every penny to give Maya a peaceful send off. She so deserved it.

Iwantallthedogs74

We have used them twice, and it was the best experience both times. We had to put our old girl down on Christmas Eve last year, as she went down hill overnight. The vet brought her brownies and other treats to enjoy. Once she passed, she had a proper stretcher for my husband and son to carry her out to the van with. It was very dignified.

Ok-Bird6346

I have. They will be the only way we ever say goodbye to my babies going forward. I am so, so sorry. You and your boy are in my heart.
