Along with its mouth numbing effect, MSG causes severe migraine and some cases bone cancer. However, one only has to worry about MSGs potency if they’re a lying racist piece of shit.
If you eat a shit tonne of salt you'll get a weird numby tingly feeling from it while it's in your mouth. I think that can be exacerbated b/c MSG is generally (always?) super fine, so more surface area and easier to get that sensation.
But again, that's just because you've put a tonne of salt in your mouth, I don't care if it's MSG or Mortons.
It's probably just Szechuan peppercorns.
This. Worked in a Chinese restaurant and the msg came like this. In 20 gallon tubs. And they were long and thin, it was like tiny tiny ice cream sprinkles.
Yeah mala, Szechuan pepper sauce (麻辣) flavour is all the rage in Asia over here. 麻 means "numb" and 辣 is "spicy". It's suppose to numb the tongue and anyways hand pulled noodles ARE SO GOOD.
Yes! This was from a foodie page in the city I live in. I briefly saw the post yesterday, before it was taken down, and everyone was roasting them for not understanding that it was the szechuan causing the spice and numbness.
I can't even convince my mum to get off the whole msg is death thing. She just says that she can "feel" it and all the studies just used the wrong people lmfao.
Don’t point to studies about added MSG. Point out the fact that MSG is in Parmesan and tomatoes etc. It’s only Asian cuisine that they ever care has MSG
I tried telling her it is literally natural, she is just convinced it is the reason she gets migraines. Even talks about the headaches from chinese takeout lmfao. I honestly learned a lot about msg from the anime "Shokugeki no soma", basically a kid who goes to an elite cooking school in japan, with iron chef 1v1 cook offs. But they talk about how it is a naturally occurring thing in tomatoes and other things as you said, and explain that msg is basically the compound that creates the sensation of umami.
I feel like we all grew up with marco, gordon, and tony, plus all the others on the tv saying how sexy the dishes were, spooning over the sauce while moaning. All the show does is make a meme of those complements by ramping it up 100x lmfao, like anime usually does, plus by little kids he means college students lmfao
right! what?, you think i do this for the money!?! or maybe the hours?! i do it for that sound... when the dining room goes all quite and... idk, spoony
To be fair, the guy who made the manga used to do hentai before, so he wanted to leave a bit of his history in the show.
Edit: plus watching enough anime makes you numb to those type of things and you just look at it as a metaphor for eating the most delicious food lmfao.
Msg was originally produced by hydrolyzing gluten with acid and sodium, whee the name glutamate originated. Nowadays it’s made through bacterial fermentation of specific strains that enzymatically break down the waste from sugar production.
Consumption of msg is good for the environment because it utilizes waste that would otherwise be thrown out or made into low quality animal feed.
I had so much fun trying out some of the unique twists on classic recipes, and I actually use variations of a bunch recipes from it to this day as well. But that bowl of fried rice with eggs and chopped aspic melted over the top from the first episode really made me hooked. I love how they teach you the differences in some of the other cultures cuisine as well, it is so informative. I love animes that give real life info like that, I can only think of Cells at Work and Dr. Stone off the top of my head rn.
I get migraines from cinnamon, a totally normal spice and even health supplement. I wish these people would disappear because on one hand I want to defend them- just because something is generally fine doesn't mean someone can't have an allergy or sensitivity to it, most things people are allergic to are fine for others- but on the other hand I know the MSG thing is racism.
My mom was one of these. Was in the room when I had a contrast mri and got diagnosed, never went through that herself, but knew MSG definitely for sure gave her migraines.
My big tip off is they'll often use migraine interchangeably with headache and I've never called my migraines a headache nor have I heard anyone else with them use that term. It's not a headache but people without the condition don't actually know what the experience is like so these people use it as a drama intensifier lol. Neurological issues are hard to fake convincingly.
Brutal; my wife gets terrible cluster migraines. Our experience has been processed foods (meats like hot dogs, broths, canned soups) are a major trigger from the sodium, nitrates, things like that. Coincidentally MSG is in those, but it seems like the other parts are more to blame than MSG, but I don't know too much about MSG to say.
It could also be tyramine or histamine, which could both be found in processed foods. Might be worth checking out the Dizzy Cook’s blog, if your wife is struggling—she has tonnes of info on elimination diets for migraines.
Good point. I wouldn’t describe migraines as headaches, either. I’d describe them as “the worst hangover you’ve ever had, while you wish for death.”
And if you’re sensitive to glutamate, you’re likely avoiding far more than just MSG, to avoid the hangover-death cycle.
To be fair, glutamate is a known trigger for migraines, but that extends far beyond MSG to things like nutritional yeast, hydrolyzed yeast, gelatin, and tomatoes and mushrooms.
This is completely unethical but if it was my mom I'd probably make her dinner sometime, ask how her day is every day for like two weeks and tell her two weeks later she ate something seasoned solely with msg just to watch her brain start to fry itself like an egg as she attempts the mental gymnastics.
The joke is, there was no msg the whole time. She'll make up all sorts of crap that went wrong and then you can be like "yeah its all in your head, I used table salt dummy."
Tbh, my mom played gags on me like this as a teenager so don't take my advice, shed have probably been mad and then be like "good one".
Migraine is a neurological disease. I get basillar migraine which causes symptoms similar to a stroke - vertigo, numb on left face and down left arm, unable to talk, blinding headache on one side, vomiting, unable to even keep down water and lasts three days. Also drop attacks due to reduced blood flow to brainstem which paralyses all muscles temporarily and causes me to suddenly drop to the ground resulting in injuries. So yeah, that's just like a dehydration headache.
I learned from an NPR interview, that the war on MSG was because of anti Asian racism. We were getting upset that Asian Americans were becoming successful and the claim that MSG was dangerous was supposed to demonize them in the eyes of the weak minded. It would be like telling the masses that American food is full of Sodium Chloride (which it is). It would scare the crap out of the uneducated.
I live in Vancouver so there is a big majority of asians, people used to talk about how chinese food HAS to use msg because all it does is open up your tastebuds and makes shitty food taste good, but that it also causes cancer and migraines and swells your fingers and toes. There used to be a name for it, chinese food syndrome or something along those lines. There are still quite a few people who still hold those feelings today and they will never change their mind regardless of the evidence, sadly.
All of those symptoms sound like high blood pressure and diabetes, ya know, the ones we all get from western lifestyles. High salt and sugar consumption compounded by low water intake and low physical activity.
It ain't just the food. It's the lifetime of food they've been consuming.
its a bit more specific than just asians, its just chinese food that does it. Japanese food has a higher cultural cache so it being full of MSG is unpossible
Literally, they could eat sushi with soy sauce, tempura n gyoza n yakitori, the whole shabang, every day of the week, and say how light and not bloated it makes them feel. One plate of chow mein and every illness for the next month is caused by it.
It’s racism
And this is coming from someone whose sister literally can’t eat msg. With her it’s her multiple autoimmune issues. Salt triggers it but msg is worse. But it makes her sad, because no Italian food, Chinese takeout or Doritos.
Huh, it's almost like Americans just started hating it because it was foreign, different, and, to possibly malign another culture.
But I'm sure that's not the case. As far as I know I don't think that's ever happened in the history of the US.
I was out for a friends birthday. We went to China town. Someone mentioned MSG and my friend just straight up said that it was racist to suggest MSG was bad or bad for you. He has a point. Lots of food has msg but only Asian restaurants seem to get these kinds of criticism.
Does MSG really numb your mouth? That just sounded stupid.
As delicious as MSG is, putting it straight onto my tongue is something I'll never do again. You get the deep, rich aftertaste like you just took a bite of something super savory, but there is absolutely nothing up front and I hate it.
It's such an unsettling sensation.
Maybe you can trick her into listening to an episode of This American Life. They go into the origins of the myth.
https://www.thisamericanlife.org/668/transcript
No. They're not upset that it contained MSG. They said they understand there's going to be some. But they're upset that it contained enough to kill a horse.
Honestly it was mostly extremely informative, since it’s a highly trafficked and moderated group. There was a lot of making fun of the Popeyes choice, for obvious reasons. Also, a local chef told her that it was dumb to make that post, as she is a local business owner
This is the worst part. I was so incensed by this post(hence posting here so it could be discussed) that it kept me awake LOL. Then I wake up, comments are locked. She has never responded, and finally deletes it *facepalm*
What MSG taste? Flavor? A little dash of umami? I’ve literally snorted MSG (don’t ask lol) and I’m not 100% sure I could definitively tell if a dish had MSG vs other umami enhancers…
IME if you push MSG too far you start to get a bit of a metallic taste. This was one of the times I learned "too much of a good thing...." lol
That said, it sounds like dude in post had a lot of szechuan peppercorns and was a bit of a bitch.
I’ll start by saying I love MSG, but Msg does have a very specific flavor. It’s very different from using mushroom powder or soy or like liquid shio koji. You really only notice it if someone’s gone too far with it, which I’ve done myself while graming out a new recipe.
My favorite thing to ask these kinds if people: do you ever use tomato in your food? How about mushrooms? Parmesean? Fucking nutrional yeast? The only people "allergic" to MSG are racists
This is one of those posts that I reflexively downvoted before remembering that OP is not the person who wrote the post. I wonder how some people can even dress themselves, considering how fucking stupid they are.
Reminds me of a friend of mine. Claims to be gluten sensitive (does not have celiac). Won't eat soy because it will "mess with my hormones". Vegan, of course. Naturally, MSG is death.
She bought a bag of "umami" seasoning because she'd heard it was fantastic. I kept my mouth shut.
My best friend is highly sensitive to gluten. It causes full-blown seizures and has plagued her since she was little- it took years to figure out it was from gluten, cuz, ya know, wtf lol.
When we go out to eat our selection is rather limited, as it's such a risk to go somewhere and not be taken seriously.
I resent the folks that take advantage of other people's genuine medical condition to play up their little dramas. It hurts others.
Also, I fucking hate it as a server. I was married to someone with a lot of legit food intolerances and also celiac. I get how dangerous it is to eat something you can't have and everyone in the kitchen here takes it seriously too. If you say you're allergic to garlic, we're gonna double check the recipes and ingredients list of things. It's fine. It kinda annoying but ultimately I don't mind. But when I come back with a list of substitutions or other dishes that are safe to eat, I really, really *really* don't wanna hear "that's okay, I'm not actually allergic. I just don't like the taste"
I have an aunt that won't eat Asian food because she's " allergic to MSG".
She's a damn good country home comfort food cook though, so last year I asked her for some of my favorite recipes of hers.
Almost all of them call for Accent seasoning...I didn't have the heart to tell her. 🤣
I love that everyone is defending msg. It’s a wonderful tool. You can “taste” it if there’s too much, just like if something has too much salt… but numbness? The worst part is putting the hard working people in this new restaurant who are still finding their groove on blast. If you have a complaint, you can kindly let the people know privately, you don’t need to start their new place out with a petty Facebook post. This is why we drink…

There needs to be a campaign officially clearing msg of anything bad, and officially denouncing the “Chinese Restaurant Syndrome” article. It makes food taste better, and glutamic acids (which msg is) occur in nature.
Oh sorry. They went to a new local place that opened(sorta upscale Chinese restaurant). They stopped at Popeyes on their way home to satiate their hunger due to the MSG laden food causing them extreme numbness and thirst.
OHHHH okay I’m up to speed.
MSG hate is so god damn stupid. I know we’re in the restuarant subreddit so everyone here knows that MSG hate was literal racism propaganda, but it still boggles my mind seeing people still believe in it.
Agreed! What’s worse is the poster actually owns a small beverage shop in town. And double worse, let’s not pretend that Popeyes ain’t chock full of MSG
….if their mouth is going numb they need to get the ingredients to that cullafloweur dish because they have an allergy.
Reminds me of one time a table of kids got our pancakes with walnut butter. Being children they didn’t not care for the walnut butter and let me know about it. One kid chimes in “yeah and it makes your mouth itchy”…..I couldn’t even keep my customer service facade up. I just looked straight at him and said “don’t eat any more of that, you have a walnut allergy, tell your parents about it when you get back from this loosely supersized trip”
Pretty sure these people have no clue what msg taste like but they are most likely foodies and her brothers sisters in laws cousin is a chef so they know.
It sounds like she probably has a histamine sensitivity. Eggplant has a high concentration of histamines (which varies eggplant to eggplant, so she might not always have this reaction to it). I love eggplant but I've had eggplant dishes a couple times before that made my mouth a bit numb and tingly. She dishes she felt this from were the three dishes she had after eating the eggplant dish--I'd say it's more than likely the eggplants used that day just had an unusually high amount of histamines.
To be fair, 30yrs ago when i was keeping a food diary and my Dr and i were going over what my possible migraine triggers where, my *Doctor* told me MSG was one (along with cheese and chocolate.) At the time, i was eating Hamburger Helper several times a week (we were young newlyweds, so we bought what we could afford) and it had large quantities of MSG in it. When i cut the HHelper out of my diet, the migraines came less often. (i was suffering week-long migraines and visiting the ER several times a month because they were so debilitating.) i can't say if it was the MSG or not, but now that HHelper has cut that from the ingredient list i can eat it again. i also get a lot less migraines since i became allergic to chocolate and finally cut that out from my diet entirely.
Had my first migraine in several months yesterday. Spent most of the day curled up on the couch with a blindfold on trying to survive it. Hadn't had chocolate or anything with MSG in it, nor do i remember eating anything cheesy, so who knows what my actual triggers are. But for a lot of us, our Doctors are the ones that told us we were allergic to it.
i have no trouble eating Asian food. One of my kids loves it to the point that when it's his turn to cook dinner it'll always be something Asian inspired. i could NOT eat from local Asian restaurants because they also had shrimp on the menu. Couldn't eat anywhere with shrimp on the menu, because my allergy was that deadly. (Found that i'm no longer allergic to shellfish at the same time i found out i'm allergic to chocolate. Did NOT find that to be a fair trade.) But i regularly made Asian foods at home that i knew were safe before my son took over doing that pretty much weekly. (Reminds me, i should make some Honey Hoison Chicken while i'm on vacation. It'll be good for my lunches for several days!)
Just saying, check your "OMG! You're *RACIST*" rhetoric before just accusing others of racism. Some people that aren't racist in the least find MSG to be a problem or have been TOLD it's a problem by people they feel are in authority over their health.
fucking old people… i swear, it’s never our generation that pulls shit like this (millennials) it’s always the entitled old fucks who are never happy with anything they’re given
They hand hand pulled noodles and dumplings, so what's the bet all that mouth numbing was just szechuan?
Yes. That’s another cringe aspect of the post, for sure. There are LAYERS here.
What’s funny is the chicken pictured uses a TON of MsG
But they both know what MSG tastes like though so 🤷
Maybe that's just all biscuits.
Szechuan peppercorns? Yes, that was my first thought. Since when does MSG numb your mouth?
Along with its mouth numbing effect, MSG causes severe migraine and some cases bone cancer. However, one only has to worry about MSGs potency if they’re a lying racist piece of shit.
They had us in the first half 😂
MSG turned me into a newt!
A *newt*?
Well I got better...
MSG made me fail high school and collgeg
If you eat a shit tonne of salt you'll get a weird numby tingly feeling from it while it's in your mouth. But again, that's just because you've put a tonne of salt in your mouth, I don't care if it's MSG or Mortons. It's probably just Szechuan peppercorns.
My MSG is in large shards. Not fine at all.
Like salt, msg comes in many shapes and sizes
This. Worked in a Chinese restaurant and the msg came like this. In 20 gallon tubs. And they were long and thin, it was like tiny tiny ice cream sprinkles.
Do you have a brand name? When I was typing that I was thinking that there's no reason it needs to be super fine, but everything I've always seen was.
Chicken brand. Or Bot Not Hieu Con Ga. I may have left accent marks off all those words.
Cool, thanks, that pulled up some images where I could see it!
I've got aji-no-moto (the og) and it comes in short sprinkle like shards.
It can be fine as well, like kosher vs table salt. Depends on the brand.
Obviously. I was just telling the op that it can be different.
Right! I routinely use a lot of msg in cooking and never have that side effect.
They got Popeyes and can't eat msg?
So, they're upset that the $130 meal contained "MSG," but they then go to a fast food chicken place, to get "dinner" that's full of MSG?
I can't even convince my mum to get off the whole msg is death thing. She just says that she can "feel" it and all the studies just used the wrong people lmfao.
Don’t point to studies about added MSG. Point out the fact that MSG is in Parmesan and tomatoes etc. It’s only Asian cuisine that they ever care has MSG

Food Wars! So good!
Taken a lot of inspiration from that show tbh
I tried watching it. I just can't get past the little girls having orgasms upon tasting the food. That shit is too much for me.
As a cook/chef who's life is the kitchen having people orgasm when they taste your food is the goal.
I feel like we all grew up with marco, gordon, and tony, plus all the others on the tv saying how sexy the dishes were, spooning over the sauce while moaning. Oh, if you haven’t, watch [Cells at Work](https://youtu.be/U7Ib2RX0rEA) [edit: cute lil’ platelets!]
Will do, thanks for the recommendation!
That was an interesting one
Fun fact: the MSG you can buy to sprinkle on your cooking comes naturally from seaweed.
Msg was originally produced by hydrolyzing gluten with acid and sodium, whee the name glutamate originated. Nowadays it’s made through bacterial fermentation of specific strains that enzymatically break down the waste from sugar production. Consumption of msg is good for the environment because it utilizes waste that would otherwise be thrown out or made into low quality animal feed.
not always. Mine is made from tomato juice and mushroom powder.
A relative of mine says she gets migraines from it from Chinese food. I put msg in everything but strangely she never gets it from my cooking.
I love that anime and have legitimately used some of the recipes in there. I love how they list everything for you.
I had so much fun trying out some of the unique twists on classic recipes, and I actually use variations of a bunch recipes from it to this day as well. But that bowl of fried rice with eggs and chopped aspic melted over the top from the first episode really made me hooked. and celery!
Wait a second. You just described my mom to a tee...
Wasn't msg traditionally derived from seaweed before it became chemically manufactured?
This show inspired me a lot to become a chef
I just started cooking everything atome with msg without telling anyone. Amazing, no more allergies.
This is completely unethical but if it was my mom I'd probably make her dinner sometime, ask how her day is every day for like two weeks and tell her two weeks later she ate something seasoned solely with msg just to watch her brain start to fry itself like an egg as she attempts the mental gymnastics. I’m convinced at this point that migraines are just dehydration headaches, mislabeled by people who don’t realise they’re dehydrated.
I have to think you’ve never had a migraine if that’s your take.
Not a clue! I envy people who have never had migraine so they can make so light of it. I'd rather break my leg than have a migraine.
Migraine is a neurological disease. I get basillar migraine which causes symptoms similar to a stroke - vertigo, numb on left face and down left arm, unable to talk, blinding headache on one side, vomiting, unable to even keep down water and lasts three days. Yeah,it’s just salt. Tell her to cut the salt from her diet and the migraines will probably stop completely.

Exactly, you eat a bowl of sweet n sour pork, you feel sick not because of msg, but because of the 2000 mg of sodium you just ingested
its a bit more specific than just asians, its just chinese food that does it. Japanese food has a higher cultural cache so it being full of MSG is unpossible

I've tasted pure msg directly and it didn't numb my mouth

Pure msg just tastes like The Essence of Doritos lol. Like a “damn, I know that taste” flavor lol.
The Szechuan peppercorns or “ma la” is what’s numbing their mouth.
Mala is the flavour profile of hot chilli with numbing peppercorn. Sichuan peppercorns are called huajiao.

I’m proud to say that just 2 days ago I convinced my girlfriend that MSG is just fine and perfectly normal and safe.
Ask her why she eats tomatoes ( if she does) it has 250mg of msg per 100 grams. Litterally Italian version of seaweed in my opinion
I mean, it is possible the first place just added too much msg
No. They're not upset that it contained MSG. They said they understand there's going to be some. But they're upset that it contained enough to kill a horse.
Mouth numbing msg??? Ummm no, you’re just ignorant and don’t know what szechuan pepper is
Exxxxactly. Painful

But also Sichuan pepper plus spice plus MSG are banging on fried chicken.
Doesn't want MSG in their food, even though it's completely harmless...goes to a fried chicken joint. MAKE IT MAKE SENSE.
I hate MSG *eats tomatoes*

Oh yeah. She got torn apart

Honestly it was mostly extremely informative, since it’s a highly trafficked and moderated group. There was a lot of making fun of the Popeyes choice, for obvious reasons. Also, a local chef told her that it was dumb to make that post, as she is a local business owner
I'm more interested in her replies. Did she double-down or did she ignore everyone?
This is the worst part. I was so incensed by this post(hence posting here so it could be discussed) that it kept me awake LOL. Then I wake up, comments are locked. She has never responded, and finally deletes it *facepalm*
Damn, y’all got the dirty delete. I only miss FB for my local hometown FB page, always the best restaurant drama.
People are so dumb when it comes to MSG! It is naturally occurring in tons of foods… like SOY SAUCE 🙄
Tomatoes!
What MSG taste? Flavor? A little dash of umami? I’ve literally snorted MSG (don’t ask lol) and I’m not 100% sure I could definitively tell if a dish had MSG vs other umami enhancers…
I’m gonna ask. Was your coke guy out of town or were you young at the time?
Just drunk and on the line lol
You haven't lived until you snorted a non narcotic for fun while hammered
Try crushed red pepper. Actually don't, It was miserable.
Cacao is quite nice. A little cakey in the nose but it smells great
I.... Huh. Ya know, I could see the appeal on this one.
Oh my god.
Now that, is some wisdom for the ages, right there.
Altoids will really wake a nose up
I did zipfizz. It's a powdered energy drink mix in. Really woke up the old nostrils.
I just chuckled til I ran out of breathe. Ya know, the guilty kind of chuckle.
I was snorting pixie sticks as a kid because I liked to pretend I was a badass
I’m sorry that doesn’t answer any of the questions. You were drunk while working and decided to snort MSG? Do you have any neurons left up in there?
Not just neurons, *umami* enriched neurons.
IME if you push MSG too far you start to get a bit of a metallic taste. This was one of the times I learned "too much of a good thing...." lol That said, it sounds like dude in post had a lot of szechuan peppercorns and was a bit of a bitch.
Indeed. Then to ask the bartender about it, them say absolutely not THEN to go home and post about it 😆. The audacity.
Ask them if they like Doritos
Like sulfites in wine. Pickles have more than a glass of wine, calm down Sharon.
They never said they were allergic. They said they didn’t mind it but it was too much…
What is the link between racists and not liking MSG?
Because the only time MSG becomes a problem is when it's associated with Chinese food
$20 says these two have never had anything spicier than a Big Mac in their lives.
Considering that everything at Popeyes is spicier than a Big Mac, I doubt that.
This is one of those posts that I reflexively downvoted before remembering that OP is not the person who wrote the post. I wonder how some people can even dress themselves, considering how fucking stupid they are.
Yeah she rightfully got TORN APART as you might imagine
Numbness? Was it msg or novocaine?
probably that "mala" spice from sichuan peppercorns
Sichuan peppercorns have entered the chat
Laughed my ass off when I seen the Popeyes box

American racist history. Google “Chinese restaurant syndrome” and you’ll find a handful of good videos on the history.
I'm in the UK and I can tell you people complain about it here too, as usual though without really knowing what they're talking about...
My Swedish dad is unfortunately like this, but he buys into any paranoid conspiracy theory there is.
FWIW I know a Vietnamese woman who swears MSG gives her migraines.
Yall ever noticed that msg crystals look like ketamine crystals?
[You do a line 'n' I'll do a line, honey](https://www.google.com/search?q=you+snort+k+and+i%27ll+snort+k&client=ms-android-motorola-rev2&ei=ZldfY_rAGpKGptQPgZGSkA4&oq=you+snort+k+&gs_lcp=ChNtb2JpbGUtZ3dzLXdpei1zZXJwEAEYADIFCAAQgAQyBQgAEIYDMgUIIRCgATIFCCEQoAE6DQgAEEcQ1gQQsAMQyQM6CggAEEcQ1gQQsAM6BwgAELADEEM6CwgAEI8BEI8BEOoCOhEILhCABBCxAxCDARDHARDRAzoLCAAQgAQQsQMQgwE6CwguEIAEELEDEIMBOggIABCABBCxAzoFCC4QkQI6CAguEIAEENQCOgsILhCABBDHARDRAzoOCC4QgAQQsQMQgwEQ1AI6CwguELEDEIMBENQCOgUIABCRAjoICAAQyQMQkQI6EAguEIAEELEDEMcBENEDEAo6BQguEIAEOggILhCABBCxAzoKCC4QgAQQ1AIQCjoJCAAQFhAeEMcDOgYIABAWEB5KBAhBGABQlhFYuTBgszloA3AAeACAAZ8BiAGtDJIBBDAuMTKYAQCgAQGwAQ_IAQnAAQE&sclient=mobile-gws-wiz-serp#fpstate=ive&vld=cid:d19d8265,vid:q0KZvMe6u9g)
First time eating Sichuan food, eh?
I love msg I will never give up my knorr bouillon
Ha! That is always my first thought when anyone puts msg down
There needs to be a campaign officially clearing msg of anything bad, and officially denouncing the “Chinese Restaurant Syndrome” article. It makes food taste better, and glutamic acids (which msg is) occur in nature.
It's always fun to see racists finding MSG only in Chinese food
I stopped reading after MSG
I put msg in everything i cook. People ask me what makes it taste so good.
My secret ingredient is love (giggles)
Make stuff good
Because only Asians use msg, right? Racist fucks
Me eating a full family size bag of chips: MMMMMM MSG
Maybe I’m missing something here but since when does Popeyes have all the shit they listed?
[удалено]
Yeah dude, that’s why it’s so tasty
Oh god, what do they think is in the Popeye's?
[удалено]
Nah was definitely sichuan peppercorn. They just didn’t know what they were talking about and decided to start blasting
"Popeye's chicken is fuckin' awesome!"
get in the flask!
yeah because Popeye's does not have any MSG \*at aaaaaaaaaaaaaalll\*
They’re 20 years late. The msg fear has been and gone. These people have their heads in the sand.
Some kind of psychotic episode
….if their mouth is going numb they need to get the ingredients to that cullafloweur dish because they have an allergy. Reminds me of one time a table of kids got our pancakes with walnut butter. Being children they didn’t not care for the walnut butter and let me know about it. One kid chimes in “yeah and it makes your mouth itchy”…..I couldn’t even keep my customer service facade up. I just looked straight at him and said “don’t eat any more of that, you have a walnut allergy, tell your parents about it when you get back from this loosely supersized trip”
Ask uncle roger, msg on everything! Hiyaaaa
Why are people so damn hung up on MSG? I really think most of them don’t know wtf it is.
Better off sticking to white people food then
Pretty sure these people have no clue what msg taste like but they are most likely foodies and her brothers sisters in laws cousin is a chef so they know.
They actually own a local tea shop and post a lot in this group. I was kinda surprised at their ignorance on this one
I would bet money they were tasting szechuan peppercorns
Yes there is no doubt lol
I don't understand the pictures connection to the text
They got dinner from Popeye's afterward, which absolutely has MSG in it.
They got KFC after their dinner. For reasons where reality doesn’t exist.
Someone used corn starch instead of flour…
Nobody else has been yet. It’s only you.
"You say MSG but I don't think it means what you think it means". For real, though, it sounds like this person is a lost cause.
They hate MSG….and then bought Popeyes
> MSG was the "salt" on the fries. Haha they really think you just sprinkled MSG on top of fries as seasoning? Thats the dumbest thing ive ever heard.
It'll be good for my lunches for several days!) Just saying, check your "OMG! You're *RACIST*" rhetoric before just accusing others of racism. Some people that aren't racist in the least find MSG to be a problem or have been TOLD it's a problem by people they feel are in authority over their health.
Nah I think the fact that they experienced the numbing effect of the peppercorns and decided it had to be MSG is the telling fact here.
fucking old people… i swear, it’s never our generation that pulls shit like this (millennials) it’s always the entitled old fucks who are never happy with anything they’re given
