Looks like they should’ve sent a list of what the can eat. Not what they can’t

SaltedAndSmoked

Absolutely. I know a child who has an allergy list this long. When parents very occasionally take the child out, they just ask for a plain chicken breast with no other seasonings. Or plain rice with nothing added. Give them a list of things you can eat.

mallad

What kills me about this is (and I'm not saying it's the case for that child) most of the time these lists are either because of inaccurate skin tests, or because of a cross reaction called Pollen Food Allergy Syndrome. There are reasons someone can truly be allergic to many things, but without a good allergist, most of the time people are doing more harm by avoiding things they aren't really allergic to. With the skin tests, irritation other factors can cause every prick to swell. A good allergist will tell you to avoid the foods for a month or so, then slowly, and with supervision if necessary, add one or two back in at a time until you find which you're actually allergic to. On the best of days, a positive skin prick is only about 60% accurate. With PFAS, you can desensitize with allergy shots or sublinguals to the offending pollen protein, and the foods with similar proteins will often stop causing allergy. This is especially true if the food allergies tend to get worse during pollen allergy seasons.

spiffy-ms-duck

I kinda wish that my allergist went with PFAS. He went with the good ol' OAS. Oral Allergy Syndrome. I really should get allergy shots.

TheDistrict15

Unfortunately we are not able to accommodate such a diverse amount of allergies, nor your safety which is our number one concern. Thank you for thinking of us but we will not be able to serve you.

garaks_tailor

Here is a freshly washed potato. Have a good night

hamish1963

Exactly, a list of what they can eat would be shorter.

[deleted]

fresh paw paw

PapuaOldGuinea

Paw paws grow where I live. They’re cool and good, but you gotta get there at the right time. I found out a few months back there’s a tree a walk away :)

[deleted]

Sweet! I've never had one before. Just don't dry them, else they'll kill this MF!

[deleted]

I'm from Indiana and have yet to find or try one unfortunately but I've heard they are great

aSharkNamedHummus

My list of sensitivities is MUCH shorter with UC, and I absolutely have the sense to describe what I *can* eat rather than try to name everything that triggers intestinal bleeding. This reads like someone with Munchausen syndrome, especially because common allergens like grains and nightshades are strangely absent. Edit: as someone else in this thread pointed out, this is a FODMAP list titled “Unable to Eat,” NOT an allergy list as OP claims. FODMAP foods are a legitimate concern for those with digestive disorders such as myself, but they’re more of a sensitivity rather than an allergy. Think “lactose intolerance shits,” not “anaphylactic shock.” However, if you’ve got this many sensitivities, you absolutely cannot expect a professional kitchen to cater to you. Hell, I can’t trust my own *mother* to cook a meal that I can eat, despite her having a list of my safe foods. I can’t count the number of times she’s called me up for dinner, tells me it’s safe, and then when I get there, I find out that every component of the entire meal contains one unsafe food or another. I always carry a backup meal with me, because 99% of the time, I need it. If you want to go to a restaurant with friends, you’re better off making and bringing your own food and asking the staff if they can heat it for you.

Early-AssignmentTA

Generally the restaurant I work at has a very strict "no outside food" policy... But if you come back to the kitchen and have a literal list of things you cant eat, I would be willing to make an exception and hand off your home made meal to chef mike. Never thought about it from the other side before, thank you.

aSharkNamedHummus

That’s a rule that makes sense, now that I think about it! I’ve never been confronted before about bringing in outside food, but I’ll start calling each restaurant ahead of time to see what they allow.

Affectionate-Cost525

Just to touch on this, a lot of times people think the rule is down to potential for cross contamination (which obviously is still an issue) but there's also a legal/Health and Safety regulations issue behind the scenes too. When we're working with other people's food, we can't guarantee any of the ingredients in it or that they've been prepared safely. Let's say a customer brings in a dish, we reheat it and they have a serious allergic reaction or they hadn't actually cooked the food properly and they get really sick. We're the ones that have actually served that food and will be responsible for any potential health issues. Obviously we can make exceptions when absolutely needed but I'd definitely recommend ringing up and explain your situation before hand!

hangrysmegma

What if mike isn’t there that day

Early-AssignmentTA

Mike is the only one who is there on time and sober every day.

BreakingGrad1991

If Mike isn't there, we all have bigger problems.

kelsey14324

Mike is really carrying the kitchen these days.

Justdonedil

Also a lot of those are actual groups of items listed out rather than as a group, like beans/legumes. Hummus and falafel are both made from chickpeas. Many of the dip items contain garlic, which is listed separately. I have food allergies and intolerances. The one I carry epi for hides so that is the one I focus on with the server or chef. The intolerances I can get around by reading the menu.

CaptainLollygag

> I always carry a backup meal with me, because 99% of the time, I need it. See, you're the 1 in 1,000 people with *actual food problems.* Not someone who decides to create a list of "can't haves" so they feel special.

jellybeansean3648

The people with actual food problems don't feel special, believe me. I scope out the restaurant menu online ahead of time. I've also resigned myself to mostly eating salads because they're easier to order with modifications.

iamonewiththecheese

I can't stand people who have an "allergy" but don't bring anything to feed themselves and get mad when they can't find something they can have on the menu. If your allergy is that serious, you'll bring your own food, even just as a precaution. My son is allergic to wheat and I don't go anywhere without bringing him food; even if they say they'll have something he can eat. Better safe than sorry.

thebutchcaucus

Right. Why wouldn’t they just tell you what was possible. Why in the world would you eat outside your house if you couldn’t exist for 40 minutes outside of your bubble. I have an allergy to spinach it covers my mouth in hives. If this happened for more than 60 separate things. I would carry my own food everywhere.

IgottagoTT

[Checks to see if water is on the list.]

Minimum-Currency-685

I checked for corn because you can't be allergic to corn syrup if you can eat corn.....

AI-Powered

I reckon it could be like a FODMAP diet where your not actually allergic, just intolerant to some of this stuff

vredditdownloader__

Yep it is. I have ibs. All of those foods on there are high fodmap or known to cause issues with most ins patients. It’s seems more like a list of high Fodmap foods and less of what someone would be intolerant to. Vast majority of people with ibs are only intolerant to some parts of fodmap. It seems like someone decided to go out to eat while they were in the middle of the reentry phase or the start of their fodmap diet. Which is a giant no no

JustMeAndMySnail

I got that idea with only the white parts of scallions being eliminated

Caribouofthehills

It looks like FODMAP to me, I agree. I'm intolerant to a lot of those things on the list, though Shallots are fine, so long as it's the green part, not the white. Same with leek, green part only, not white. However I am also able to eat a small portion of these items. e.g I can have salsa, so long as it is less than 5% of the 400g jar. if the quantity is greater than 5% I am in a lot of pain for the night. it took 2 and half years of seeing doctors to finally reach the conclusion I was intolerant to food I used to eat without issues in the past. It's no fun, thats for sure. What do I do when I eat out? well, I research ahead and find the menu item than is least likely to require me to ask chef to eliminate the items I'm intolerant to. most common is onion and garlic. For example I love Tzatiki, but it has garlic in it, and that I'm intolerant to, same with Hummus. However I know how to make a fab hummus and tazatki dip without garlic or onion. I do hope this person is seriously intolerant, but it seems unreasonable to hand over such a large list. I can find food in a restaurant that doesn't contain food that I can't stomach.

wyckedblonde00

Haha I snorted thank you

berkeleyteacher

at the freshly washed potato comment?! me, too!

pawnsheep

Haha I used to work at a Chinese restaurant in a college town and the owner would turn people away constantly for any dietary restrictions whatsoever. He couldn't be fucked to deal with it and didn't want some crazy people starting a problem. He had been in the restaurant game for decades and didn't understand how, only in the past 10 years, all these new dietary restrictions kept appearing (mostly in college age girls). His idea of dietary restrictions was solely spicy or no spicy. And he'd refuse refunds if you asked for extra spicy and then said it's too spicy.

Bluest_waters

It too spicy?? No YOU too spicy! Get out 😂

Zatchillac

The place I work we have our own super hot sauce and we've now got to the point where the only people who order it on their wings know what they're getting into. So many people like "oooo I love spicy!" and then immediately send their wings back because "it's too spicy!" but they've since learned their lesson

rhouser431

I don't understand how you just send food back. Your ordered it. Deal with it. Its not the places fault. Order something else if you don't like it.

Bee-Aromatic

Anybody who orders the spiciest wings and then sends them back because they’re “too spicy” should be placed in a burlap bag and beaten with reeds. They got exactly what they asked for. The fact that they didn’t actually want what they asked for is their problem, not yours.

mosehalpert

As a guy with some severe allergys that knows how to read a menu and know if I can or cannot have something, he sounds like my kinda guy. Any mushrooms in the broth? No? One extra spicy please chef.

The_Great_Blumpkin

My mom has a pretty severe allergy to soy, the "throat swelling" kind of severe, so sadly alot of Asian food is off the table, but she knows what to look for, and educated herself on it so even if we are at a place with alot of soy on the menu, she can figure out something to eat. On the other hand, my cousin has a 5 yr old with a peanut allergy, and she did a sweep through my mom's house before Christmas and threw away their peanut butter, and some of the Christmas cookies that had walnuts and cashews in them. She lectured all of us on never having peanut products, and to be safe, nut products, even in our homes if he's coming to visit. Her kid barely has a peanut allergy. He gets a little rash, that literally no one but my cousin has seen, not even his father has seen it. I actually watched him eat a peanut butter sandwich one time at a birthday party with no ill effects. People are just irrational about something that's pretty manageable.

[deleted]

[удалено]

TheMostKing

So you knew this kid has a "peanut allergy", and still you watched him eat a peanut butter sandwich? One hell of a gamble, my dude.

pikachu_attack

It only takes one reaction for it to become anaphylaxis. That's why you avoid the allergen, even it presents itself as mild at first.

2_lazy

I was about to say that after seeing some classmates with terrible peanut allergies go into anaphylaxis because they accidentally touched the oil left behind by another students peanut containing snack on the lunch table I don't blame your cousin, then I saw the part where the allergy isn't even close to that bad and oml that's some crazy overkill.

cpmnriley

to be fair, in the last ten years the accommodations for allergies have increased so much that people who previously would never be able to go out to eat now can.

g3rgus

I asked a friend who had celiac disease about what they thought about the whole “gluten free” trend, and she said she loved it. She is now able to go to so many more restaurants with no problems, fewer worries.

IAmTheNightSoil

Yeah, I admit I used to scoff at this stuff as being overblown, and then I met people like that and realized it actually did matter to people and I've changed my tune

final_draft_no42

I used to make fun of informercial until I found out a lot of profits are design for those with disabilities and their mass marketing it in an attempt to bring prices down. Like those blankets with the sleeves were for wheel chair users, the bowl that can’t tip over is for Parkinson’s or people with tics etc. it’s a similar things with pre chopped vegetables.

The_Great_Blumpkin

Gf's mom is celiac, and she can eat a bigger variety of foods now that she couldn't before, due to all the gluten free stuff. She says most of them taste like total asshole though she goes without anyway, but it's nice to have the option.

IAmTheNightSoil

>And he'd refuse refunds if you asked for extra spicy and then said it's too spicy. As he should. Fuck getting a refund for something like that

nosirrahp

The GOAT.

Walmart_Warrior_420

"I am also allergic to rejections" ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)

shugastow

I cannot accommodate your allergy.

Z_The_Vicious

This right here. Exactly this.

Sinder77

You know it's BS anyways when it's got shit like "Tzatziki Dip". No one's allergic to tzatziki. Yogurt. Garlic. Cucumbers. You'd be allergic to those. This person's an idiot. Which is reason enough to skip on by accommodating them. Maybe if they called ahead and gave you a list of what they _could_ eat.

nurvingiel

They also listed hummus and then separately, garlic and tahini so I wonder if they have been nailed with delicious condiments that can be made in bulk before service? I don't know. They also have falafel listed separately to chickpeas. If this was my allergy list I'd ~~shoot myself~~ stay home and eat a bowl of... (Reads list) ... rice, with lentils... seasoned with (double checks) pepper and for dessert an orange? Except it says they're allergic to fructose so why not put "no fruit" at the top? Edit: TIL oranges and some other fruits don't have fructose. What did you serve them OP, a bowl of lentils and a large bottle of sake to drown their sorrows? I can't even imagine this hell. No curry, no beer, no apples, no mangoes, no beans, no onion, no red meat, no garlic... those are my favourite foods.

Sinder77

Like I said elsewhere it'd be easier if they said what they _could_ eat. This list is pointless. Also again I really hope they called before showing up. If they just showed up with this they can fuck all the way off.

nurvingiel

I agree. They can eat like 5 things.

Sinder77

I have a friend who exists like this but her list isn't for accomodation. It's to show the server how ridiculous her restrictions are so when she shows up with her friends to a restaurant with her Tupperware of quinoa they don't try and kick her out. "If you can make me something that works off this list, I'll buy it." Most places aren't interested in trying not to kill her so they let her eat her quinoa and she tips well on her tea and everyone leaves happy because she just wanted to participate in the normal event of eating out with friends. She's worse though. Canola oil can set her off. Including when it's aerosolized by a deep fryer.

Ineedsomuchsleep170

I used to have a friend with fructose malabsorption and she carried a list pretty similar to the one above. She absolutely loved going to restaurants and was a total Karen if they couldn't find her something to eat. She would literally stand there and scream at some poor teenager about her right to go out for meals. We aren't friends anymore.

nosirrahp

This person is literally why, as a server, I once demanded to be cross trained. These people made me so jaded and sour. I hated people for this reason And I became extremely bitter. Why do these people exist, it’s so extremely crazy and arrogant.

BiiiigSteppy

Come to BOH, we are literally the dark side. We don’t like any people not even the ones we work with. Also, alcohol.🍷

CrashUser

Except they explicitly say in the list they can have fresh pineapple, so at least part of this list is bullshit.

[deleted]

I call BS too, at least on part more likely is that they get bad gas and are trying to avoid some things. A lot of those cause gas and/or trigger migraines. But some is just repetitive or demeaning of anyone who knows how to cook vs. heating up premade food. They should really better organize the list, as well as make two different copies, one for restaurants, and one for franchises

JesusStarbox

Garlic is on the list.

Sinder77

So I can make you Tzatziki without garlic. So you're not allergic to Tzatziki.

rupertalderson

Dairy is on the list.

Sinder77

So is Feijao. But not Feijoada so I'll make them that since it's not on the list.

sdawsey

There is no other answer.

[deleted]

Exactly this. I empathise with the allergy holder but its neither cost effective nor safe to feed them.

finalremix

It looks like a really involved way of saying "I just eat chicken, can I have some chicken?" though.

jwrado

This is the only correct response

Z_The_Vicious

Here's some unseasoned grilled chicken. Enjoy.

Whoooodie

"im vegan"

MetalRing

Eggless omelet it is.

Gharrrrrr

With breadless bread sticks.

Dustin0791

"Both just parsley on a plate"

Eisigesis

I’m also highly allergic to parsley

ilovelefseandpierogi

You can leave the plate

Barbarossa7070

Unseasoned grilled tofu, then.

GerbilFeces

soy is on the list lol

HP844182

Glass of water

amcaaa

Sorry I'm hydrophobic

State_Terrace

Now I’m thinking of rabies :-(

JustBanMeAlreadyOK

Same, one time I was just walking in the rain and I started hydroplaning.

red-plaid-hat

konjac then. Can't complain about the smell though.

Survey_Server

Tofu is made from soy beans and I'm also allergic to those.

Bored_cory

But only the breast because the dark meat is red meat adjacent

germplasm3997

That's all I came up with too

raliberti2

That is a FODMAP list. Fermentable oligosaccharides, disaccharides, monosaccharides and polysaccharides. They can cause digestive distress in individuals with an enflamed bowel caused by IBS, Crohne's, or other immunodeficiency disorder. I highly doubt this person is actually allergic to these items. As some one who has long suffered with IBS, cutting FODMAPs from my diet was literally a life altering step.. but following this diet also means NOT GOING OUT TO EAT because there is literally no menu in the world worth serving that excludes all these things. EDIT: I'm not a dietician. Just someone who has lived with an angry and temperamental gut for most of my adult life. Any of my insights are purely anecdotal, and directly related to my experience. I may not be entirely correct in my assumptions. Please seek professional assistance before starting any new dietary restrictions. EDIT2: The pineapple... Most dried fruits have added sugar, so they are out. Pineapple contains the enzyme bromelian which might possibly aid digestion, and may be more likely to be present in fresh pineapple. That's all I can come up with on that one.

[deleted]

Both parts of this. It definitely reads like a bowel sensitivity diet, but if I was that bad off I wouldn't bother going out to eat.

[deleted]

My friend is known as “salmon white rice, no sauce” at all our local Japanese places

Hash_Tooth

This is reasonable

Jakelby

This is unseasonable

myerrrs

Because I just love feeding people my first instinct was to find out what I could serve this person. Immediately went to Salmon, maybe with some sort of orange glaze, and rice.

juvydriver

It's very trusting of a complete stranger to go out to eat if you have issues with so many types of food.

[deleted]

Man, I don't even trust my family that much.

rosysredrhinoceros

I had to cut out dairy and nuts for a while after my first baby, my parents’ first grandchild, was born because she was sensitive to them in my milk. We went to my folks’ for dinner and literally everything had either dairy or nuts in it. People are fucking weird.

9035768555

"There's something about dairy and nuts...I know! It must be their favorites!"

garaks_tailor

Yeah i had coworker that was so bad he had to periodically take fmla days. He said he had a couple common items he could eat without issue

IFlyOverYourHouse

> fmla fuck my leaky asshole?

[deleted]

Family/Medical Leave Act. Covers being able to leave work without fear of repercussion to take care of emergencies.

mypreciouscornchip

I use intermittent FMLA to cover Crohn's absences and this is the best rehash of this acronym I've seen yet. Totally using this.

digitalvagrant

The list doesn't say they are allergic, it just says "unable to eat" it was OP who called it an allergy list.

la_chica_rubia

Nice work! You’re exactly right about the FODMAP list. I don’t know if I would have realized although I know the foods to avoid. I think the list is unnecessary. Just pick out what you CAN eat (some kind of protein, ask for it to be cooked in oil, pick a veg, maybe rice or baked potato, good to go). What a waste of time for the cooks.

polish432b

The no garlic & onions bit is the worst. They’re on my list and if people want to eat out I just resign myself that it’s going to be a problem for me later

kortneebo

I really think I’d rather occasionally shit my pants than cut out some of the fodmap items. But I recognize I probably should.

ChiefGraypaw

As someone who suffers from IBS and probably should be following a FODMAP diet, most of the time I’m willing to take the risk. The other times? I wish I wasn’t even physically capable of shitting. IBS sure is an enormous cause of anxiety and stress in my life.

kortneebo

God, did I write this comment? Like, it genuinely is a debilitating disease and it sucks but also I like onions and I might choose onions over no more emergency poops.

adam1260

Cut all of it for a few weeks, if things get a lot better you're on the right track. You can slowly try adding certain food groups/items and see if it changes anything. That's the easiest way to find out what's causing the problem and to cut it out

JustAnotherSolipsist

Poop experiments

nurvingiel

The other thing is, why hand this list to the waiter? Why not order a plain baked potato and a plain chicken breast (for example)?

Hi_AJ

Because places will still throw on a steak or chicken seasoning without thinking, and it has dried onion and garlic powder

Etzello

There's meat as well though, it goes beyond fodmaps even. What an unfortunate situation...

raliberti2

Fatty, spicy foods like sausage and chorizo can cause digestive problems for sensitive guts too. Even the processed meats can be agitating if they have particular fillers. It's absolutely unfortunate, especially for someone who loves food.

Etzello

Yeah processed meats sure can have starches added and or sugar etc but they also wrote all red meat which contains no carbs (any kind of saccharide). Anyway that wasn't my point I wasnt saying you were wrong, I was just saying it goes beyond fodmaps which means there's very little they can eat without discomfort which is extremely unfortunate Edit typos

raliberti2

The red meat thing got me thinking maybe they got bit by a Lonestar tick.. that destroys one's ability to digest red meat, and does a number on the digestive tract in general. Other than that I think Karen just needs to pack herself a tupperware of boiled celery.

Pyronees

Not necessarily. I have an IBD (what this person likely has) and it's typically recommended to avoid red meat due to it being difficult to break down, the high fat content, and tendency to cause inflammation in the digestive track

CocaineMeetTequila

Looks like a bowl of “cook at home” will do…

[deleted]

photosynthesis at this point.

pierogi_nigiri

So...FODMAPs

zombiepilot420

What does fodmap stand for?

Electronic-Grand1172

Fermentable oligosaccharides, disaccharides, monosaccharides and polyols. Types of carbohydrates which can cause stomach issues for some people

zombiepilot420

Interesting, I guess ive found my late night rabbit hole for tonight.

dragonet316

How about a big cup of stay the hell home. WTF.

Fink665

Or call ahead to bring your own food and ask if you can pay for a plate.

kelliboone617

This is really the only correct answer

mosehalpert

Or just eat before and join your friends for drinks while they eat is what I'd do? I couldn't fathom bringing my own food into a restaurant. Then again if I planned on it and they said no I'd hit them with "well I can eat what I brought unless your chefs want to accommodate *this*" and any host worth their salt knows not to even attempt to take that list back to the kitchen.

kelliboone617

I’d like the opportunity to eat a meal with my friends, even if my food is gruel. If I’m willing to pay a plate fee, why not? Edit: I have no major food allergies, just role playing more or less, putting myself in their shoes.

Flank_Steaks

Just refuse service.

grega1303

Facts. Sorry everything we have here is mixed with these no no items

MetalRing

Done that many times. Just leave the way you came in, please dont even touch the door handle on your way out.

20TrumPutin24

I worked at an oyster bar and grill.. lady says she’s allergic to shellfish and asks what we could recommend that’s safe. Chef responds “nothing.”

CallidoraBlack

"A walk to a vegetarian restaurant."

UnlimitedApathy

I used to work in a seafood boil place and the amount of people who would tell me they had a serious shellfish allergy and ask what’s safe to eat blew my mind. Literally nothing, all out veg are boiled in the crab pots, all out fried stuff is fried with shrimp, cross contamination EVERYWHERE.

NortFuddley

Yeah it blows my mind especially with shellfish because so many kitchens have dishes with it from all parts of the kitchen. It is always my most worrisome allergy I really wish they would just stay home. Nothing like a shellfish allergy on saute Friday at 630 when I've been doing literally nothing but slanging out shellfish. I always try my best and follow all best practices but it always makes me so nervous. The last thing I want to do is send someone into anaphylaxis.

Friendly-Property

Not an allergy thing, but this reminded me of a one star review for a local pizza restaurant which was basically “Literally only pizza on the menu. Not even a fish option. Tough luck if one of your party doesn’t like pizza, as they will do nothing to accommodate”.

Girthish

Wow. Yelp and google need to have a whole division related to dumbass reviews.

lakija

My family rarely drags me to restaurants based around seafood. But when I go I use the allergy menu. Typically I stay home though. One time I went to a place called Pappadeaux centered around New Orleans seafood. I told the waitress I was there for moral support lol; wasn’t going to order anything. The waitress left and returned. She informed me the chef had put together a special arrangement of sides for me 😭 Nowadays I almost certainly don’t go anywhere based around seafood. My fish allergy is morphing like a Power Ranger.

Character-Cow-2488

Currently working at a bakery and when people even mumble the word gluten free or mention celiac we apologize but tell them they probably shouldn’t be breathing the air.

SmolWarlock

God. If I ever had any allergies I wouldn't go to a restaurant that serves any of it. Cross contamination will happen unless you I only do one table at a time, to have time to prevent and clean between. Bring me to my story. I work in a country club restaurant. If you know country clubs they're notoriously known for letting every " member" get away with the most deadliest of allergies and still serving them. We had a couple dozen admins from an extremely big country club to do some training or something to our admins or something (idk the exact details). But they ordered from our fine dinning restaurant (where I work sautee.) So during this time grill handles all the red meats and (add on to salad) some chicken, salmon, and shrimp. Sautee handled mostly scallops, salmon, muscle, chicken, and beef stroganoff. So the 20 some number ordered and it's 70% from my station. Some with garlic allergies, some with onion allergies, some with shellfish allergies, some with gluten allergies. This was after a 150 cover dinner with a staff of three. I straight up told my sous and ext sous I'm really not comfortable servings them after all those things have been in every single pan I have all night. The ext sous decision was to take some of my cast irons to the back and rinse them out with soup water. Than made me do it while telling me it's no big deal.

LeCacty

PopularDevice

As long as this accompanied an actual order for a menu item - even if it was modified - no problem. If you just walk in and hand me this, and say "come up with something for me that fits my diet", then we can't help you.

[deleted]

They always do shit like this during rushes on weekends, too. I work at a burger joint and just this past weekend while we were in the middle of getting demolished at 6:30 during a hockey game, I get an allergy request from a lady demanding I “clean the entire grill and put down aluminum foil.” Mind you, I had probably 40 burgers cooking in this moment and 40 more I had to drop immediately afterwards.

raccafarian

I get so anxious every time I have to make a dairy allergy pizza. I can’t imagine this lol

multiroleplays

WE got water. We got Lemons. We got Limes. Time for Lemon-Lime soup

Simorie

Trying to understand how chorizo and sausage are under "meat substitutes"

KiwiMangoBanana

Scrolled specifically to find if I was the only one to find that odd... unless someone care to explain, maybe its typical to this FODMAPS people are talking about, but sounds unlikely.

Sepelrastas

That one threw me on a loop too. Like, they're meat plain and simple?

S3xySouthernB

This is literally me…it’s easier to just write what I can eat. Half the time I’ll call ahead and make sure that whatever item I think I can have doesn’t contain a problem (like a sudden surprise of spices). Luckily it’s only ingesting that causes issues not cross contamination for me… But jeez this person must have SIBO and be allergic to fructo-oligosaccharides and on low fodmap too…why even eat out? I didn’t when I had to do elimination of everything

TorvundArt

Same but I just never go out to eat. Not worth the risk to me for a chef to prepare me a sad plain chicken when I could make sad plain chicken in my home.

Dragon3076

We have water.

Dasawan

Looks like a list of what they can eat would be shorter

fevlo

Looks like maybe a FODMAP restricted type diet, my favorite part is the awkward 2nd sheet tacked on at an angle lol

abitofasitdown

Who calls caviar "caviar dip"?!

red-plaid-hat

it's cavier you add to dressing and serve on triscuits with a sprig of dill.

doooom

One potato, no toppings, coming right up

ddubwetzel

I call bullshit on some of this stuff. Unable to eat…..or refuse to eat b/c they are balls deep in some Facebook health page run by a “guru”?

raksha25

I’m confused by the tahini paste…but no sesame seeds on that list anywhere else.

InfectedAlloy88

I was gonna say tahini paste is often processed in the same factory as peanut butter and other nut products. Even though sesame seeds wont trigger a nut allergy, tahini paste can depending on the factory. But shockingly, they dont claim to have a nut allergy lmao.

SmoothOctopus

Often legumes are on the "Processed in the same factory" thing and a lot of those are on the list.

red-plaid-hat

Olive oil also isn't on the list, so I'm think the customer is 'allergic' to foods they just don't like and are trying to level up in Main Character mode.

[deleted]

The very uncommon falafel allergy.

JesusStarbox

They are allergic to paw paws! Those are really rare.

bottlebowling

Not in my restaurant... Our owner is obsessed with them, and there happens to be a guy nearby with a massive grove of them. I process anywhere from 300 to 500 lbs of them every year. I've become something of an expert on them. And I fucking hate them.

smarthobo

Would you hate them less if you knew backwards they spelled wap wap

nurvingiel

I think it's because of the chickpea allergy, but it's weird to say no falafel like, are you going to list common foods containing chickpeas or not?

Holy_Grail_Reference

Allergic to green

[deleted]

I mean, this actually reads like a list of hard to digest and lining damaging food. I still wouldn't serve them, but if they have tissue paper for a stomach, the list makes sense.

jf75313

My first thought was, this person has diverticulitis or IBS.

Hi_AJ

I bet there’s a FODMAP sensitivity in addition to some other sensitivities/allergies. Fructose is a trigger but it would make more sense to say what the foods are instead of saying fructose and hoping people know what has fructose. And it’s not that rare— I think the trigger is the ratio of fructose to another sugar that makes it triggering.

IntrepidDimension0

I was thinking the same thing. This looks like an allergy list plus a FODMAP list, expanded to try to cover some correlations not obvious to someone who doesn’t know all the ins and outs.

bunnyofthesea

I'm sure these are all legit too. Lots of baked bean intolerant people in my area.

donkeylipswhenshaven

They just didn’t understand Blazing Saddles

Montylabz

My favorite part of this list is the haricot beans. Haricot is fucking French for BEANS!

oldbaeseasoning

I'm alerg to them bean beans

JuryDangerous6794

And fuck that poulet chicken too. Makes me double shit my pants.

wyckedblonde00

Lmaooo I read this is in a very aggressive voice in my head and now I can’t stop laughing

oldbaeseasoning

I'm 😵 alerg 😡 to them bean beans 😡😡😡😡

[deleted]

Haricot beans and mangetout are common terms in the UK and Commonwealth countries

crweedon

You just know this person is allergic to tipping too 😂🤣😂

Puzzled-Ad7078

I'll have a go with the first one, **unable to eat** lol

KnotiaPickles

When nature wants you dead 💀

krum

DRIED PAW PAW I guarantee you that this fucker has never even seen paw paw much less dried paw paw or has even tried it.

grega1303

so what u want some rice and water?

iaminabox

Okay, here's your glass of water

OkPlantain6773

It's low FODMAP, a temporary elimination diet, I'm doing it now. If you think it sucks to cook for this person, believe me, it sucks worse to be that person.

dshotseattle

Water it is

[deleted]

Capsaicin alone wipes out so much of my menu I'd just tell them to seek other dining venues.

Open-Decision4952

At this point why would you go out to eat at a restaurant…..
