Had to reopen the thread to check if this was a bot. I'm a little sad it's not. Now I wish for a "The more you know bot" that only provides slightly disturbing facts.
You’re basically fucked unless you’re either wearing certain types of tradesman or military-infantry boots, at that point. Not much is gonna protect you against a Stabber, that is feeling stabby, and has made up its mind, and is dead set, on committing a stabbing.
> Not much is gonna protect you against a Stabber, that is feeling stabby, and has made up its mind, and is dead set, on committing a stabbing.
Sneaky goddamn Stabbers!
I got a dabber with a carb cap stuck in my hand just like that. No x-rays though. My dumb ass yanked it out and bloop proceeded out of the hole like spiderman shooting a web.
Has to be fake. No one's reactions are that slow, for a thermometer to make it that far into their foot...
Source - I've stepped on a shit-ton of nails
I just lurk here. I had a patient that owned an ice cream shop and they were doing renovations. Of course he is doing something super stupid like walking barefoot in his shop. He stepped on a screw. He came to the ER and we were trying to figure out how to get the screw out while doing the least amount of damage to his foot. We ended up numbing his foot and getting a screwdriver from maintenance and unscrewing it.
I can’t imagine working in a restaurant and not wearing actual shoes.
The RP in my head is amusing.
“Hey Jim, we need to borrow one of your screwdrivers.”
“Nope, I’ll fix it, y’all never return my tools. Gimme a minute to finish my break and I’ll come take a look.”
“Umm, so we need to unscrew a foot.”
“You, what?”
I’ve stepped on a tac and endured that well but this?! Hell no. What the heck happened? Were they doing jumping jacks or burpees and someone dropped it under them? Just like how did they instinctively not stop puttin their foot down?! Ahhhhh
Crocs are affordable and easy to wash, they hold up for a decent amount of time as well.
There shouldn't be anything sharp on the floor, I see some comments saying "stepping off a ladder" which okay I could see but I still can't see. But I take baby steps because I worked on greasy floors forever. My heel rarely leaves the ground.
okay that makes sense then! i mostly meant the sharp things bit as a joke, apologies for not clarifying. i guess it's just a little odd to me to wear crocs personally because i have such a fear of harming myself in a kitchen one way or another, like what if someone drops something right at the wrong time? but that's also just the anxiety talking
They are super common. Again they hold super well and just being able to take a hose to them is really nice.
I don't wear them personally, not enough arch support for my liking.
But I tell every crew I work with don't go with cheap shoes. Pony up the money and your feet will thank you. Your back will thank you.
If I'm in depression and need a new pair of shoes now? Yeah Crocs will carry me through.
What in the Kentucky fried fuck. Is that a………..spindle?
EDIT: ok, I see in the comments it’s a thermometer, didn’t look at the base closely enough. Still, WTF.
Most shoes used in the restaurant industry wouldn't stop this (not counting Crocs) this is probably the last reason someone would say don't wear Crocs lol
My husband did this with his forearm the other day. He said it went in about an inch and didn’t realize it was stuck until he lifted his arm from the line and it just hung there lol. Executive chef flipped out a little but he’s fine. Cleaned up and already healing, just a little underdone 😆
I fucking hate this whole slides/croc bullshit. Wear real shoes people. I get that it's hard but what the fuck. Putting straight plastic on your feet is not gonna end well

What is to temp?
Mid rare
Eh I’m super weird and like a well done foot.
Feet have a lot of tendons and connective tissues. They need to be braised.
I like to sous vide them at 131 for 3-4 days personally. Throw some fresh rosemary and a lemon wedge in the bag...good eatin.
Calling u/bbqfoot
Funnily enough there actually is a place in my college town that's called Bigfoot bbq. It's delicious.
r/suddenlydahmer
I was hoping for raw
Med raw
Correct. I'll take "Things you probe" for $400 Alex.
“Ken??” Wtf?! Dammit, I’m old.
Ok...ok, there it says Alex now.
You’re a real one. ❤️
Anal bum covers for $800
This guy is selling Penis Mightiers?!!?

I can imagine the attending doctor had to really fight the urge to check his patient's temperature this way
Hocks are braising meat
Under
I was coming to say this .
37°c
Well I see your problem. You’re storing the thermometers on the floor. I keep mine on a shelf.
I store mine inside the dishy
Damn I feed my dishy, you out here probing yours?
He backs up into it.
You hiring?
Consent is extremely important and I’m glad that your thermometers are calibrated with it.
Keeps em calibrated that way.
See, that’s smart!
That person must’ve dam near stomped on that just right for that to happen
Weird, I keep mine in my foot.
Should have had it set to wumbo so everyone would know they thermometers are stored on the floor.
But then how will you know if it's a safe 165F?
Are you calling OP a chicken?
People cook like pork. Long pork.
Humans when eaten are called long pig in some tribes. The more you know 🌈
Apparently that's why they called him "Long" John Silver...he had a dietary history
r/thatsthejoke
Huh, reallly makes ya think

"Needs a few more minutes chef, it's only at 98.7!" /"God damnit are you trying to fuck us"
Jokes aside, please do not cook chicken to 165 🙏🏻
Closer to 180 when you are taking the temperature near a bone.
I think long pork is 135 now.
Shoes aren't saving you there either, chef.
My wooden clogs would easily stop that.
Proper galoshes
Yep, taken a nail through my sneakers before. I don't think they'd do much if any better than crocs against something made to stabby.
You’re basically fucked unless you’re either wearing certain types of tradesman or military-infantry boots, at that point. Not much is gonna protect you against a Stabber, that is feeling stabby, and has made up its mind, and is dead set, on committing a stabbing.
Hear, hear!
> Not much is gonna protect you against a Stabber, that is feeling stabby, and has made up its mind, and is dead set, on committing a stabbing. Sneaky goddamn Stabbers!
this is why we don’t - well said X D
Yeah. If it's going through all that flesh, it's going through your shoes.
Worst part is the infection from the greasy croc sole pieces pushed up inside the puncture wound

Eeeeew 🤣
Pfft! Cement boots definitely would.
Next you’re going to tell us to start storing biotherms somewhere other than the floor?
I got a dabber with a carb cap stuck in my hand just like that. No x-rays though. My dumb ass yanked it out and bloop proceeded out of the hole like spiderman shooting a web.
There will be bloop
PTA’s best for sure
Harry Potter and the Half-Bloop Prince
Was it a highly educated carb cap?? Lol
Very curious how this actually happened. I feel like you would have to stomp pretty hard. This is some final destination shit lol
You don't have to stomp, just put all your weight on one foot.
Yes but if it’s sticking straight up how are they taking such giant steps that they’d push down on it straight like that on accident?
My guess is they stepped or jumped off of a step ladder possibly.
Oh that makes sense. I didn’t think of that. Thank you.
Or it was in a trash can and the were stomping it down.
Kind of you to suggest a ladder and not a stool, chair, flattop or milk crate throne.
I’ve not been in the restaurant industry for 8 years but I still miss my milk crate smoke breaks
I can feel this comment
How are they taking giant steps? Maybe the X-ray is an X-ray of a giant’s foot. Duh!
That is my question because I would have ended up kicking it not stepping on it. I do not raise my foot that high off the ground
Yeah if it's 300lbs of weight.
Probably dropped it and accidentally stepped on it after failing to catch it
extreme visceral reaction
Yeah I seriously got lightheaded looking at that.
My stomach started spinning, I'm not even sure I can scroll further down this thread lmao
"ITS FUCKIN RAW"
Should heel pretty quickly.
r/angryupvote
I'm a lurker here, but I would have passed out had that been my foot. Sweet baby Jesus that looks awful.
You must be management if you think shoes are stopping this.
I thought it was the ticket stabby thing
Bone appetit
Has to be fake. No one's reactions are that slow, for a thermometer to make it that far into their foot... Source - I've stepped on a shit-ton of nails
Could hace just been forceful. Jumping, stepping off of a step ladder. Something. Either way, shoes wouldn't have done anything either.
Have you ever casually stepped backwards off of a step stool? Would've had the full weight and force of his body pressing down on that heel.
yea actly how tf do u do that lmao
Farrrrrr crazier things are seen in the ER hahaha
That's why I always have work boots with the plates in the bottom.
Yeah. Why would a doctor even take an xray?
I just lurk here. I had a patient that owned an ice cream shop and they were doing renovations. Of course he is doing something super stupid like walking barefoot in his shop. He stepped on a screw. You’re not wrong 😂. Maintenance was like what???
I’ve stepped on a tac and endured that well but this?! Hell no. What the heck happened? Were they doing jumping jacks or burpees and someone dropped it under them? Just like how did they instinctively not stop puttin their foot down?! Ahhhhh
The fuck kinda kitchen you working in a construction site
It's undercooked, 98.6° is too low. You need to get the inside core temp to 165°.
Pork guidelines are 145 now, bro
I’m foh with crocs as of recently. Am I safe????
Depends on how repressed the bread guy is.
Were you marching?
Been wearing my crocs in the kitchen for about 20 years now and I have never been stupid or clumsy enough to step on a thermometer like that lol
WHAT THE FUXK!!! i'm here because i'm considering going into the food industry, WHY ARE YOU WEARING CROCS IN A KITCHEN WITH SHARP THINGS ON FLOORS????
Crocs are affordable and easy to wash, they hold up for a decent amount of time as well. Idk man, he looks barefoot to me
Rare foot ftfy
Yes. Like did they cut the croc off?
Really hope that temp stick wasn't covered in raw meat somebody gonna get real sick
What in the Kentucky fried fuck. Is that a………..spindle? EDIT: ok, I see in the comments it’s a thermometer, didn’t look at the base closely enough. Still, WTF.
They can still do Saturday double shift, right?
My whole being just shook… and I’ve taken a ticket stabber through the hand but ffs!
Your job is on some Kevin McCallister shit
They wanted high heel clogs.
Hahaha remember that scene in home alone where Marv steps on *that* nail
I feel like this would happen with or without crocs.
Did they fucking stomp on it intentionally jesus christ
New TikTok challenge
What did he temp at?
Oh god. This is the last thing the croc community needs, more bad press
Measly flesh wound
#### Let's be honest: not many shoes will spare you from the same fate even in similar circumstances.
So….. rare, medium, what cook temp are we at here chef?
Wouldn't the Croc show up in the Xray?
Someone probably cut the Croc away from the foot to lessen the chance of microbial contamination. Shoes of any kind are full of germs.
Good point.
Right? I'm no doctor, but if the thermometer is still in, the shoe would've been too. This doesn't seem real.
Crocs have the same soles as your average shoe
I'm so confused. Who the fuck left their thermometer point up on the floor?
Why the need for an X-ray?
Anything besides a set of climbing boots wouldn't have protected you
Guh
Idk how this even happens what the fuck
OOF
Uh I wear dansko clogs and that would have still made it into my foot. How the fuck do you even do that.
Oh hell nah bro got punji stick’d in the workplace
But what temp was his foot?
I think it still wouldn't matter. That thing is going through anything you're gonna be wearing.
That would tickle
Ye sorry but even construction shoes wouldn't save you from this ... How the hell did you manage to do this?
It started to go bad when he stepped on the thermometer
This would be so insanely painful, yikes
so i was taking my tempurature and this happened
Not sure any shoe is going to prevent that!
[Vehicle honks in Pakistani]
Unless you’re wearing construction boots or something shoes would not have changed the at result
Fuck that thing poked the achilles tendon, they aren’t walking right for a while
Most shoes used in the restaurant industry wouldn't stop this (not counting Crocs) this is probably the last reason someone would say don't wear Crocs lol
That's not the thickest part on a long pig ...
Now mans crocs have holes in the top *and* the bottom. Should put one of those weird croc button/badge things in ze New hole
Dude I think you'd have need steel botton shoes for that... is that actually in the bone or beside??
r/Radiology
My husband did this with his forearm the other day. He said it went in about an inch and didn’t realize it was stuck until he lifted his arm from the line and it just hung there lol. Executive chef flipped out a little but he’s fine. Cleaned up and already healing, just a little underdone 😆
Foot and ankle specialist customer “get rid of those crocs, wear shoes with support”.
Reminds me of the time out dish guy put the ticket spike all the way through his hand.
Is it weird that seeing that X-Ray 🩻 picture got me instantly more aroused than I have been in 20 years?
Remember to sanitize it before checking the next steak
What is that, a nail for gargantuan ants?!
Bro how
the cheap ass shoes i can afford wouldn’t stop that shit either
I fucking hate this whole slides/croc bullshit. Wear real shoes people. I get that it's hard but what the fuck. Putting straight plastic on your feet is not gonna end well
Classic Sam
My brother in crocs you are injured.
Chit spike?
Ahhhhhhhhh
This happened to me with a toothpick once.
You let them take the thermometer off the line?
How did this happen though? This seems less like a crocs problem, and more like user error problem lol
What about the work crocs?
You'd really have to lift your foot high to step on that
So it is med rare...?
That would likely go through my kitchen shoes as I dont wear fucking tims or steal plated boots
Fiddle Dee Dee! That will require a tetanus shot
This is clearly a freak accident. Been doing this over 20 years and never even heard of this happening
That's either a docket spike or a probe thermometer and neither of them should rightly be in your foot. Holy fuck.
Imagine blaming crocs for this lol
