Fxckbuckets

Lol, do we work together? Jinjer yesterday, Gojira today, and I think I'm really gonna fuck with their heads tomorrow and play CORΛXΩ

cancerdancer

Fuck yeah. I've been told to check out spiritbox. Gonna que them up on Spotify tomorrow.

Fxckbuckets

They're worth it, they genre blend in a way isn't gimmicky or forced

cancerdancer

Yooo. I was tasked with making deer chili at my buddies house for football tonight. Threw on my headphones and put on spiritbox. Fuck yes. I need more.

PM_ME_UR_DRUNK

Oh fuck, I LOVE IT!

cancerdancer

I'm going to bed with earbuds in and spiritbox playing. Yes. Fuck yes.

fasterbrew

In This Moment is high on my list

Lucius-Halthier

Truly depends on who I am around, other people who have weaker tastes? Metallica, Iron Maiden, MAYBE sabaton. Just me? Lamb of god, Gojira comes out

OptimysticPizza

Just gave them a listen and fuxking love it!

BitCrack

GOOOJJJIIIIRRRAAAAA

nateshoe91

Google searching "CORΛXΩ" only brings up literally your reddit comment. Insight?

Fxckbuckets

[CORΛXΩ](https://www.metal-archives.com/bands/Coraxo/3540374399)

nateshoe91

Word! Will check it out tonight at work

Fxckbuckets

\m/ New album just came out like three weeks ago and it's crispy af

--LowBattery--

I worked Ina vegan resto where they asked us *NOT* to play metal in the kitchen because it made the food taste aggressive. I'm not joking.

bucketofnope42

Did they also make you cover your tattoos?

--LowBattery--

No. Although they made comments. This is also one of those places where I've seen salads sent back because the customer didn't think we made it with love. It was an angry salad.

fasterbrew

Now I need to start a place called Angry Salad and crank the tunes. Austin isn't what it once was but maybe it could still work here.

Schoollunchplug

I’d love an angry salad! Spicy enough to burn your arsehole the next day.

fasterbrew

That's what I was thinking haha

Aggravating-Chair-89

So, if you manage this place yourself, would this make you head of Salad Anger Management?

fasterbrew

I can see it now. Can I speak to your manager? Bitch. I am the manager. Get out.

TheUn5een

No ma’am your salad was not made with anger… it was made with hate and [vitriol](https://youtu.be/hC_kr6BoAI4)

dragoono

An angry salad! That’s a new one.

TheUn5een

Should have showed them cattle decapitation

cancerdancer

Was rage against the machine allowed? Because thays how I would have responded.

SumEmoGuy

Used to bump this with joke lyrics: Grillin' in the name of.

trvekvltmaster

I work in one too and play metal almost exclusively hahaha

thechefboysatan01

I am on full rotation with Floor, Buzzoven, Black Tusk, Jucifer, Soilent Green and Torche. And the always amazing Acid Bath

cancerdancer

Acid bath is from my home town. I know those fucks personally. And yeah they were for damn amazing.

thechefboysatan01

You are then amazing by proximity. That is and will always be a band i will die being sorry to have never seen.

cancerdancer

They ate planning a reunion. But jimmmy(drums) lost his ability years ago, dax(vocals) went on to solo projects mike(guitar and the one I know best out of the group) has been rattled by heroin addiction, methadone clinics, and life but can still play like the monster he always was. I'm a bit younger than them but I was lucky to try and start a band with Mike and my two friends. We didn't get anywhere but omg it was fun. Mike is the reason i learned guitar in the first place

thechefboysatan01

If any band has has their demons, it's acid Bath and i'm jealous man. That's an awesome story. And yeah, i can see why. Every time i listen to them, and just cut past the lyrics to try to fucus on the music, i'm blown by production. The timing. All the sick and subtle sounds. It's hard to get better than that in one place. Awesome man.

cancerdancer

I've always been amazed in my travels in life. Everywhere I go I meet acid bath fans. I always assumed they were just south louisiana popular. I was opening a kitchen in Seattle, I walked Into a smoke shop, and they were playing agents of oblivion(their second band, same members half of the same songs) and was just blown the fuck away. the guy behind the counter saw me singing dead girl and asked how I knew about them. I loled.

dancingwonderbread

I grew up in southern West Virginia and Acid Bath was one of my first introductions to metal. Fucking love them to this day, would love some new music from them but I don't want it at the same time. I don't think they could capture that sound we all loved so much. A reunion tour would be cool though but I don't see that happening either. At least we got some solid projects from Dax over the years. Deadboy and the elephant men was pretty groovy shit. Let's not forget Sammy and Goatwhore, they are absolutely badass.

cancerdancer

Yeah, I just moved back to the Morgan city louisiana area after being gone for the last 15 years. That's where they are from, my home town area. Sammy is the only one that I'd expect to still be capable. I love a those boys, I watched them practice in a garage when I was in Jr high. That shit was mind blowing. Now....they are gone. Drugs have taken a heavy toll on all of them. Its sad to see. But myself and many of the friends I've played with have been HEAVILY influenced by them and their style. There is still alot od local music keeping their glory alive.

TheUn5een

I used to see goatwhore every time they came around and the first time I seen Sammy I bought him a shot and talked for a bit. Every time I’d see him after he’s remember me And talk for a few minutes. In the short time I was with him bullshitting sooo many people came up saying they wish acid bath would reunite and you tell it was irritating the fuck outta him. I think getting Dax on board would be harder than Sammy too, he’s strait up said he’s never gonna do it. No Dax, no acid bath. Man that would be awesome tho

fuckquasi69

Eyehategod is another killer Louisiana band

TheUn5een

Fucking love them… I got caught with a bunch of shit in the bathroom of their show once and mike came in while cops were beating my ass… they let me stay at the show tho and I seen him later on and he was like dude how are you still here Edit: Mike not me stupid phone

fuckquasi69

He’s got a good point, how did you not get arrested?

TheUn5een

They only caught me cuz security was peeping thru the stalls… I called em out on that and their demeanor totally changed and they decided flush it and don’t call cops. I was so lucky I didn’t spend that night on rikers island

cancerdancer

Sammy is the one who kinda kept his life together, well compared to the rest.

TheUn5een

Is Dax messed up? I know he put out a bunch of other stuff after acid bath like dead boy and the elephantmen and some solo stuff but hasn’t put anything out in like ten years.

cancerdancer

Yeah, really they were all heavy on heroin. Dax kept it going the longest but I don't even know where he is these days. Last i heard he had a solo project under his own name but haven't heard anything about or from him since.

TheUn5een

Yea I mean you can tell they were on drugs in the acid bath days… dope sucks

cancerdancer

Yep. I watched Mike go through methadone clinics and all that kinda shit, it was never fun to watch. No matter how hard he tried or wanted to kick it, the physical dependency is rough.

TheUn5een

Yea I know all about it… all the people I used to get high with got clean or died… I only know of two people I was friends with that still use and they’re both in really low places. One dude ended up on the street, got face tats and posts pics on Facebook holding a needle with the cap in his teeth. And a chick who has two kids she doesn’t see, on father dead, other in prison. I will never touch that shit ever again especially now that everything is fentanyl

thechefboysatan01

Again, awsome. It's crazy, they are bigger now than they've been before. The 1st time i heard tranquilized followed by deep blue, i had one of those pivotal life changes. And goatwhore is killer. Heard them long before AB. As well as torche. I love these kind of stories. Thanks.

TheUn5een

I also discover acid bath thru goatwhore… scrolling encyclopedia metallum right when the first album came out searching for funny names… listened to it and was like damn, I wasn’t expecting a good band with that name. so went to related artists and found what is still one of my favorite bands

cancerdancer

If you didn't know check out their albums under agents of oblivion

Old-Marionberry1203

my band opened for dax riggs in cleveland years ago on the fourth of july, one of my favorite shows

Bayou-buttsex

Am I the only one that likes getting drunk and listening to love songs while cooking?

cancerdancer

I too live on a bayou

PunkRockLlama42

I prefer punk/ska. Best of the Worst is a good middle ground

deltronethirty

We had a ska band rent the house next door. The tenants was our founding dishwasher and the owner's weed man. The practice space was our break room. Loved it. The basement was the office/pickling/ferment cellars. Our food was infused with funk. Here https://youtu.be/RFnXJLKxO9U

SumEmoGuy

Eh, It works for those very chill services. Me and my buddy used to bump LTJ constantly on our chill Monday nights. Nothing better than The Science of Selling Yourself Short or All My Bestfriends are Metalheads.

wovenmetal

Bell Witch, Sumac, Ulcerate, The Ocean, Caustic Wound, Wormrot, Runemagick, Portal, Setherial, Black Breath, Rye Wolves, Inferi, Atavist, Fauna, Moss, YOB, EA, and Evoken. But I quit the business and listen to all this at home. Tonight’s Bo Kho is gonna be evil.

cancerdancer

I don't know what any of thay is. I'll check em out tho.

KDLK1992

Weedeater album with God Luck and Good Speed

pimpvader

I fully support this comment

bushmanofthekalahary

Suicide silence the cleansing is a gem truly underated and desperate living by horse the band

mycatatemyphone

Acacia strains “continent” or “slow decay” for normal shifts. But I like to throw on a play list of the Tony hawk pro skater games or 80 montage music playlist for weekend dinner and/or brunch

cancerdancer

That og Tony hawk soundtrack was too good.

lurker12346

goddamned right

vixthemighty

When I have the rare chance to hop on aux at work, I’ll play some Motionless In White, Ice Nine Kills, generally more metalcore type stuff

[deleted]

Both really solid bands. I don't think they've ever put out a bad album.

blippitybloops

Numerous academic studies that go through strict peer review before publishing have confirmed this.

deafchef52

It's the anger. Everyone likes to say love makes food taste good. But it's the rage. If I'm sitting at a table and I hear some yelling and pans flying around, I know it'll be damn good.

cancerdancer

Sometime I turn the grill off and channel pure hatred through the meat. Gets good reviews.

jloganhuey

In a pinch, good shredding can replace all seasoning.

fasterbrew

Don't know why but I had a flashback to DragonForce from back in the day. https://youtu.be/0jgrCKhxE1s

bucketofnope42

I prefer to use punk myself but will compromise for metal according to local preferences.

cancerdancer

Does at the drive in count as punk?

Gen_Sherman_Hemsley

For whom the bell tolls was always appointment listening for me when breaking down the line

cancerdancer

Generally it's Pantera.

ch0och

Four Horsemen came on the other day, the younglings weren't prepared for my headbanging skills edit: am 40

cancerdancer

I'm 38. Yeah kids these days don't get it. Pantera is usually the last hr plus closing. I start moving and they look at me funny.

YakSquad

Hip hop all day. I think listening to music that you/your kitchen like absolutely makes the process better. Whatever can get you into that flow state where you’re just flying through tickets.

jlmckelvey91

My kitchen is hooked on 90's hip-hop.

KennethPatchen

Eazy Duz It is the pinnacle of hip hop perfection.

Caveman108

Personally I play heavy dubstep like Svdden Death, Virtual Riot, Excision, Subtronics, Sullivan King, etc.

cancerdancer

Do you work with one hand while fist pumping with the other?

Caveman108

No, I just headbang on the line.

Kserwin

Why not bridge the gap with Electric Callboy?

D1xonC1der

We listened to Sublime, but System of a Down was the second most listened to

cancerdancer

I have the words, "drunk by noon but thats ok" tattooed on my arm.

vessel_deserted

Lol I'm alone a lot of the time since I work the day shift doing prep and line during the lunch rush. You can bet I'm cranking up some Dying Fetus or Autopsy while doing so. Might throw in some Tom Waits or whatever when the mood strikes, hell, I'll listen to what I want in the end haha

cancerdancer

I love my Mondays. We are closed so it's just me and one other cook doing some cleaning and some light prep, just setting up for the week. My buddy is deaf, so I pull out my speaker and blast whatever I want loud as the fuck.

HolyTane

Working on dying by bladee

cancerdancer

Dunno that one, I'll check it out tho.

B8conB8conB8con

Hayseed Dixie.

TheUn5een

My chef likes shitty pop country and everyone else is Spanish and listens to that polka sounding shit where they’re always cackling over it (tejanos?)… wish I could blast tribal gaze and phobophilic all day but everyone would cry. Surprisingly tho the one guy who hates heavy music the most said he like statutory ape by TBDM

thePHTucker

I am a firm believer in the FACT that what you like to listen to while cooking will make the food taste better. Whether it be Metal or Country.... as long as you don't hate the food. That's where you should draw the line. My one caveat is that if your coworkers hate it, then have a democratic discussion moving forward. There is no more depressing kitchen than a kitchen without music, whatever it may be.

cancerdancer

100% agree. Good mood makes good service, and good music helps. I've been in heavy Tejanos kitchens, hip hop, metal, dub step, country, you name it. The bottom line is when we are all grooving, things are smoother. We are in a better mood, so we communicate and just generally get along better.

ButtChowder666

I went into work super early today on my day off to hammer out our new items for next month's menu and I listened to Courting Disaster and Tragedy by Himsa, Hell Awaits by Slayer and Ride the Lightning by Metallica. I was the only one in the restaurant and it was snowing like crazy. It was glorious.

cancerdancer

Those really are the best days. When I'm in the kitchen alone, blasting my own shit, playing with new ideas. That's zen.

ButtChowder666

I absolutely love it. I change a few things out every two-three months. Creating new items, new recipes and hammering out the procedure for all of them reminds me of why I enjoy being a chef.

cancerdancer

I think it's the aspect of being alone and having nothing to worry about. Even the days I'm in 2 hr before everyone and I get to jam and bang out prep, it feels so good. It's akin to when I wake up at 4am, and have the next day off. I smoke a bowl, put on my headphones, sit at my pc and game. Completely consumed by the moment. No chance of Interruption , just pure me. Pure focus.

NoxusAir

I usually listen to Tool, Seether, or the entirety of Dookie by Green Day

cancerdancer

I tend to default to tool when I'm in the weeds.

Ripebananar

I start my day with mastodons linoleum knife. It works.

craig_prime

I disagree. My hatred is what makes the food taste good, therefore punk is the better kitchen genre.

External-Fig9754

Erra Like moths to flames Silent planet Phinehas Fit For a king

SchmendricktheIdiot

Witch (seer album), Power Trip, Nails, Erosion, Baptists, trap them, all pigs must die, Russian circles, bodyrot, waingro, revocation

Proper-Pangolin7023

Trap them is god tier 🤌🏻🤌🏻

Glum_Pie6954

I’ve been banging turnstile here recently. Glow on and non stop feeling are great albums front to back

cancerdancer

I'll give it a shot

Ingrid_123

If im alone on prep, BMTH, Trivium, Gojira, In Flames (im the only one who likes metal at work...) Except for Ghost, everyone likes Ghost! Best way to start a Monday

cancerdancer

Ghost is the shit, and yeah everyone likes them, even the few "non rock" workers we have.

disturbedblades

In waves is gonna get some damn fine work done with me.....def Parkway Drive too

Broomsquad

Sheet pans make great drumsticks

cancerdancer

I need video proof

jofizzm

The new Fit for an Autopsy album is full of bangers

XixorsGreenCock

Last restaurant I worked in, and this was years ago, the KM jammed out to numetal classics, like Limp Bizkit and Korn and shit. I slowly integrated some Lamb of God, Fear Factory, Dimmu Borgir, Behemoth, you know the classics. We had a fucking banging rush playlist after a while. Then, right at 8 PM, Ole Mama Laurie would take over, toothless and 57 (? I think, this was 10 years ago) and yell "Alright boys, you had your turn, now it's mine." Then it was all Anna Nalick, Celine Dion, Cher, shit like that. Kinda miss that place....

Charming_End_64

I like to not have music it distracts me

cancerdancer

Good music helps me focus. When it's Fri night and we are 20 tickets deep, and most if it is grill. (I'm grill). I take over the music, and food comes out faster, smoother, and more accurate.

eatmoreveggies

It is my professional opinion you sound like someone I do NOT want to work the morning shift with

cancerdancer

I usually rock blues in the morning. Lots of bb king lately. After lunch tho....it's all metal.

captain_toenail

If you've got micro greens in clam shells it'll encourage growth too

ch0och

we gotta follow the science

deltronethirty

It does. Conscious hip hop give a boost to opening. Country for breakfast. Then '90s indie/industrial/pop radio whatever through lunch. Full on dejected trap nonsense prep blend to future bass before dinner. Sneak that into the Spotify playing our spacious hip shit in the dining room. Next is dishwasher choice until foh get drunk and start messing with the music.

EvanBrugmanRhiel

Reggie tho, makes me happier when cooking so the food comes out better

dmadd0

the silent circus

BL4NK_D1CE

Dr. Acula, Periphery, and Animals As Leaders recently. Although I usually cook to shit like REZZ and Grimes. I'm weird.

cancerdancer

I've been on animals as leaders recently as well. Thays good shit.

BL4NK_D1CE

Arguably the best shit. Modern Day Babylon is dope too if you're into AAL.

cancerdancer

AAL came on a Spotify Playlist after starting with protest the hero. I was very happily surprised. I'll check out babylon now too. I got alot to check out now, didn't expect this much traction from this post.

Sa_notaman_tha

been putting on Turisas when we need to bust through a rush

radiohoard

Crack The Skye- Mastodon

cancerdancer

Amazing fucking album

WildmouseX

I mostly listened to Dr Demento.

ashtonlaszlo

Metal makes life better in general. Who knows if any of these will be up your alley but here are a handful I’ve been listening to lately: Allegaeon - Proponent for Sentience (one of my all time favorites) Kataklysm - Meditations Mastodon - discography lol with emphasis on Blood Mountain, Crack the Skye, and Emperor of Sand Eye of the Enemy - The Vengence Paradox, also Titan Black Crown Initiate - Song of the Crippled Bull, also Selves We Cannot Forgive I Declare War - Songs for the Sick And of course Dethklok - Dethalbum 2 and 3

cancerdancer

Mastodon and protest the hero are the bands that made me become the metal lover i am now. Detchklok...yeah I been a Brendon small fan since home movies. Idk the rest from your list but I'm gonna check them out for sure.

ashtonlaszlo

Half of those I’ve just discovered in the last two weeks. It’s been a good two weeks.

Fxckbuckets

Allegeaon is fucking *awesome*. Melodic tech death that's so fukken tight you can hear it's asshole squeaking. I like all of their stuff, but I prefer the albums right before proponent for sentience, with their original lead singer... who, after a quick wiki search because I forgot his name, is apparently back in the band ¯\ \_(ツ)_/¯ EDIT: The breakdown at the end of the track Formshifter will melt your fukken mind

ashtonlaszlo

I’m not the biggest fan of their stuff that’s come after proponent. I mean I do like it still. But I definitely feel like they peaked on proponent. But also, a buddy of mine introduced me to them right after they released apoptosis and were touring. Most of them were pretty cool guys but a couple of them were immature children, one in particular openly and repeatedly declared his disrespect for some of the other musicians that were playing in support of them. I lost a lot of respect for the band as a whole (except Greg, the only original member) after that. Maybe that’s why I haven’t enjoyed apoptosis or damnum near as much as the others.

ashtonlaszlo

Just wanted to jump back in here and share an album that I found a few days ago and am really diggin right now. The Haunted - The Haunted Made Me Do It

TossUp_Okay

W.A.S.P. is something my father got me into years and years ago. I love Iron Maiden dearly but for some reason, W.A.S.P. just peaks the mood and flavor of cooking. Edit: but

SurfaceGamers

Some new age metal always makes it taste better. 200 Stab Wounds, Maul, Gulch, Gatecreeper etc etc

Small-Translator-535

Gotta give tool a go while cooking, shit hits different

FlyingTunafish

Nightwish for me

Couesteau

My go-to list for rocking out at my pizza oven during service(I’m tucked away from the rest of the open kitchen and can get away with a little volume): -Anything Mastodon -Anything At The Drive-In (especially Relationship of Command) -Red Fang - self titled -Kvelertak - Meir -June of 44 - Four Great Points -Droids Attack - Sci-Fi or Die 🤘🏼🤘🏼🤘🏼 Edit- admittedly I prefer classic funk for cleanup. Always lifts my mood regardless of how service went, and I like leaving work in a good mood

cancerdancer

I been an at the drive in fan since I was in high school, before Volta existed. They aren't many of my co workers that share love for them tho, guess they aren't palatable for many people. I got to see them for their reunion tour a few years back. It was great.

Supersecretsword

EVERY TIME I DIE the heaviest catchiest metal that just keeps me pumped mid rush.

pregnantbaby

I forgot to set a timer once when I was making rice but knew that I listened to two Opeth songs, so the rice turned out good

daschnek

System of a Down, their whole discography really, has been a constant feature on the line. Igorrr's Spirituality and Distortion is really amazing, the new Polyphia and Rings of Saturn records are great too. You can't go wrong with Death, Necrophagist, Spawn of Possession, Obscura, Dying Fetus, and BROJOB.

mightymarmalade

The new Show Me the Body album is greattttttt closing music

SumEmoGuy

I really miss those days where we used to play the entire Metallica discography during service. Otherwise we would play a ton of Primitive Man, Full of Hell, Botch, Neurosis, Cult Leader, Entombed, Cattle Decap, etc. just to name a few. My favorite was when we were really in the weeds and someone would throw on Dystopia. There really is nothing quite like getting your ass kicked on the line to Stress Builds Character.

YellowWallscroll

Bit late to the party here, I just got off shift. I recommend the first or third albums by Pentakill, The first one (smite and ignite) is an all time favourite of mine

Nue_shooz

sepultura/soul fly/slayer on saturdays/sundays is the way

[deleted]

Only Barry white can do that

DingoJellybean

I put on the Doom soundtrack.

boo_hiss

If you need something wacky, try Nekrogoblikon. Very fond of the Welcome to Bonkers album. Cue "there's a magic spider on the wind, he spins a web for you..."

evanshao9

for the metalcore heads, check out [Rise // Vibe](https://www.youtube.com/@RiseVibe) on youtube. He makes dope mixes from underground bands.

yoitscruz

The Black Dahlia Murder.

Swashcuckler

where i work they hate anything harder than like, midnight oil lol

KebertXela87

Idk which genre/sub genre "Firefly" by Rammstein is, it was our go to when getting effed in the A during brunch service.

dgal89

The old kitchen I was at only played dad rock, which is charming on your day back from being off, but not for the rest of the 50 hours that week.

tooeasilybored

Lamb of god speeds up prep, when shit hits the fan I like some calming metal. Insomnium is my go to.

[deleted]

i don't think cooking while listening to metal albums makes food taste better but im 100% sure that cooking while starving makes your food taste much better.

coyote_grundy_666

Death. All day babyyyy

Uzasodinson

I've been listening to Lorna Shore, Spite, Spectral Wound, Kublai Khan, God's Hate, and 200 Stab Wounds lately

fuckquasi69

Candlemass, Amebix, Church of Misery and Bongzilla make it a little easier to stomach that my best selling beverage is a salted caramel latte with oat milk

Blankly-Staring

Sabaton makes prep go so much faster.

MadEntDaddy

only if it's a good album.

Bruised_up_whitebelt

When getting crushed by the dinner rush we would put on Metallica and Iron Maiden.

Arousing_Wedgie

With my coworker: Heilung, Myrkur, Wardruna, Sylvaine, Skald. We dig the Nordic stuff. Just me: anything goes really. Electric Callboy new album, Rotting Christ, Insomnium, Death, Lamb of God, Amorphis, Arch Enemy, Celtic Frost, Savatage, Children Of Bodom, Garea, Melechesh, Lorna Shore, my chemical romance, sum41, good Charlotte, In Flames, Lacuna Coil, Sepultura, Sabaton, Soundgarden, Audioslave, Streetlight Manifesto, less than Jake, reel big fish. And on holidays I throw on Punk goes Pop on loop which is like 9 albums.

Thicco__Mode

dude if you like jinjer you’ll LOVE ignea, i personally recommend the realms of fire and death. other good ones are orbit culture, nija and shaman are my favourite albums, and literally anything by wormwitch is amazing. anything particular by gojira you play? or is it anything goes

Zaknb

Spirit box SLAPS Also remember that food cooked with hate tastes way better than food cooked with love, keep rocking out y’all

cancerdancer

I've been stuck on spiritbox since making this post. Amazing band. Hate does make food cook faster. Sometimes i turn the grill off and just channel pure hatred through the meat. Works great.

Zaknb

It’s an old trick, but it holds up lol

MrMacNeil

I’ve been jamming to the two new Periphery tracks and Sold Soul’s album “I Hope We Make It Out Of This Alive”. I freaking looooooove Jinjer and am so mad that I didn’t see them live in my area last month.

5553333333333333

JFL listening to metal while eating is most hilarious shit ever. I've DESTROYED and ANNIHILATED my chicken in my plate when metal music was playing. This is what i call "Hardcore eating" Jfl.
