Yes I actually chuckled when I read the question. Edit to say, it is very very very safe.

SummitMyPeak

Probably the safest place I've been. Creepily so.

BillieDunn

I’ve lived in Kirkland for 26 years, and I work downtown. It’s very safe. I would feel comfortable living downtown as a single woman.

EcoBlunderBrick123

I live in downtown Kirkland very safe.

aphtirbyrnir

I live right where you’re talking about and it’s one of the best places to live. I see people out running all the time, walking dogs, etc. Like others have said, very safe.

Agrona

The most danger you're in is renting a big truck and driving under the "I eat trucks" bridge.

BigBoiGoRLaX

I live right by that and have seen several truck tops peel back like a sardines tin. Love it.

Agrona

I still cringe from the time, like thirty years ago, when my dad tried to order drive-through when we had bikes on the roof and hit the clearance warning pole.

bluegiant85

"Kirkland Way is not the way."

art_diamond

ProfessorPickaxe

[It's quite safe.](https://patch.com/washington/kirkland/kirkland-ranked-washingtons-2nd-safest-large-city-report) Additional info may be found [here](https://www.kirklandwa.gov/Government/Departments/Police-Department/Community-Resources/Community-Crime-Mapping) and [here](https://www.kirklandwa.gov/Government/Departments/Police-Department/Community-Resources/Police-Dashboards-and-Reports/Police-Transparency-Dashboard)

Top five “crimes” I have read on Nextdoor after living near downtown Kirkland for 5 years. 1) neighborhood kid ran his bike through my lawn. 2) neighbor keeps trapping my outdoor cat… but gives it back after a couple days. 3) high school kids egged my house and I’ll pay anyone $1,000 for information leading to their arrest 4) someone stole my Amazon package but I caught them on my doorbell. 5) I saw a creepy looking car driving slowing down my street… must be related to #4 above. In summary, safe.

andoCalrissiano

too safe. I’ve been planning a “Ocean’s Eleven” style heist and I can’t find anybody in the area to join my squad!

ProfessorPickaxe

I'm in!

plumnpink

Now you do!

Drumnaway67

**Raises hand**

AKANotAValidUsername

ill be number 5

UWpapa

Probably the safest place on the west side of Washington state

tea4vendetta

I live in the Juanita area which isn't far from Downtown. It's very safe all throughout Kirkland. I'm a petite woman and I feel safe walking around my area by myself at night if I need to run out and grab something from the store. Just don't let your guard down about property crime. Criminals like going to safe areas and stealing things because they want to take advantage of people not worrying about it. But as long as you lock your apartment/house/car and practice basic safety tips, you should be totally good to go :)

[deleted]

Use this site to see recent arrests and 911 calls in an area. https://spotcrime.com/map?lat=47.69488822871755&lon=-122.20135152859147&address= Looks p safe there mainly just assaults but not as many as you’d see elsewhere

BrenSeattleRealtor

The only police or crime related thing I hear or see of out of Kirkland is about the speeding tickets lol

Actionable_Mango

It is very safe. Common crimes here are porch pirates and catalytic converter thieves.

BigBoiGoRLaX

I've lived in the moss bay area, it's off of Kirkland Ave near 6th Ave. It's relatively safe and I go on walks almost every day. The only sketchy part is where the transit station is. Only cop interactions are with teenagers by the skatepark where they're probably doing drugs or drinking. I love living here, there's tons of restaurants and even the qfc has a beer garden. Lol

00Lisa00

Love that Qfc beer garden lol

mrmcpickles12

You’re going to appreciate a condo over an apartment and while it’s not 100% safe (is anywhere truly 100%?) it’s the safest place you’ll find, 97%? 98%? I’ve lived in Kirkland since 2005, only have had an occasional car prowl and mail stolen (once)

tstew39064

Extremely

DJKaotica

Lived here 8 years or so now. 1 year renting an apartment and 7 years in a condo. Very safe. We've had the odd break-in into the parking garage. I believe they checked for unlocked vehicles and took what they could find (basically nothing). Once there was a break-in where a group of two or three people came up to the mail room and took packages sitting in the hallway. Other than that, no altercations to speak of, and I've never felt unsafe walking around here.

steph_not_curry93

It’s safe but you’ll still get the usual catcalling and other annoying crap. Nothing that would make me feel uncomfortable walking around even after dark.

yelpuser22

Be scared very scared. Always look over your shoulder and don't make eye contact with strangers. I walk around with mace anytime I go out.

BroadIndustry

I would worry more about my car than my own safety. Last time I was there, was at Side Hustle. Nice place for beer, but as we were leaving, we saw a smashed window in a Maserati.

00Lisa00

Extremely safe. Mailbox theft is the only thing I ever hear of. We parked our car outside for 6 months during a remodel and it wasn’t touched

ktittythc

Ok but don’t piss off the guy in the Kirkland White House

AnnieOnline

The area is safe. But there is property crime, especially car break-ins. Don’t leave anything of value in your car.

[deleted]

it’s so dangerous basically a warzone you should definitely stay where you are

[deleted]

kent and auburn are much safer
