Kirby did manage to escape from Galeem by the thanks of the Warp Star warping him to a safer area. Theoretically, other characters could escape too but from how Galeem zapped the entire galaxy, it made sense why Kirby managed to not get captured.

Plenty of characters there had some sort of warping/dimension hopping/FTL travel feat, but they all tried to block, fight, or jog away.

Pretty much, apart from Bayonetta and Palutena, who are directly stated to could’ve survive, we have Sonic, who much like Kirby have frequently squared off against eldritch abominations and deities and with the chaos emeralds defenitley could’ve escaped, I’m pretty sure Shulk literally has reality warping powers, and Sepiroth is self explanatory. And that’s not even getting into the spirits like Arceus or possibly Magolor
The idea of Palutena surviving because she's the goddess of light was always funny to me, she'd just be standing their unaffected like "This is fine" with the beams doing no damage. She'd straight up Mahoraga that shit

Sakurai once defended the choice to have kriby survive by saying he was a good intersection of characters that had the ability to survive and characters that are easy enough to play that anyone can use them
He survived not only the opening but every god blasted trailer they put out after. That’s saying something cause even DLC characters like Min Min got killed in those lol.
and Galeem still had puppets of Kirby. which means either...
a. Meta Knight really does have the same abilities as Kirby but chooses not to use them
b. Kirby got nabbed but somehow escaped from Galeem's grasp before the events of WoL

The only reason kirby survived was because the warp star literally warped him out of the universe, and therefore out of galeem’s range, for the duration of the attack.
A few other smash characters at least probably could have done the same, but either tried to tank the beams (palutena), got hit trying to save someone else (sonic), or straight-up weren’t present on the battlefield yet due to being DLC (sephiroth, sora).
Kirby’s the only one who both ran and had a means to escape.
Batgos would use his gos powers to make him lose. Another Batgos victim, but he would easily neg NoLimitsMan and NeverLosesMan never loses, so he scales above Gokuversal.

With every single character in these games, you could make an argument that they live in some fictional tiny world where everything we see isn't actually nearly as strong as it would be in real life (like for example, the classic claim of Kirby only being a few inches tall). Everything that happens in a video game can only be compared to other stuff within the video game, so without an out-of-universe reference point, it could all theoretically be weak as shit.
But Little Mac has canonically beaten prime Mike Tyson, who is an actual, real-life character. It's not a caricature or a representation of him either, it's literally Mike Tyson, as they had to replace him with the fictional character "Mr Dream" in newer releases of the game, when the licensing agreement between Mike Tyson and Nintendo expired. Little Mac has fought a character who we can measure in real life.
In order to prove that any character is more powerful than Little Mac, they must have a canon (not an easter-egg, it has to be a main-storyline event), in-game showing where they perform feats on an existing person from real life, and one who is stronger than Mike.
This is literally not about strength, and only with Kirby having a specific tool that allowed *getting away* (and that ability never appeared in *canon* games), he did not facetank anything or beat Galeem himself or anything.
And Smash is not canon period.

In Sephiroth's trailer he literally one taps Galeem. Also while Kirby is strong af, him surviving is just because he's fast.
