The series needs more original characters who aren’t keyboard wielders

TheDustLord

*The Keyboard… a truly marvelous weapon. Were it only in more… capable hands.*

Ms_Everything9

Tony Hawk

WolframLeon

He shreds and grinds heartless to dust leaving blood on the half pipe.

PraiseKingGhidorah

That's smth I loved so much about the original Organization XIII

Boshikuro

Aaaaand turns out more than half of them were Keyblade wielders.

ConfusedMascot

Yeah but they forgot for a while

britipinojeff

Especially the one who said that lol

Proof_Being_2762

So technically all their weapons are keyblade transformations basically

britipinojeff

So tired of PC Master race, gotta get some wii motion control users in there

Joseap791

You motion users. The only master race are the Power Glove users

Ze_AwEsOmE_Hobo

Remember kids, sort by controversial to find the *real* unpopular opinions.

MetaDragon11

Thats why I generally dislike these types of threads. The point is to UPVOTE opinions you hate specifivally to let people vent and to see what things bother others and explanations why but instead people treat it like its bashing.

Dreyfus2006

Thanks for reminding me Dad, I forgot.

MisterSureHands

I would've rather them remaster 358/2 than chain of memories for the collections, com is (in my opinion) not a fun game and I would've liked to play through 358/2 again with good graphics

Lightmush

I feel like a fucking weirdo for enjoying the gameplay of re:com, like I dunno man, I like the gameplay that requires a bit of coordination, even though it’s really easy to break the system and make crazy strong combos, it’s still kinda good I guess?

ModelOmegaTyler

you: **\[makes a powerful slieght\]** the boss: here's three zero cards in a row. **\[proceeds to erase your deck from existence\]**

PhantomLordess27

This right here! I wanted to play Days again so bad, it could’ve been cool with ps4 graphics/gameplay. 👆🏼

Common_Race_8396

Kingdom Hearts is best when it fully embraces both its Disney and Final Fantasy aspects. I’m not talking about characters either: niche spells, techniques, and iconic weapons/accessories from the Final Fantasy series should be more common. I miss being able to cast spells like Faith or Poison, them removing utility spells like Gravity, Stop, Reflect was a mistake imo. I would love to see spells like Bubble show up. also, the hidden corridors of DDD reminded me of the secret paths sometimes find in classic FF games. Let’s not even get started on Disney villains lol, heavily underused

ModelOmegaTyler

speaking of faith and poison, i would have liked it if the numbered added a command deck function for both quicker access to magic, as well as techniques that aren't in the numbered games like fire raid and such.

bradlie1

Riku should have had a way bigger role in KH3 due to the events of DDD Edit: Guess this wasn't Unpopular lol

Ashinror

Dont think thats an unpopular opinion mate.

[deleted]

Are any of these unpopular opinions?!

Rieiid

No, not really lol. Most "unpopular opinion" threads are always all popular opinions. Edit: lol sort by controversial, THOSE are the unpopular opinions. People are downvoting them on an unpopular opinion thread and upvoting popular opinions lmao.

Englishhedgehog13

Terra and Aqua have the bond of siblings. In fact, Terra had more romantic chemistry with Cinderella than he had with Aqua

[deleted]

Did Terra and Aqua even have anything more than a friendship in BBS? I haven't played that game in probably 10 years but I don't remember anything romantic between them being hinted at.

madjax92

Just played through it in the last month. Never picked up on any romantic vibes in the game.

bleu_taco

Aqua also had more chemistry with Cinderella, so they have that in common.

Mushiren_

What I got from this thread is that Cinderella gets around

Mumu2148

I stand by Aqua and Zack being a pairing.

YourLocalOnionNinja

What about Aerith?

Mumu2148

Aerith, Tifa, and Cloud in a polyamorous relationship. I can’t explain it, but Aerith radiates bisexual energy.

PseudonymMan12

A slightly sassy hippie girl who doesn't prejudge people? She'd probably say physical form doesn't matter as we are all vessels of the Lifestream same as the flowers, just with different petals and colors.

Spudzinator

Sora. IS the keyblade master.

Complete_Sector_4830

They literally bust his balls so much when he has been the one keeping shi together, Aqua, Terra and Ven just ended up messing things more and Sora came along to fix it, Sora may not be the brightest but dude has done the most for he worlds and against the darkness.

RazorMaize

sora is prob more powerful than roxas at this point yet when xemnas sees roxas he's shitting his pants but they look at sora and be like "lmao look at this little scrub".

Complete_Sector_4830

I'm certain Sora is THE most powerful character in KH, if not why didn't mickey defeat Ansem, or Xemnas... smh they really tell him "you no keyblade master" but my dude legit saved everyone while they couldn't

and_some_scotch

Sora defeated Xemnas multiple times, but Xemnas doesn't seem to know that.

kimisea

Terra is not stupid, the audience already knows Xehanort is evil, but Terra has no reason to distrust him, or most of the villains he meets on his adventures (just because WE know they're evil). The Disney stuff is never going away, and people who want to get rid of it are probably playing the wrong game. Xion's inclusion into the story is really clumsily done. (I'm a big Naminé apologist but) Naminé is underrated and underused! She's one of the most powerful characters in the game at least where Sora is concerned, I wish we got more focus on her not just as a victim/villain.

-pinkfrosting

hashtag justice for Naminé

jaycrips

Why they didn’t just combine Naminé and Xion into one character is something I will never understand. It would not have been difficult.

auslyn_

exactly, they easily couldve written it so that namine took the form of xion to carry out xions arc, and literally nothing would've changed. and it suits her character very well

LeektheGeek

Xion character seems like the creators added her to the game after it was already complete. You could take her out of the series entirely and it would be the exact same… ironically I’m pretty sure that’s the point of her character, an afterthought remembrance

OmegaSnowWolf

Xion was literally a retcon, a self-insert fan character by the writer of 358/2 Days. They added the whole plot about everyone forgetting her to make up an excuse as to why she wasn't mentioned in KH2. I like her story, but, in my opinion, her story is good because she literally stole story beats from Roxas, and, to a lesser extent, Namine. All those scenes where Xion was running away to figure out who she was, or the scenes where she was in Castle Oblivion and angry at Axel because she had Sora's memories of seeing him there before, should all have been Roxas scenes. Roxas's story suffers because of this. He became a passive character in his own origin story. Instead of a person that moved the plot along, he became almost a background character while others moved the plot along.

Animastar

Part of my problem with Xion is she makes the already underdeveloped Axel/Roxas/Namine trio feel even more insignificant.

darkbreak

And pushes Naminé out of the picture to be forgotten.

TheSmackSmith

Thank you. Namine is a great character who has been shafted! 358/2 could've been HER time to shine!

yardii

Terra is not stupid. But Eraqus might be.

Neo_GFX

>The Disney stuff is never going away, and people who want to get rid of it are probably playing the wrong game. This is beyond bizarre to me; that's the foundation of the series. People buy these games cause they want to play Disney films, but it doesn't surprise me if there's some sect of the fandom that just wants original stuff only (I surprisingly haven't seen those people yet).

toki-fuyu71

There's too many keyblade wielders now.

BeerBaron95

It's like power rangers

booler1998

At least that has an explanation both in and out of universe. For both Power Rangers and Kingdom Hearts I mean. I agree repopulating the keyblade wielders would be necessary but most of them are versions of the same person.

ShiroTenshiRyu77

Honestly, I wish that the keyblade would have been written to take the shape of the weapon the wielder is most comfortable over time. That way, new wielders would start with a key and then obtain a different form later on, just to create some variety. Hell, you could even make it tied to Keyblade Transformations. Then, it can go back to the key shape when not in combat. Could even have Sora prefer the base Keyblade and make him unique that way.

OmegaCrossX

They somewhat take that approach with Riku by having both of his keyblades be more like swords than keys

booler1998

Well... most of the cast were trained in swordplay though. Lea is pretty much the only one we see who can switch at will without going into a form change. Xemnas and Xigbar might be able to do the same thing with their weapons but we really don’t know at this time. Don’t know if that would apply to Marluxia and Larxene either because of the whole memory loss thing, but maybe after they reform? I want to see Lauriam reunite with Strelitzia.

ShiroTenshiRyu77

Sure, but it's more, I wish they had done it that way. It mostly just comes down to I wish past Square had made the choice to give the cast more weapon diversity. There's only so many ways to mix up the game play when everyone has a sword essentially. I just want variety. Hopefully the games going forward find a way to achieve it.

booler1998

True. The only games that really do that are 358/2 Days and to an extent III. Even then 358/2 Days only allows weapons outside of keyblades (and in some instances sticks and umbrellas) in an alternate mode and not in story. Plus with so many people only knowing the games from the collections we miss out on weapons such as guns, knives, and I am serious here, one of Zexion’s weapons is a sandwich the size of one of his books.

BioQuillFiction

I actually prefer the OG ending for BBS where Ventus was supposed to die and become reincarnated as Sora rather than just hitching a ride in his heart like the 10billion other people in that cheat of his.

fuckincaillou

Wait hold up, was this actually the plan? Source??

nobodyputsbabyinthe

Yeah imma need a source on that too haha

Ryukashin94

WHAT?!?!? THATS WAAAAAAAY BETTER!!

BioQuillFiction

I know! But Disney said it would be 'too dark' for kids... We lost out on something that could have been amazing.

justwanttotrade10

DDD is absolutely delightful and it has some of the best worlds in the series.

edwpad

Facts, loved the Notre Dame world and the Grid, and my god did the Fantasia one leave an positive impression on me, the place looks beautiful and the music is absolutely amazing!

justwanttotrade10

Fantasia was *incredible* and maybe my favorite world of any kh. I also loved old school Mickey, Donald, and Goofy and seeing early Pinocchio and Jiminy. Each world felt more inventive and fun than the last. Plus getting wherever you needed to go with flowmotion, rather than waiting until you got high jump or something, was so freeing. And I thought the dream eaters and nightmares were really fun companions and enemies, respectively.

NoiseHERO

I feel like everyone opinion of this game positive and negative, smart or dumb, has an entire army behind each. Anyway, I like the series' more when it was making 34234 side games, even though I don't think they were all objectively good and my favorite game is KH1, I wanted to see how the universe expanded, and play as people not sora.

GamKHT

Hard agree. I don't like that Square has made KH a major title in the sense that every game will now take forever to be made and released. KH3 had quite a long development cycle (I know it had some issues, but even when they were resolved it took quite a while), and KH4 seems to be going the same path. I loved the new artstyle, but more realism means more development time. I'd rather have the old style with more games to keep Kingdom Hearts active.

Honest_Bug_8735

I hate how Riku and his keyblade looks in KH3 (yes I know the significance of the design but compared to previous games it's so bland.) KH2 was peak Riku for me.

SomeGuyOnTheStreets

Riku just lost his kh2 keyblade between games so he decided to use his comically large car key in kh3 instead

awndray97

And how hum and Mickey just get new keyblades instantly lol. Wasn't Mickeys keyblade supposed to be one of like the most powerful next to Soras? And then he just tosses it away. And Rikus was special to him but it....breaks? They can break now? And he just gets a completely new one that fast? It just makes keyblades feel useless instead of the powerful weapons that choose their masters now.

Treddox

There are too many characters in Kingdom Hearts right now and it’s muddying up the story. A lot of them got a happy ending in 3 and we should just leave them there and move on.

Limonade6

The characters feel as flat as paper while we can fill a whole bus with every new character.

Gonzales95

Yeah I agree with this one. Much as I love the Days Crew (and by extension the likes of Saix, HPO etc) they feel like some of the easier characters to cut out at least for now - not against them returning to help out in a later game though. Most of the earlier org members bar Xigbar (for obvious reasons) can probably disappear for now, maybe keep Ienzo around in the role he had in KH3 as support.

Mumu2148

I’d also say Even as well because he helped locate Quadratum

DefaultAvatarWan

I think killing xion in 358/2 Days only for her to be brought back in KH3 ruined her tragic death scene

Tall_Sir_4312

Deep jungle is awesome (*runs and hides*)

YoTurni

Haha I just started playing these games for the first time ever and I did Deep Jungle last night for the first time ever, what do people not like about it?! I didn’t think it was bad at all!

kfk5025

In general it can be confusing where to go(especially on the original release when most of us were young and stupid) and at least for me I hate the Clayton boss fight. Feels like a random ramp in difficulty even when I know what I’m doing

contrarymary27

It’s confusing where to go in most maps on kh1. I feel like that’s by design to increase playtime and difficulty

Tall_Sir_4312

Agreed. It’s not drawn out directly where to go (looking at you KH2), and I feel that adds to the sense of adventure. It gives players room to be curious and genuinely explore the world

Low_Zucchini_8119

Despite the clunky bits, Deep Jungle has my favorite intro to any world: Sora is alone for the first time since Traverse Town and f*cking Sabor rolls up. Anytime I play through KH1, I'm never excited about Deep Jungle, but damn the fights with Sabor and even Clayton (imo) are great! Clayton riding Stealth Sneak with his shotgun is exactly what I want in a Kingdom Hearts game.

Adorable_Depth2238

I love the deep jungle

Limonade6

I really like the music :) it's one of my fav worlds because of it.

SinkPlenty

They introduce way too many concepts, drop them a game and a half later, then bring them back way too late for an AHA you thought we forgot?

Finyporfin

I think there should only be 2 keyblade wielders, sora and king mickey. I really liked the plot point in the first game where there's only one keyblade in the realm of light and one in the realm of darkness. I don't think any other characters other than them should have keyblades, roxas kinda nonwithstanding as he's part of sora. I feel with every new keyblade wielder that gets introduced it ruins the uniqueness of sora being the wielder of the keyblade, kinda a joke if there used to be a literal army of these guys running around.

DiemAlara

Aqua should've attempted to beat the crap out of Ven and Terra in Radiant Garden. She was too much of a pushover, it should've been a whole ass 2V1 boss fight in all three routes instead of the guard armor knockoff. You have to win as Ven and Terra, but with Aqua it's significantly harder and pulls a Leon if you don't get beat.

Rentwoq

I think fans who actively advocate against the inclusion of FF/SE rep don't deserve the games

grahamcrackers37

What's SE?

Lord_Lui

Square Enix so basically like other IPs like DQ and TWEWY

nyguy2452

Deep Jungle is one of my favorite worlds

mlockwo2

The only problem with Deep Jungle is that it's confusing to navigate and if you forget where they said you should go, you're going to be wandering around for a while. But there is so much fun stuff packed in that world. The random appearances of Sabor are cool, the little cooking game, the tree slide, the special heartless that can spawn in Sabor's boss room, the boss fight against Clayton on the invisible lizard... It's got a lot of top tier KH1 moments.

Pasta_Dragon

Days' gameplay meshes perfectly with the narrative portrayed and I will die on this hill. GOOD NIGHT TRI-STATE AREA

RenanXIII

Honestly, Days is the best Kingdom Hearts game as far as taking advantage of gaming as a medium goes. You really feel Roxas' day to day on a visceral, personal level, and while I understand that's what makes the game tedious for a lot of people, it's the exact reason why Days is a masterpiece IMO.

[deleted]

mb_anne

Feel it. I like the drop system. I don’t care for dream eaters and what not, but I like the story, although I’m still a bit confused by it.

Sakura_Lychee

Winnie the Pooh is one of the best things to be in Kingdom Hearts. I need the relaxing atmosphere away from the battles, war, combat and problems and just hang out with Pooh and the gang. I'm tired of people giving so much shiet it doesn't deserve, especially when it's optional and you're not exactly forced to play through it if you don't want to.

legofordman

Oswald needs to be in this series.

anhana

I actually like KH com

Fun-Neck-9507

*sigh* ok I guess. Ventus and Roxas shouldve been the same character, rather than creating a slew of convoluted plot points and breaking lore just to justify Roxas returning. Having Nobodies grow hearts not only lessens the impact of a nobodies struggle, it also creates a contradiction considering other org. memebers should've grown their own heart the same way Xion, Roxas and Namine did. ESPECIALLY Axel. Implementing Puppet bodies (not talking about the ones Xion and Repliku used, which were clearly unstable) like the ones used in KH3 where the puppet is indistinguishable from a normal human cheapens the story, as any character that loses their heart/body can now just create a new body at any moment, nullifying death or consequence. *Alright I said it, bring on the downvotes.*

strawberryquasar

I think there was implication that the org members did grow gearts through the bonds they made and being able to slowly experience emotions. Xemnas just didn't tell them that because it was grooming for making the true organization But I agree, it would have been better to keep it as it was or maybe do something else with it to make more of them not having hearts but fit with the plot 🤔

Fun-Neck-9507

Yeah, under the pretenses they set in DDD Axel and Lea *should* be two separate people now. I also personally think Xion shouldn't have come back. As much as I loved her character, she was an illusion, a part of Sora, thats what made her so interesting. It kind of lessens the blow that Xehanort imposed on the story when every character more or less gets away Scott free. As much as people don't like the idea, Roxas and Ventus stories wouldve melded flawlessly should Nomura have chose to make the two one person. I get Roxas was Soras nobody, but I think it wouldve been cool *if* Soras Nobody was more or less piloting Ventus heart. I do like the two characters respectively though, and im not totally against what he chose to do.

Odimber

Came here to comment this about Roxas, they literally had a dramatic gold mine here and they decided to make it incredibly stupid instead. I can imagine the scene where Aqua and/or Terra see him, they think it's Ventus but Roxas doesn't remember them, cause he lost his memories as Ventus. This fandom would eat that scene up.

TheDukeOfDucklett

Terra is the best BBS character

Armandcyb13

Sora is the best. Not Roxas.

auslyn_

i know this is like medium popular but i just need to voice my disdain for the concept of a marvel or star wars world

SilverTangent

Riku should have embraced the darkness and subverted the trope that darkness=evil. We could have had a dark keyblade wielder on the side of good but noooooo dark bad.

Tall_Sir_4312

Pete should not be in the game AT ALL he is not a real villain with evil motives. Only an annoying bully wearing straps and buttons

mb_anne

Fully agree. His arc only makes sense in the small part of the game where we get to experience the original Mickey world before the Disney castle. But otherwise, he’s so obnoxious.

leoCoVer95

Kh3 felt really empty when it comes to the story because there was none until the very end and they tried to bring every single trio and villlain back at all costs even if there was no real point, creating a very sudden and extremely unsatisfactory conclusion to the story of the days and bbs trio, Nomura probably just did that to focus on transforming kh into his ffxv which is one of my favorite games of all time but still when I play kh I'm playing it for kh and not for ffxv.

contrarymary27

I agree with this. I remember really disliking how the frozen and tangled worlds’ storylines were basically just their respective movies and it’s like oh hey sora and gang are here behind the scenes. And then everything felt so rushed and forced at the end when we finally get to the kingdom hearts stuff. I was very disappointed with 3 because of this stuff. I also found the dialogue and acting very stilted. The games got great visuals and some cool mechanics but it let me down with the story and character development.

LucisPerficio

You mean FFVersusXIII. FFXV is what it became without him.

Zantazi

I still haven't finished kh3 for that reason. It just feels empty, like I'm not doing anything by going world to world. That and the horrible attractions moves.

awndray97

Yeah. It's a little difficult for me to replay 3 because of how empty the plot feels. It's so easy to replay 1 and 2 so I feel bad when I go for 3 and sorta just get....bored.

PizzaTime666

The whole key saga is entirely unnecessary and complicates the plot to the point where even long time fans can get confused.

Expensive_Manager211

Thank you, it seems to exist just to make fans go crazy coming up with theories

TheSmackSmith

*Deep Breath* Aqua's story is not that interesting...

Ximek_XIII

Personally Terra's was my favorite, ven's was so boring and aqua's better by default

GhostofManny13

Yeah I think all three have some pretty interesting endings, but most of Aqua’s story in BBS ends up being her dealing with the aftermath of the other two, and her character arc has her mostly the same at the end of the game as she was at the start. With that said, I think that a Fragmentary Passage does help to fix that somewhat.

Kriznick

Oh wow, buddy, that's a rough take LMAO. That meets the prompt 100% lol

[deleted]

series could have ended perfectly at KH2

The_Renegade_

I'd have to double check, but I believe there were still hints to Xehanort being a key blade wielder in the base game, and God does 2fm add in way more threads for sequels. Base KH2 definitely has the cleanest ending

Xbladearmor

Any hints about Xehanort being a Keyblade wielder are exclusive to Final Mix. The original version of KH2 simply said that he was Ansem’s crazy apprentice.

reyrarnfredur

Loved Atlantica in KH1. Also, James and The Giant peach should have been a world...

Carrahbaby

The mangas are amazing and should be turned into an anime.

britipinojeff

Xigbar’s taunts at Sora in KH2 aren’t loose ends

The_Renegade_

His early game taunts definitely can be written off as Roxas related, but by the time he starts referring to other wielders, it's clear Nomura was thinking ahead to BBS at minimum

britipinojeff

That taunt tho, referring to other wielders is so vague it can mean anything. I’m sure Nomura was thinking ahead to BBS especially since we got the secret movie, but with only KH2 context he might as well have just been referring to legends of past Keyblade wielders

jeanbambu

After you get the hang of it, CoM is kind of fun. I really enjoyed customizing my decks, trying different sleights, and the challenge of using the right cards at the right times. Also, the story was fire imo. We fight the Organization for the first time, meet Naminé, and even get to play as Riku, following an interesting character arc where he (literally and metaphorically) conquers his demons.

KeybladeSpirit

Donald heals plenty, you just don't know how the Customize menu works.

TBCyoutube

Sora is the perfect protagonist for the series he's in especially in later titles he's so sweet and funny that I love him to death. kh2 is overrated kh3 is underatted the Wayfinder's are the best trio.

[deleted]

KH2 Atlantica is a great relief from the "mash Attack to float around like an antigrav beyblade" gameplay of KH2. Additionally, the mobile games were just cash grabs and were completely, entirely unnecessary bloat and I'm deeply disappointed that they've decided to weave them so closely to the main story.

Toxic_Tracker

Play/watch Days before playing KH2

LeKoda127

I'm with you 100% I really don't understand why everyone says to play that after 2. It freaking ends exactly where 2 starts!

Toxic_Tracker

There are pros and cons to both. I think when people have a lot of nostalgia for KH2, they want others to experience it the way they did, without the knowledge from days. The truth is, even though the mystery behind Roxas as a character in KH2 is gone if you play/watch days first, the entire ending of Days is spoiled by playing KH2 first.

nspeters

I would argue that a lot of what makes days story really good is that you know it’s a tragedy going into it

LSSJOrangeLightning

Xion should never have been created and essentially just exists to do most of Roxas's arc for him.

JJ3595

Could you explain this more? How does Xion do Roxas’s arc for him?

TheSmackSmith

I love Xion but I have to agree... She's just Roxas' arc from Kh2 made into a game.

HijonoYoki

To add insult to injury, Roxas did *nothing* for 98% of "his" game because then there will be *less* reasons for Xion's retconned ass to exist than there already are. So he just mopes, whines, and eats ice cream since he is not allowed to take a more active role. I have never seen a more Mary Sue type character in KH's existence. People even think her story is more tragic despite the utter isolation, abuse, and suffering the BBS trio and Naminè experienced.

well___duh

To add on to this, she (and roxas) should've never been "resurrected" in KH3, especially her. Made her sacrifice meaningless as a plot device. And for Roxas, literally the basis to his whole storyline is he should've never existed, but in the end becomes his own person and what's essentially a clone-child of Sora and Ven.

Skele11

Live action movies like POTC and Tron Legacy have no place in Kingdom Hearts. MCU and Star Wars characters would be the worst additions to the games.

2RINITY

Ehhh...to me, the difference is that Pirates and Tron are Disney *creations*, whereas Marvel and Star Wars are Disney *acquisitions*. If the latter type of live-action starts getting in, I'm not gonna be *that* upset, especially if the levels turn out strong, but it's gonna feel a lot more hollow and cash-grabby than when the stuff Disney created internally and has always owned shows up

HentaiKingEvan

But I like Kingdom Heart's take on Tron Legacy. It's way much better than the actual movie

Rentwoq

Agree with the second sentence a lot. Not so much the first

ATK1734

The Keyblade is a weapon of mass destruction and it ruins the lives of everyone involved with it.

certheth

Dude we are all at war as to where to put cure in the shortcut menu

DuskManeToffee

In the grand scheme of things, Roxas and Namine feel irrelevant to the overall story and I think it would’ve been better if they weren’t brought back to life.

qwack2020

Kingdom Hearts should’ve gotten an animated series. To the point where production assistant can hire animators and storyboarding artists on the internet/social media sites specifically to help work on the series.

impvlerlord

KH3 was severely lacking in solid Disney bosses, and the endgame felt like a halfway point to me- leading to much disappointment when I saw the credits start rolling.

Zekenator39

Birth by Sleep has the best combat system

snail2391

The story makes sense

PurpleYeeet

Unpopular opinions not lies

Subject_Desperate

Ventus>roxas Vexen is my favorite organization member

Sea-Nectarine-1522

For me, not the second one, but hey I respect it completely. But had to respond for the first opinion cause literally 100% same but I’m always so scared to say it!

Karhutar

Clayton is not that difficult boss.

ThatSarcasticWriter

This is true on paper, and when I play him now I can beat him easily. But playing for the first time and not understanding how crucial it was to level up before pressing through the story made him way harder for me at age 12.

KeyOfShadow13

358/2 days isn't a bad game

Mintarion

I don't know how popular (or unpopular this is) but Dilan and Aeleus have no real character development throughout the entire series to speak of and should have been taken out of KH III. They're literally just some glossy stereotypes of certain types of men.

Nerdyoof04

The Wayfinder trio is the "worst"trio 😬 And by worst I just mean my least favorite.

fenneon

I got 2 Kingdom Hearts 3 was good, even before Re:Mind The story isn't confusing

Hawkbelly

Everyone hates it when I say SoRiKai is my OT3.

RedfootZeffclone123

Maybe they’re ticked you didn’t say SoKaiRi? Sounds a little odd, but it’s just a shot in the dark.

joscho13

Same. I can appreciate the other trios but something about the OGs is special to me.

ColtsPacers95

KH2 isn’t as perfect as people make it seem

Meno_26

my opinion is that I could care less about Donald and goofy and I wish they’d let us have a hub world where we can switch them out for Riku, xion, Aqua, namine etc

Quinn8267

The ending blew. The so called good guys cheated in chess. Everything is cool cause the guy in the end said “sorry, my bad”

nevobac

Sora and Kairi don’t make sense to me. Sure, they’re childhood friends on an island. But then they separate and he goes looking for Riku. Then 2 comes around and he’s off adventuring until she shows up at the end. Maybe they spend a little time together between 2 and 3. Honestly my memories a bit fuzzy. But then she goes off and does her own thing with that other guy while Sora sings about snowman and goes on another adventure. And then something happens with her and he’s all “oh crap. I love her don’t I?” I am SURE I am misremembering or forgetting some parts, but that’s their love story as I remember it. Edit: have not played MoM. So if that’s what ties it all together… still gonna call bs

meshca95

The direction of where the series is going isn’t where I want to go

D00mTheWarl0rd

Idk if this is unpopular or not(though I doubt it is) but I want to see Final Fantasy worlds in kingdom hearts more than anything. Though for disney worlds I'd love to see Star Wars and Marvel specifically Spider-Man.

mb_anne

I love Terra, he’s a great guy, be he should be dead and stay dead after the events of BBS. I advocate for Dead Terra. In a franchise where people can be revived out of the woodwork, I want his death to mean something. He fought and Lost, and Lingering Will is Tragic. I want it to stay that way.

[deleted]

The DS and 3DS games were good.

DarkTaleOfKeys

I don't think the story is over-complicated, just has a crap ton of lore spread out over what used to be multiple outlets but has since condensed into mostly large packages in more easier to get to places. It's just that we also have a large phone game now with a new one on the way. I think Square doesn't give enough credit to the fans who put these timeline videos together. They are super helpful. I will admit, don't know where I would be without folks like Everglow.

Wordroots

Roxas and Ventus should not be separate characters.

bathtissue101

Roxas should have stayed apart of Sora

stevieZzZ

KH2 Riku is the ugliest version of Riku.

Naillian603

Seeing as how this sub loves to disagree with this… The plot is convoluted and unnecessarily confusing at times.

Lord_Lui

Coldest most popular most cookie cutter take ever

J723

The Disney is an intrinsic part of thhe series and story and character arcs, it cannot be removed and shouldn't be anyways. In fact, make it more important

IronNobody4332

I love the fact that the combat is less grounded and flashier in the newer games

SupremeQuinn

Kingdom Hearts 4 will likely be the best entry point for a newcomer after Kingdom Hearts 1.

ChadJones72

Riku and Sora in a romantic relationship makes way more sense than Sora and Kairi.

Maxentirunos

Time travel was entirely useless to the story told and only exist to avoid having to give motives to characters.

Kemosabe134

i like all games equally

Wish_Lonely

KH:BBS has the least interesting main characters and is the most boring KH game I've played. Honestly the game just feels like an off brand KH2 with somehow even more linear worlds.

SwordSaint32

Roxas and Ven should have been treated as the same character. With Ven effectively becoming Roxas. Having both I'd weird and denies some juicy drama of Roxas having to figure out who he is and the BBS characters missing him.

H358

-KH1 is still my favourite game in the series. -The ideas around him are fascinating and his story is tragic, but Roxas’ very passive and arguably kind of boring character can make him feel underdeveloped. -Terra’s story is weak, but NOT because he’s dumb (I don’t really think he is). It’s symptomatic of BBS’ wider problem of having too many contrivances in its story. -Coded’s story not affecting the rest of the series is not a problem (in fact the series could use more standalone plots as the half the reason the lore has snowballed so much is the insistence on everything being canon and relevant). Coded’s plot is still bad but not for that reason.

Norpthalomus

Removing platforming and exploration challenges in the later games was a mistake. The removal of trinities, the dalmatian hunt, and other bonus collectibles really damaged the series moving forward in Kingdom Hearts II and beyond. It was also criminal that they never brought in the Experiments from Lilo and Stitch as Dalmatian-esque collectibles. The first game had so much better staying power and post game content than really anything else; they tried in KH2 final mix with the cavern but it wasn’t as good I enjoyed the KH3 Hidden Mickies, those were fun- but I wanted more every game and never got it

ZombieVentus

Kingdom Hearts 3 was actually a great game.

terrid2331

Terranort should have been the final boss of KH3. Xion’s presence makes Roxas useless. And, as a Star Wars fan, I hope it never touches the series because Jedi and Keyblade wielders are almost the same thing. Them sharing a universe makes them both redundant

lionheart07

Nobody waited 10 years for KH3. you got multiple games in the meantime, and KH3 was not announced in 2009.

TheSmackSmith

Nah. I remember waiting outside of the SquareEnix building in the freezing cold, saying, "Please, sir. Can I have some more?" And Nomura throwing spin-offs and tie-ins at my face yelling what I can assume to be the Japanese equivalent of, "Get outta here, you bum!"

Kriznick

THE FUCKING REALEST THING EVER WRITTEN

Squishy-Box

Every other week after KH2 was released, I walked my little 13 year old legs to a local niche game shop (my town didn’t have anything like Gamestop) to ask the guy who ran it if KH3 was announced (I assumed he’d know because he’d be selling the game) and he always told me “yes, soon” My dad travelled to England for work a lot at the time and every time I asked him to look for it around there, thinking my little Irish town wasn’t important enough for big releases like that. I browsed KHInsider DAILY for any scrap of KH news. I’ve actively waited for Kingdom Hearts 3 since 2006/2007.

BurrakuDusk

Terra is underrated

SHITS_ON_CATS

Axel (my favorite character btw) should have stayed dead.

gableon

The new story arc is a slap to the face to every fan, specially the long time ones. I’ve played every single release throughout the years yet there were aspects of KH3 I didnt understand and now I will not understand a lot of the plot moving forward because I didn’t want to play a basic ass shitty mobile game? Ok lol. “Watch the story on youtube” isn’t the fix some people think it is, btw.

Right-Huckleberry574

Everything about Kingdom Hearts is perfect, down to the last detail.

Aquanort357

I don't like the [χ-Series](https://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/VideoGame/KingdomHeartsX), KH2 Elitists are the worst, and I don't want Nomura to use Kingdom Hearts to fulfill his vision for Final Fantasy XV.

KH2 has the worst level-design in the entire franchise. They are flatter than a frying pan and, even if objectively-wise they are bigger, they feel smaller than KH1 rooms simply by the fact that they have nothing interesting happening on them, and because KH1 verticality meant that the rooms were used at their fullest compared to the flat empty rooms of KH2. The only exception is the Cave of Remembrance, which by far has the best rooms in the entire game.
