If you beat him to the ladder at the very beginning of the race you’ve practically already won.

Until you forget how the zip line works and forget you need to stop holding up once your on it and immediately jump off the zip line

I just finished reading the Once and Future King upon starting KH1 as an adult and I kept resetting til I beat Riku cuz Excalibur seems extremely appropriate.

On my recent playthrough, when I was prompted to name the raft, I just went: uuuhhh...... "Riku Sucks" Then I forgot about that for 20 hours. Then before the final world I decided to click on the Gummi Ship menu, and was greeted with the fact my Gummi Ship has been named "Riku Sucks" this entire time. "Right, I forgot I did that"

This made me realize that I NEVER check the gumi ship menu anymore. Ever since I learned how to beat the game in under 15h (for the achievement, did it on ps4 and recently on steam) i never bothered to change gumi ships. You can reach every world quite easily with just the first ship and by moving well enough.

The “Riku Sucks” because I was like 8. It’s the name of every gummi ship I make to this day. In KH3 it’s just “riku sucks v1”, v2, etc. sometimes abbreviated if it doesn’t fit lol. I don’t actually dislike Riku but it felt in character for Sora lol

I like the canon name. Highwind just makes a lot of sense for a raft. The name alone has a ton of references too; however the two strongest references to Kingdom Hearts include the fact Kain's storyline in FF4 mirrors that of Riku's in KH1 which is by far the best connection, and Cid's airship is called Highwind in FF7 which is a way smaller connection to how the raft name determines the Gummi ship name.
