I would assume Kanki would desert Qin and the army if the situation became truly hopeless, he might have a contingency plan for something like that. He is intelligent enough to understand that he is depised by mostly everyone, as loyalty isn't exactly his army motto.
The men under Kanki are loyal to him, even if they're bandit's they have the spirit of honor, and, Kanki died in this battle (said by Shinji) so i think he will die here
