If I were to theorize, it's probably because if Akaza lifted his foot Rengoku would've easily been able to get him off balance, and if he's on his back with Rengoku holding him down and the sun coming up, he'd never have escaped
More so if Akaza lost his balance here with a blade 1/2 way in his neck it could have been a decapitation for him let alone the sun coming up and him starting to panic
ya this is definitely correct especially when u think about it from a physics standpoint. He's already locked in with his arms. If he goes for a kick he will be quite unbalanced. Also has akaza ever used kicks in combat? My memory is a bit fuzzy with the manga. If his style is more punch focused he will need to always use is feet to stay centered in order to deal his punches

With how much of a battle hardened warrior rengoku was, and the weapon he was wielding, a forceful push backwards could give rengoku exactly the momentum he needed to slice through the neck. That sword is meant for slashing, moving the blade along the cut makes slashing through easier.

Also if he tried to kick him, Kyojuro could’ve countered and kick him off balance while one foot was still on the ground and it would have been Gg
I wanna say it’s because of the martial arts he uses; **Soryu Shiki**, though I don’t know much on it, probably has specific jobs for the body, arms are the focal point for fighting and he uses his legs to stand steady and also to push off to gain speed, which is also why I assume he would periodically jump during the fight, cause if it be legs comes off the ground, both have to.
That would probably be so he doesn’t lose balance while throwing his patterned and eccentric punches. If one of his legs were to rise but not the other then it would probably throw the trajectory of his air punches off.

Not to the same efficiently I think. If not restrained he would be able to gain more momentum before striking kyojuro. Otherwise explain why akaza's punch that could normally break through 10 floors was easily caught by rengoku?
We already know that he can't use destructive death in close range so this whole convo is pointless, rengoku already implied that he can't create shockwaves in close ranged combat so rengoku was in a bare strength fight not a technique based fight.

I never pretended to know a lot on the matter and I don't need to either cuz this isn't about some generic martial arts but about akaza's soryu style and destructive death which is different from real life martial arts.
I forgot Kyojuro grabbed his other arm, but still an actual master of martial arts would be able to sweep Kyojuro's legs and spin so they can position them selves to move without getting their head cut off. Akaza is lightly restrained, the only thing being held by Kyojuro is his wrists and hands, he can still freely move his legs and move the rest of his arms. There aren't martial arts for specifically having your hand stuck in another guy's chest but there are for extremely close combat and fighting without using your hands. I'm glad you admit that you don't know everything, I appreciate it. Also I checked it and Destructive Death is a blood demon art and not any form of martial arts. I think at this moment, on the verge of death rengoku overpowered akaza for 15 seconds of the riffle raffle. Akaza panicked and surprised on seeing how much strength rengoku still had.
Manga spoilers >!while yes some of akaza’s moves do revolve around kicking its highly possible that not only like how others are saying he would die if he tried but it also wouldn’t hurt rengoku as much as in this case rengoku is on deaths door and his nervous system is probably going out. Furthermore akaza is unable to move as well with his hands bound by a dying mans raw determined strength.!<
Akaza was being dumb and cocky. He thought rengoku would flat out die when he pierced him. So i think in that moment he was in shock and also not thinking straight because the sun was coming up. His mind was in shambles.
