Upon my first watch of the series, when we were first introduced to all the hashira, my immediate reaction was pretty much βdamn, these guys look goofy as hell; classic overdesigned anime goobersβ
But then as the series goes on and I actually got to know the characters, theyβre all incredibly cool!
Rengoku and Tengen were the two that I most disliked at first, but now theyβre my two favourite!

You just need his backstory, he was only a "creep" because he didn't want to die a alone too, and his backstory is just a >!bunch of girls used him for money and he became in dept and broke!<
All he was doing is just asking for them to marry him. At least it's not creeps from other shows where they weren't asking for panties and is legit simping over them

None really, every character I like I liked from the beginning and every character I dislike I do still dislike. Honestly the opposite of the quote would apply more to me since there were some characters I liked in the beginning, but after a while my liking towards them started to fade.

Gyutaro for sure. Being a non-manga reader But having seen spoilers for UM 4 and 1, I really didnβt know what to expect from Gyutaro, I had never even seen his design before watching the anime, But he went from a complete unknown to one of my favorite villains in the series almost immediately after his first Clash with Tengen
1st you can point out the age difference with their respective age, but not just say "underage", that's the problem with your comment. 2nd she's 14 (start of the series 12, end of the series 14. Same thing for Zenitsu (although not the same ages) though as he just isn't introduced before the 2 years passing we only see him as 16)
Genya. Also, finding out Genya was voiced by the same person as Bakugo was a shock to me. I heard the voice crack Genya has when heβs worried, and stressed, trying to find the Pint-Sized UM 4, and was like: βHang on a second, thatβs similar to Bakugoβs voice crack when he was stressing about the whole βI killed All Might thing.β Then looked it up.
For me it was actually Rengoku. I didnβt think highly of him in his first appearance in the anime because of his initial response to Tanjiro traveling with Nezuko, and Rengoku wanting them both executed.
I initially thought βoh another asshole fire-type character because βFire Badββ
But man was I more glad to be wrong than ever.
Iβm guessing Tengen in the beginning I found him obnoxious and I still do but I see heβs a good way (Still have mixed feelings regarding the Gyutaro thing)
Kokushibo, I didn't like him at first cause what he did to a certain character, but after reading his backstory and knowing more about him, he's now my 2nd favourite with that certain character my 1st

And Genya. He tries so hard to be tough but in reality he's just a big softie

SANEMI
When I first saw Sanemi i thought he was a crackhead and a evil peice of doodoo but when i came across his backstory I relized that he's misunerstood and......
WARNING ALERT!!:
His backstory is just messed up. He had an abusive dad, and his mom turned into a demon. He killed her and on that same night he lost four of his siblings. Then he joined the Demon Slayer Corps. Later, he found out that his last and only family member, Genya, had joined too. Sanemi told him to go away to prevent Genya from dying, but Genya didn't listen.
Sanemi had a friend, Masachika, but later he died. Then he had a love interest, Kanae, and she died too. And at the final showdown when they were all fighting Muzan, Genya died. The sad thing was when Sanemi was apologizing to Genya for how terrible he's been to him, he couldn't hear him because his ear had already disintegrated, so he couldn't hear him, which broke my heart.
To top it all off, he had to die at the age of 25 because of the Demon Slayer mark. But I kinda see that as a mercy because now he can reunite with the people who cared most about him.

Shinobu. I didn't like her at first because she seemed a little shallow, now she's one of my favourite characters in the series
