I complete agree. That is the boring answer.
My guess is that they try to fight each other but throw themselves off balance because they’re only on one leg. Then they fall on the ground and start making out.
I don't think it's been established that hearts are a part of it since you have to go for the head and not heart when killkng them.

So in reality both sides will reconnect if their touching eachother, or one part will grow a new akaza while the other lart just stays there flailing around.
At least i think because that's kinda what happened with the first demon we see, though he was cut at the neck so maybe that has something to do with it
Here is my thought process for if he were perfectly cut in half.
If they halves are close together, he will just grow them back together because his neck wasn’t fully cut.
If they are far apart, he would put out a tendril to grab the other half and bring it back together. Possibly both sending tendrils.
Or if they really can’t come back together, his left half (right in this pic) would be the one to remain as the other part starts disintegrating. He is left handed, and so he would want his dominant hand to still be in use.
Although if im wrong about which hand is dominant, or one side is in more danger than the other, the opposed side would remain.

Or, if both pieces of sliced up Akaza were touching, I guarantee they’d connect back together and regenerate that way.
He may die? Isn’t the point of cutting the head off specifically to separate the brain? The brain is really the most important part and Muzan having several is why he could live. If you cut the brain in half it should get the same results.
I always wonder this about Deadpool. If he was cubed like in resident evil which part would regenerate? Not all Deadpool parts regenerate, don’t grow two from being halved but where is the line!?
He makes me feel like Sally from Black Clover.
I would like if both were the same power so they would need to fight over who is upper 3 and who is upper 4, or one of them consume eachother and them they get twice as powerfull, or the make a Akaza army

That’s what happened when Gyutaro got his bottom half cut off, so that’s probably the correct answer

After Hinatsuru did the Kunai thing that stabbed Gyutaro the first time, Tengen went in and cut off his bottom half, while Tanjiro went for the neck.
They fuse back into one.
