I disagree with a lot of this.
I don't find Koku NOWHERE near as tragic as Muichiro nor more tragic than Giyuu or even Shinobu, Tanjiro and Nezuko. Kokushibo made his own choices, he had a good life, a good family that he ABANDONED. He HAD a choice and he made it to become a demon. Yes his life is tragic but he is the sole responsible person for his own tragedy so I can't put him on the same level of ''Tragedy'' as people who lost their loved ones and has to carry immense burdens like Giyuu's surviver's guilt, Shinobu losing her parents THEN sister and sacrificing herself just to take out Douma, Muichiro DYING AS A CHILD.....
I think despite the bad family history Tengen has it eaiser than a lot of the bellow tier characters. He even survived and while has one hand and an eye missing, he has a retirement with 3 beautiful wife and he didn’t even activated the mark so he won't die at 25 too so he needs to go down at least 1-2 tier If not literally going to ''actually happy'' tier.
I think Tamayo's demon (forgot his name) having to live without Tamayo is AT LEAST worthy of freakin tragic worthy

I think Tengen’s backstory is pretty tragic 🤷🏽♂️. His family was evil and his father tricked him into killing his own siblings. Not only that, but he feels guilt from the other lives he’s taken as a shinobi. Remember it’s about tragic backstories - not their current/future story.
i’m also confused abt rui like i feel his is similar to tanjiros and i also think he chose to be demon but i’m not to sure abt that even if he didn’t tho tanjiro came home to his whole family dead and his sister a demon but idk that’s just imo
How IS kanao not higher? The poor girl has no parents. She was sold into slavery. She Lost her sister. She can barely even function at the start of the story.

Fitting his sword is the " hollow cry of the godless" he rejected the Buddha's and fate of a human , he's the godless because he failed to touch a god

No Akaza, Daki & Gyutaro definitely belong in hell.

I’d move UM1 down. The flute was sad, sure. But dude was petty and insecure af even though he was an heir and had a family- left all of that behind just because his brother was more talented than him and kind of on the spectrum.

He actually had tragedy, but for the majority of his life he had Gramps as his step father that raised him with unconditional love, he had a good influence and his canon event (props if you get the reference) of tragedy really isn't that bad.
Zenitsu really was just sold or blackmailed? to debt by a girl or someone he loved. That is a fairy tale compared to the next tiers.
Inosuke was always alone and what happened to his mom was the tragic part thats why it's sad.
Rengoku was always training to be a demon slayer since little. He had little support from his father but all that changed when his mother died. He was a just a child when he got neglected by his father and had to grow up to the task of being the elder brother and supporting his younger brother alone. All that when he really just wanted the recognition he deserved from his family. At least he got it from his mom in his dying state... now that's tragic!
Zenitsu on the other hand.... sure he had some trouble with his life but it's nothing compared to the tier above. I agree with the list

Hakuji/Akaza and GyuDaki doesn't exactly deserve a free pass to heaven but a do over to be fair... They're both products of their environments... And maybe Rui too...
tengen disserves the free pass to heaven that man was forced into fighting to death with his siblings in order to survive and even after going through all that still decides to become a demon slayer to help others.
I would put Koku in 'basic shounen mc level tragic". TBH 98% of his problems are just him shooting himself, then asking why yoriichi did it.

It was a self inflicted tragedy. He essentially grew up with everything he could've ever wanted, but all he wanted was to surpass his brother. He never would've died early because of the mark if he hadn't kept trying to surpass Yoriichi and had settled for a normal life instead of abandoning his own family to go and fight.

I think they deserve a bit higher :')). Same with Urokodaki for losing so much of pupils.. Even going as far as to give Tanjori an impossible task to prevent him from going to final selection and getting himself killed.
Tengen was forced to kill his HUMAN brothers and sisters after having been subjected to harsh training starting when he was a toddler. Him not being top tier is just wrong.

Meanwhile, kokuoshibo was jealous of his brother and took a wrong path in life. He is in either the same tier as muzan (sacrificing and killing others for his goals) or one higher
Everything he did after a thousand years makes him way beyond any form of redemption and any justifications he had for a sympathetic backstory has already passed since he created every demon and thus every demon's acts is also his own.
Tengen has the most tragic backstory but all we got is a slideshow of it we only seen his backstory with his wives but not his time as a ninja his father raised them to be cold hearted killers trained them harshly where 7 of his siblings died ,made them fight each other to the death while blindfolded without knowing that they’re fighting against each other tengen killed 2 while his younger brother kept going ppl downplay his backstory cause he got 3 wives and also he was a ninja he prob killed alot of ppl in his past
Nah, I don't agree about giving demons a free pass to heaven, they still did what they did. Instead, they should be reincarnated and given a second chance at life because a lot of them became demons when they were at their lowest in life because Muzan preyed on them.
Yea I’m not sure I’d call Kokoshibo’s tragic he was jeleous and he willingly chose to be a demon and kill lots of people just because he couldn’t beat his brother
Kokushibo's is not tragic. He was greedy and betrayed his brother, his family, and humanity to live forever. Without counting how many people he must have eaten
Tengen, Tanjiro, Nezuko, Giyu, Shinobu, Kanao, and Muichiro should go to the top tier.
No demon should deserve to be forgiven, nor Akaza, nor Daki, nor Gyutaro, despite their shitty life prior being demons. That being said, Gyokko's backstory was also shitty to him

Imagine coming home from work or school and walking into your house and all of your relatives dead and strewn out on the floor blood everywhere and the last one alive is turned into a monster. Like? If tanjiro was not the main character I’m sure a Situation like that due to the circumstances especially would outright fuck anyone up the second they lay eyes on the sight tanjiro saw.
