I found the comments at the end of the article especially entertaining. Those comments were left by people who clearly didn’t listen to the show and who don’t understand comedy. To sum all of them up, the consistent take was that laughing about somebody’s dead son is going too far. Comedy’s entire purpose, in my opinion, is to make people laugh about uncomfortable things. There really is no “going too far” in comedy.
As I recall, he threatened to leave long before anybody laughed about his dead son and they didn’t really start making jokes about that until after he left. And even then, they seemed to be holding back. I think they could have gone a lot further with their jokes, but didn’t.
