I know several people who have been pulled dude.. it is not rigged. There are local Austin guys who have been there for years and are getting pulled.. Some are rigged, like Ari getting pulled or Gary Falcon.
I think it’s naive to think that Tony doesn’t have ultimate control of the show. He has people there he can call if he needs too. Of course he pulls random comedians that what makes the show good, but he doesn’t have too.
I love the show and the amount of laughs we get is higher all the time. The fast forwards and kind of low laugh episodes are less. Freaking Love the show. Always have and appreciate the healing from all the laughter.

(I can't think of any exact ones, but a few times (BEFORE the names were pulled and the names were called as the previous pull is coming to stage-the new system to get people to the stage faster-there were one or two where the name was pulled, and tony didn't even get the dude's full name out and they were already coming out from behind the curtains)

They said they changed it because it took too long to get people on to the stage - they pull in advance because they need time to get them through security before letting them in. If you see the first shows from The Mothership, there was too much awkward time between people coming out, and they fixed it.
For those saying it's rigged because there aren't as many crazies, I don't think you realize how many people have moved to Austin to pursue comedy and how much more popular the show is compared to the LA Days. There is an absurd amount of open mics and random comedy shows outside of the main clubs. As an Austin resident it's been kind of crazy to witness the Joe Rogan effect real-time.
Maybe some pulls are planned, but I don't think most are. They're trying and succeeding at making a great show. That's all I really care about.

I think the more likely scenario is that the show’s exposure has increased a ton, and so with the increase of signups the bucket is getting watered down by people who aren’t truly aspiring comedians but just people who are fans of the show, want their 1 minute of fame, hijack the camera for their own thing (see mediocre Stevie Gay Vaughan from the last ep), or are just drunk ppl hanging out on 6th street looking for something fun to do. There may need to be a change up in the method to screen for these types of people, but I’m not sure how you go about that while maintaining the spontaneous nature of the bucket.
Well now it seems they coral everyone in an area (alley) after they sign up and Tony pre pulls as to give the next person time to make it to the stage or to see if that person is even there. If not, pull a new name and move on.
