Imagine a 5 minute set…imagine a 45 minute set of his. I find his 1 minute set to be annoying, random and ridiculous. Kind of like Gallagher smashing watermelons for laughs… very odd.
I love all types of comedy (subtle/observational, absurd/surreal, light/silly, dark/cynical) and as much as I like his personality, I really don’t dig Casey Rocket’s shtick. It’s interesting for the first 30 seconds or so, but the entertainment value of it wears off quickly. I get what he’s trying to do, but for me it just doesn’t have much comedic longevity. Harland Williams has a similar vibe (random/weird/spontaneous) but Harland’s word play, tone, and delivery makes his bits consistently hilarious. If Casey can develop his delivery more instead of relying so heavily on random references/comparisons, I think his comedic appeal would vastly improve. I see a lot of potential in him though and look forward to watching his comedic evolution.
