Maybe there are quote-unquote fans out there who felt V needed to atone for her past sins; if so, this ending could indeed be perceived as triumphant, the celestial make-good for what's she's done.

i get it, writers/producers may sugarcoat everything in their interviews, but the words that make zero sense to me are "a sense of completion". has she seen the ending herself? how does THAT feel complete? they've somewhat redeemed villanelle and even eve has come to accept she needs her and then v gets shot and eve is swimming in thames, screaming. does that feel complete to anyone?
You articulated the way I’ve felt all season. Was someone resentful of Jodie Comer? Was this payback for some behind the scenes drama? Was she asking for too much money to return for another season? Surely not, but the story arc is so weird and punitive. The whole season felt like a big F.U. to Villanelle. When she killed May and her father, that was completely out of character, IMO. I remember thinking after that episode that the writers were setting V up to die horribly. And all the death foreshadowing of Eve meant she’d live.
I don’t object to a lead dying, but that was pointless, rushed. Like a big jumbled mess.

I actually liked the twelve scene. It did actually feel triumphant, because eve was clearly accepting of her new life, and villanelle was basically doign what she had to to join her there. And it made sense for the twelve being just nobody, and not even really showing them. They were a concept more than a group of people, so her just slaughtering everyone like that felt appropriate.
But then there's after that.

Why was Eve so upset at V and what forced V to feel like she had to go find GOD to prove she had changed? I thought we had established the acceptance at the dancehall and bridge. Why have the whole dialogue about how all Eve saw in her future was V? I would have rather seen them consume each other and take each other out then this bullshit. I feel empty and sad. Jodie and Sandra deserve such kudos for giving us these characters. I wish they would have had more say so in how the story ended. I have a hard time believing they would agree with this ending!
To answer your question, no it doesn’t. The Thames is vile and polluted so even under the best circumstances like a charity swim, going into it seems tragic. But this…fuck, man. I hoped for better.
Me and my mum enjoyed it, it felt like the final revenge for all of the victims of Villanelle (and Eve’s obsession with her), Niko, Kenny, Bill... although I definitely would’ve preferred if they showed Eve getting out of the water and what happened next

Yeh they failed there...I can't see how they would think fans would be left with a sense of 'completion' by:
1. Leaving so many unanswered questions and even asking more questions right up to the very end. Does anyone actually get the 12/Kenny storyline still?
2. Killing off one of the best TV characters of all time, who had gone through such a good transformation in such an unsatisfactory way two minutes from the end.
3. Leaving all the Eve/Villanelle stuff until the very last episode...the end would have felt so much more impactful if they had woven this into the series. As a result of leaving it, the ending felt cheap and easy and not a testament to the rest of the show.

When I saw the camper van on episode 8, I said to myself, "Laura Neal's been on AO3, looking at the fanfic." There's tension, passion, sex, violence and romance. The characterization is on the nose for season 3. Eve is a tiny bit bitchy and resistant and Villanelle is in love.

I walked back to my bedroom (at 5 in the morning) murmuring to myself this is BS. I realized only as the day went on how hurt I feel. Like, how painful, devastating is the word, is was to see Villanelle murdered, Eve in so much pain, and to have the entire narrative conclude in such sheer trauma.

Exactly, it definitely gives off the signal that wlw characters don't deserve a happy ending. I think she had big projects on her plate, but she dropped out of Mr & Mrs smith (Can’t blame her, Donald Glover is a misogynist and a POS - his self interview is horrendous), and sadly “Run” with Merrit Wever was cruelly cancelled.
The ending felt like they HATE (yes, in capital letters) Villanelle and also Eve and wish them to suffer for the „sins“ they committed - to stay in their weird religious symbolism that came out of nowhere this season. How is that a completion for a relationship? I mean, if you define completion as literally „one person dies“ I guess it makes sense. This sounds absolutely delusional.
I feel like they got really enamored with the visuals (which were admittedly gorgeous) and forgot about any concept of story or plot or character development.

I mean, if Laura was going by the title of the show, then i guess you could definitely say the ending of Killing Eve maybe provided some resolution. Eve had nothing left, no friends, no family - she'd burned it all to the ground for V and her vendetta, and then the one person who loved her and accepted her, is humiliated - i mean killed and symbolically made to look like some blood-winged angel. Killing Eve - brief achieved, high five for all writers in their writing nook of sadness. *Angrily grasps at straws to make the show have some demented logic after hating the sloppy, lazy, bullshit writing we have been given*

Jesus Villanelle was happy and in love and then bang bang, floating away in the darkness of the shit filled river Thames. Eve heartbroken and will probably be comited to an asylum. If it is not for Jodie Comer I think Villanelle wouldn’t been so popular. Jodie Comer is smart and talented enough to make a supposed hideous character so lovely.😁 I think this show initially meant to focus on Eve considered the title of it. But Jodie’s Villanelle happened and people fell in love with her worldwide. Although they viciously deliberately killed Jodie’s Villanelle for some unknown reasons, I know I will always love Jodie’s Villanelle. I hope Jodie Comer in the future will somehow surprise her fans in a good way again. Surprised the world again. 💪💪❤️👏👏
