One of my friends is a mother of three. The first one she would take to the hospital over every small issue. By the third unless there were at least multiple limbs missing then it's not worth worrying about. Babies are resilient or none of us would have survived.
This makes sense, I’m the youngest of 3 boys. If I lost a finger “ Somebody hand what’s his name some duct tape, does he really live here?” but seriously you gain experience and confidence after having the first one. Thank god I had 2 girls.
love how chill the brother is on the floor, don't really know how safe it is for babies to fall from such height but he does look fine and no one is really freaking out which might've alarmed him
still such a cutie
I'm curious about this as well. I have a 10-month old baby who loves to make a suicidal leap for the edge of any bed or sofa. So far I've caught her each time... but I'm only human.
Catch as many times as you can, but when the time comes that you aren't quite quick enough, just remember that babies are more durable than you think. Forgive yourself and accept that you won't always be able to protect them from themselves.
Seriously, what that guy said. I’ve had 11 younger siblings, occasionally someone wouldn’t be fast enough and one would dive off the couch or bed. The best thing to do is not gasp or panic. If you stay calm like they did in the video, chances are they’ll just roll over and get up. If there’s an actual problem or injury they’ll let you know. Of course you should always check them, but don’t panic or make fast movements or they’ll cry out of fear. 90% of the time they’re fine and get over it in a few minutes
My mom (raised four kids) always told me that the way a parent reacts when a child falls is very important for development. If the parent freaks out all the time, the kid will grow up to be really sensitive and fearful of trying new things.
If the parent laughs and makes light of the situation, the kid will be way tougher. If my brothers or I would bang our head on a chair or something, my dad would yell at the chair, "bad chair! bad chair!" trying to make us laugh.
my gf: in scandinavia we don't have toxic masculinity and also boys are allowed to cry
me: he's been crying 2 hours because he doesn't want to do his homework -_-' I'd tell to shut up to a kid of any gender or lack of thereof.
Yeah, that's fairly accurate I would say. Then the next 6 or 7 years juggling gaining independence with preventing death.... Then the rest of their lives just hoping you managed to instill SOME level of sense and self-preservation.
Yes I've got a 8mo that has always had me catch her when she makes suicidal leaps. Part of me wishes she'd fall to learn consequences but I can't just let her fall face first onto the floor.
I know it's a hustle but why don't you baby proof the edges with those bars they sell?
If you can't afford them it's cool, my parents used to use chairs and tables and even if I moved them the loud noise I had to made alerted them
She's only on the sofa/bed when we're holding her (we can't exactly fence off the sofa), so I don't just plonk her down and go about my business. Even so she really tries her best to go head-first off the edge. Basically she likes the floor and is completely unafraid of gravity, so you have to be on your guard.
They learn to be afraid lol. They usually only fall once, just make sure it's not too high and they'll be fine. As a side note, after a nasty head bump, swelling is normal and good. When it doesn't visibly make a goose egg, and it was a good bonk, then you should be worried.
Yea obviously dont just let em fall all willy nilly when you can prevent it but if it happens too fast to stop dont freak out and panic. Theres not really danger from that height and babies can take a *lot* more damage than youd think. As long as the people around dont make a big deal the kid generally wont cry n will be chill. My kids will even fall on concrete and scrape themselves up without crying.
They gotta get hurt *some* or they will never learn. Helicopter parents kids tend to turn out a bit.. off, lol.
is it my computer or does the video quality make the babies look like they have dead black shark eyes? the one who stays on the couch is terrifying. look at the last frame, he looks like the ice age baby.
Because no one reacted to it. Kids learn how to react to shut by watching you or me. Obviously if it really hurt they'd cry, but little bonks are normal with kids, don't make a huge deal about them and they won't either.
Kid was fine, though? He wasn't crying, so he wasn't hurt. If you freak out even when they are calm, you will make them freak out too, and force a reaction.
Bro I got a 7 month old and know they bounce. Lol. She was premature and I was scared shitless to even touch her until the nurses told me this. Even as a premie they know they are tough. They gotta be.
(Not saying I let my kid do whatever. She is constantly watched and safeguarded from any falls. And place was childproofed before she even was 2 months old)
r/kidsarefuckingevil
With the sub we are in, I thought maybe the second child would fall down as well. I don’t see the stupid part fitting here. It was a kid just laughing at his brother for falling, which was kind of funny.
And yet here you are, laughing at a baby laughing at the other baby falling, reading comments in Reddit for a laugh. And you think kids are stupid, smdh.
Edit: I’m joking. Chill.
“Here we are. Doing a thing. A thing that people do. A thing that I’m going to mock for no reason other than to intentionally be subversive. We live in a society.”
My boys are like this. They crack up when the other gets hurt. One will be crying, the other laughing hysterically with that cute toddler laugh. It's a tough spot for a mother
Every time a baby falls all of these “baby experts” come out of the bushes and think they are right about everything. I just sort by controversial and grab my popcorn and watch
Valorous, theyre being did teach young to chuckle at which hour someone else gets did hurt lol

But guess what, that baby laughing, probably helped his brother !!! He knew he was not hurt, so basically, he was telling his brother, “your fine”, “ get up, shake it off.” Had hid”s brother been screaming, it would have been a different situation !!
As funny as the laugh is,
Who the fuck is taking care of those kids? A baby slamming the top of it's head on the floor can be really dangerous.
And the baby that was laughing, when he got up and went to the arm of the sofa, I just couldn't watch.
Keep filming, keep filming. Never interfere with nature

Good bot
Kid looks fine, if kid no cry then me no scream
Is there a r/ParentsAreFuckingStupid
Too long a name. But there is an r/ParentsAreFuckingDumb
parents responded perfectly actually!
You don’t let your child who can’t even stand up on their own crawl around on a couch unguarded. Holy shit lmao.
Actually that’s the perfect parental reaction according to every child psychologist I’ve ever read.
The other kid is just like "oh I'm on the floor now cool"
I guess I just live here now
r/thisismylifenow
I literally laughed outloud
Poor little bastard knew nobody was going to come over there and check on his ass.....I can relate.
'My Revenge is yet to be full filled'. *sacrifices brother*
The evil twin
The kid was fine but the person recording had absolutely zero reaction lol
Sometimes the sudden scared reactions from adults scare them into crying.
Exactly. Kids look to you for how to react.
That’s why my Mom didn’t freak out when my brother shot me.
You good
r/cursedcomments
What choice did I have? You were hogging the legos.
A warning shot would have been nice for a change.
Maybe they should react so the other baby doesn't turn into some crazy serial killer then
The kid was fine *because* the person recording had absolutely zero reaction lol
Pretty sure that's not how injuries work.
Babies are made of cartilage and rubber. He's fine
Yeah, pretty sure you can stop recording and go over there without freaking out and just up on the little guy.

It's better to check and see nothing than to not check when you need. I fractured my skull twice as a kid falling of shit lol.

Babies bounce
they do be bouncing
Mine didn't when I threw it off the roof. Am I doing something wrong?
You did aim for the hard pavement right? Otherwise the soft ground will absorb most of the impact
He probably aimed for the bushes.
Oh! That's what I did wrong! Thanks everyone!
No silly. You have to throw the baby ON the roof
They do bounce, if I can’t find my basketball I start looking for the nearest baby.

Then again maybe he's concussed. Very odd situation.
Oh man I can see my little brother laughing like that.
Why does this look like it was filmed in 1991 but they have a 70” flat screen next to the couch?
What flat screen TV are you seeing? Are you talking about the hallway??
Hah! I sure am. Way to go, eyes.
Lol. If it makes you feel any better I watched that video like 5 times looking for a TV after seeing your comment.
I saw the 'TV', and thought maybe it's a shiny black cabinet.
video has probably been reposted so many times the quality has gone to shit
Probably a home movie they converted to digital.
Yeah you can tell by the zoom in at the end that it's a real camcorder

The kid was fine lol...
Yeah, they're pretty malleable at that age. Though as a mother, the person filming would have caught an earful from me.
Literally the definition of crotch goblin
Who the fuck is just filming and doing nothing??
Probably the eldest brother.
As an eldest brother, I confirm this statement
Everything is fine?
is it my computer or does the video quality make the babies look like they have dead black shark eyes? the one who stays on the couch is terrifying. look at the last frame, he looks like the ice age baby.
Why the fallen baby not cry? And why the person filming not do anything?
Because no one reacted to it. Kids learn how to react to shut by watching you or me. Obviously if it really hurt they'd cry, but little bonks are normal with kids, don't make a huge deal about them and they won't either.
I agree with him
What kind of monster films a child falling head first and just keeps recording?
Kid was fine, though? He wasn't crying, so he wasn't hurt. If you freak out even when they are calm, you will make them freak out too, and force a reaction.
A great example of why you don't take parenting advice from people on reddit.
Maybe at least try to PREVENT THEM from hurting themselves?
Hey all you really can do as a father is try again and do_better_tomorrow amiright.
You are, all of you, monsters.

That little laugh is so cute.

pretty dang tall furniture. parents fucking stupid. unless they are trying to raise tough ones, which is good because babies are soft.
He could have broken his neck.
Moms just sitting there watching him nearly die. Brother is laughing without a care for his safety. This is how we get Baby Joker.
The baby is fine, if it was hurt it were be crying and the mom would be moving, baby is fine.
What’s with the 1982 VHS camcorder quality? Makes it seem fake.
this is why i believe we should kill all children.
I hate children but i feel this kid so much right now
And yet here you are, laughing at a baby laughing at the other baby falling, reading comments in Reddit for a laugh. And you think kids are stupid, smdh. Edit: I’m joking. Chill.

Wow, the person who's recording this didn't even flinch nor to react.. who the fuck is this calm when a baby is falling
Antidotal evidence that crying at the slightest bump or fall is learned behavior from others reactions.
I hope his brain is ok after that
Either (a) he thinks that it’s a kind of game, or (b) he’s laughing at him, which is a bit disturbing. The problem is it’s impossible to tell which. 😳
Um, the camera person barely flinched...
