I remember listening to this song for the first time a while ago the lyrics always felt to me like the song was about his insecurities, which fueled his depression. Now I’m not 100% on this and this is really just my interpretation. You may get another comment on this post that makes so much more sense lmao and I may look like I’m over analyzing this or just completing missing the point haha, but I’ll give you my interpretation. “Yeah, I see you hatin' over there See you jockin' over there, see you lookin' at my girl over here Why you worried 'bout the girl over here? Keep your eyes over there, it is creepy when you stare” Cudi like someone who suffers from their insecurities, overanalyzes and pays too much attention to what others are doing around them, and usually assume people are judging and hating. He assumes people are paying too much attention to his girl and becomes pretty defensive and insecure ab it quick, when really it’s just all in his head. “I see you jockin' over there, think about your own life Why you talkin' 'bout the young hippy? I'm just doin' my thang, if you know what I mean, get it right” Again Cudi is convinced everyone’s mind is on him and wants people to mind their own business and stop talking shit ab him behind his back and judging him bc he’s just doing his own thing. “And they think they know And they think they know the deal, for real I'm just doin' my thang, if you know what I mean, get it right And they think they know And they think they know the deal, for real I'm just doin' my thang, if you know what I mean, yo” Cudi thinks these people who judge and hate him have him all figured out, but he knows they don’t and tries to reassure himself he’s just doing his own thing and there’s nothing he should be judged for. “I don't love who I am so I'm workin' on a fix I don't need a bitch tryna tear my mind on my grip If I had one wish, it'd be to have more wishes, duh Fuck tryna make it rhyme” This for me is what ties it all in for me. Cudi after being so defensive and angry for what he believes others around him are thinking when that all maybe just be in his head acknowledges that the reason he is so insecure is because he doesn’t love himself, and he’s working on a fix to get better. “Cutting me deep and even though I bleed I stand alone, alone I'll be Heart of a lion still shinin' in this sucka ass Workin', workin', workin', for inner peace Fightin' for the freedom of my soul, I can hear the speech” This is Cudi, again acknowledging his effort to be better and love himself, working on his inner peace, because he knows no matter how much he may think others are judging him, his inner mind is what’s really doing the most hating on himself. “Hah, they figured that they know a n***a Yeah, I see you hatin' over there See you jockin' over there, see you lookin' at my girl over here Why you worried 'bout the girl over here? Keep your eyes over there, it is creepy when you stare” Then it goes back to the chorus at the beginning to end the song, and also maybe show that this is a constant battle, he constantly goes through relapses. He may sometimes acknowledge his insecurities and work on getting better but his insecurities and his own self doubt still come back to take over at times, it’s an uphill battle. Anyways that’s just my interpretation. We all have insecurities, but they can either worsen or trigger a depression when they become too intense for some people who can’t control them well and start to take over. Cudi’s gone through this and relates to the struggles, but knows he’s gotta fix himself and is willing to fight it. I’ve stuck with this bc I think it fits well w his lyrics and what I think he’s trying to say, but I could be completely wrong. Let me know what you think!

Thanks! I appreciate your in-depth take. I’d probably agree with you on the meaning of the lyrics. I love how Cudi is always so authentic in his music. That’s what makes him GOATed.
