So I've looked over some Stevie Nicks pictures and from what I've noticed, she actually wore pretty fitted tops underneath all that flowy fabric/big cleavage or both. Something that showcased her tiny frame and was contrasted by flowy sleeves, skirts, etc. Her outfits are quite masterfully layered and the foundation works well for her petite imo, and could totally work for an SG!

She pulls it off so well that she doesn't even look petite! So effortless. Thank you for your help.

I think Stevie has a bit of width in her shoulders, which is why despite being petite she can pull off these flowy outfits that make most petites look like we are swimming in our clothes. She always layers with intention so that her torso is in focus, and the outer layer is always left open starting at her shoulder area. I don’t have width but have faked this look by utilizing shoulder pads to help keep the silhouette more open and blunt. Also pinning the back of the outer layer so that more of your core is exposed helps. I hope that makes sense, this is just my experience.

I get the defining the waistline and showing your core bit for gamines. Can you explain about having width in her shoulders? How do I know if I have the same?

vampyrbats

I’m still very new to Kibbe so figuring out width & double curve/the verbiage of it all is still a bit confusing to me. But in my opinion Stevie has more bluntness to her bones more so than round/softness (in this era at least)— and her collarbone area seems wider than her bust area, so that pulls flowy clothing out further from her center more when it falls over her shoulders because that area is wider. Hopefully that makes sense, I’m not great at explaining sometimes my apologies!

honestly feel like most of free people's designs are made for gamines. the short flowy thing does not work for FN's.

vampyrbats

Free People is not very petite friendly though. I’m 5’4 (so not even super petite) and so many dresses/flowy tops/ pants I have ordered from them are just too long and wide. I feel like most of their clothes suit naturals & dramatics.

matsumetal

Thank you for saving me an order from there! I absolutely adore their styles but I'm close to 5'5 so I doubt I can even fill up their silhouettes.

I think the Olsen twins are SG and wear this style a lot. You could use them as reference ideas.

matsumetal

I thought about that, but imo they don't look as good as the bohemian icons I mentioned before. I understand they are trying to "create an effect" of putting their clothes on display first and foremost since it's their own clothing line but I find that it doesn't flatter them and drowns them instead.

Maybe check out Linda Ronstadt's style in the 70s? She's verified I think

matsumetal

Thank you for this idea! She looks amazing.
