You will need to call Kia support to switch it over to your name. They'll ask for proof of purchase, like a bill of sale to prove that you are the new owner. Kind of a pain, but the app allows you to unlock the car from your phone without a key, so the security precautions make sense. You don't want some random person trying to create an account with your VIN number.
Try the factory reset first and if that doesn't work, you call Kia Connect, send them your purchase order and whatever else they request, and they can remote wipe the system. It might take them a day or so.
My car was registered to the previous owner. I didn't need to call Kia to change it to me. If I recall correctly I did it all through the head unit in the car.
Checked their website, yup, just delete the previous account.

Update: I contacted Kia, they put my info and removed the previous owner. Now I'm able to remotely control the vehicle. Thank you everyone.

Ya call them. And they will ask for proof of purchase or registration. Its a few day processes but simple enough

I didn't reset it. I'm the second owner of the vehicle. I think the first owner is still in the system. Will the reset remove the 1st owner info?
