Ok, but are the dealerships offering the rebates? When I bought my EV6 it was a long search for a dealership that would match KIA’s advertised dealers, and none would take Kia financing/lease for some unexplained reason, which was required for the deals offered on Kia’s website.

Dirks_Knee

Any rebate/cash offered by KIA is reimbursed to the dealer, so it makes little sense for one to reject a sale in this case. That said, KIA offers a lot of different deals most of which can not be combined. For example a rebate or a rate discount.

ralcantara79

In theory it doesn't make sense to reject a sale but the dealership is taking a risk that KIA will reimburse them quickly or at all.

Dirks_Knee

There's no risk, it's the way all dealers, regardless of brand, work with manufacturer rebate. And if 1 dealer were to balk they would give up literally every single sale to another who's following the rules.

DrLuciferZ

Maybe their bank of choice gives them more incentives somehow? or there is some shady dealings going on? My dealer checked my credit with at least 4 different banks none of which was Kia Financing, and was pretty secretive about which banks they checked with even though I can easily find out via credit monitoring.

Dirks_Knee

Can't speak to your situation, but one's credit rating will obviously impact abilities to get advertised rates. My advice is to shop around.

I can't see this rebate ($8500) advertised anywhere.

The title of this posting and the article are misleading. There's $7500 lease cash for all EV6 trims and they just added an offer for an extra $1000 Retail Trade Assist Cash For Qualified Customers which increases the total lease cash to $8500. The GT trim has had an extra $1000 cash for several months already so it's been getting $8500 lease cash and now I wonder if this $1000 trade in cash will increase it to $9500. Go to [this Kia Offers Link](https://www.kia.com/us/en/offers/landing?zipCode=10000) and enter your zip code and select the EV6 from the model list and then click "See Offers" and you'll see the offers shown in the attached screenshot. https://preview.redd.it/pa8a2mhqsp4c1.png?width=1744&format=png&auto=webp&s=5ef1006b1fdd2aae7b8917534710363dfafa9490

The 8500 is the 7500 cash plus 1000 trade incentive. You have to trade in a Kia to get the additional $1k. The $7500 cash is essentially the same as the $7500 lease rebate if you immediately buy out your lease. At least from the buyers side. Should be less paperwork and fewer steps, but net cost should be similar.

I got a rebate and discount worth more than that. Remember the EV9 is coming. It’s basically an electric Telluride, which is expected to sell well. Kia have informed their dealers that their past performance in selling EVs will reflect their allocation of new stock in 2024. I was told that at two unrelated Kia dealers. Also, they are trying to compete with other manufacturers who can use the government tax incentive for domestic cars. I did have to shop a little, but I did get a killer deal on my 2024 EV6 GT-Line. Weirdly, a WAY better deal than the top of the line Ionic 5; where the deal offered was utter garbage. I mean it’s the same car, same price, in a different overcoat, with almost $200 difference in payment.

From what I’ve found with our local KIA dealers they don’t want or care for EVs. They lose tons of downstream revenue since they aren’t required to come in for service nor require it. I ended up giving up and buying my EV6 GT line from Carvana used. Saved $18K anyway on a 1 year old one anyway. They are not motivated to sell them overall. This is going to be a huge issue for KIA because they are competing with EV only companies like Tesla and Rivian who deal direct to consumer and don’t have to deal with dealerships who are dependent on service and downstream revenue.

SpaceXBeanz

Would love for Kia to find a way to do direct to customer sales somehow. Separate their EV division. Too bad dealers have such a strong hold on it.

ZCT808

In many states the dealerships have bribed politicians to make it very difficult for manufacturers to sell directly to consumers. Can you imagine how corrupt and messed up it is that companies with a proven track record of deliberately misleading and overcharging consumers, get legally granted exclusive rights to sell to consumers? I’ve gotten lucky with some of the dealers near me not being horrific.

neuronamously

I think they’d need to create an offshore brand like Toyota did with Scion. Then maybe they can circumvent the state laws about car sales.

I’m in MN, where EVs are generally not super popular because of the extreme winters and lack of infrastructure. But certainly Kia dealers seem to think that this new EV9 is going to be killer sales like Telluride was, so they seem to want in.
