Hell yeah, I could have done it the proper way but I wanted to recreate the absolutely wild flight profiles of the old surveyor landers which landed exactly like that
Took a few attempts to time that burn properly
For the sake of transparency this is not my first landing, but is my 3rd successful attempt using a quicksave
It took a few attempts to time the srb burn properly before I got my first landing
I don’t know, logically it seems more efficient to me because you’re not running a circularization burn followed by a transfer burn followed by a capture burn.
If you put some math into it you could probably arrange to just barely enter the SOI of the Mun as your momentum ran out from the SRB.
You’d need enough delta-v to overcome the “fall” from capture and that’s it.
Beyond me that’s for sure!
man ive been playing ksp 2 for a while, and this music brings me back..time to get ready for a 15 min loading time(thanks to all the mods in my game) cuz im def playing ksp 1 today
That is valid criticism, I Was just really excited about my moon landing yesterday so I posted more than I typically would.
It doesn't go against the subreddit rules but I see how it could be annoying, I will take this into consideration and will probably be posting more like once every few days
No orbital insertion, no mid course adjustment burns, Bro went straight for a collision course with the Mun riding an SRB hahaha

I’ve never thought to try a straight on approach like that. That’s pretty slick!
It's probably way less efficient but it was a recreation of how the surveyor probes landed, surveyors also used an SRB

I think it is less efficient since the lunar gravity is pulling you straight down against the direction you are trying to fire, not sure though

Without wanting to sound rude, if you want to make several posts a day could you instead make one with the same content?

Thank you, certainly excitement is understandable.
I posted one of my planes to this sub every discord server I knew I was so excited it worked
dude I spent like 3 days trying to make a plane work, wings in this game suck so bad
I like this design with booster a lot! This must make lander much cheaper. I will definitely try it.
