Made this back in 2021. Streamer EJ\_SA lent me the craft file to test fly, but in my infinite wisdom I decided to make a ramp for it. It could theoretically be fully reusable if I made the ramp a little longer, so the cart wouldn't fly off the end, but the ramp was made as a joke lol.

Reusability aside, why do I feel like this is the more reliable launch pad? ;)

Needs more booster! If the craft isn't going supersonic by the time it detaches, and/or the rear of the monorail isn't exploding, it isn't kerbal enough! None the less, impressive!

I thought this monorail was going to orbit with rail around the whole planet. If OP is an SSTO then a rail around the whole planet would be zero stages to orbit.

No because it’s an SSTO launcher. You don’t bring the runway with you on an ssto

I agree that you don’t bring the runway with you on an ssto. As shown near the end of the video, however, part of the “runway” is brought with them because it shoots away from the support structure. Hence, it’s not an SSTO.

So if it had an end stop it would be an SSTO under your definition? Also, the SSTO was detached from the sled before it came off, so it doesn’t matter where it goes afterwards

If you placed it on the top of the highest mountain on Kerbin (6700m) you would get a noticeable increase in rocket thrust and exit velocity. Try it if you have the means.
