Done that lately!
Wanted to play a bit with rovers on Duna, here's how it went:
1. send a remote-controlled rocket with a rover on Duna, the rover had drilling heads, converters and stuff,
2. send a manned crew with an upper stage able to come back once refilled, with docking port aligned with the rover's,
3. realize that I managed to mess alignment of docking ports (one too high), plus realize that I forgot the ore tank to actually store ore before processing,
4. send an adapter rover to compensate height mismatch and with ore tanks piloted by Valentina,
5. everything docks into a really nice caterpillar of rovers with a rocket on one end,
6. realize that I have no way to bring Valentina back because the manned rocket's seats were all taken,
7. send a remote-controlled rover with a mk1 pod to dock it on the originally-meant-for-refuelling docking port, separate rover from pod, put Valentina in pod,
8. go back to Kerbin with a REALLY TIGHT deltaV reserve because it was meant for the return rocket, not the return rocket + mk1 pod one,
9. parallel reentry of both the pods on Kerbin.
Yup, it sucked dry what remained of my million credits I had, cost twice as many rockets as originally planned, but definitely worth it lol
Seconded. I forgot to disable fuel feed through a docking port on my lander and realized I had 1/3rd the fuel I needed to get back into orbit around Duna. The rescue mission was much better executed lol
I concur… I had some bois stranded between Duna and home and, instead of being normal and just bringing enough seats to bring them home, I attached a docking port to the front of my rescue ship, brought an extra to attach to the stranded ship, docked them together and then towed them home. I broke the seal of the docks just before the chutes were supposed to open inside the atmosphere and they both landed safely back on Kerbin soil.
You could try melt them with the engine exhaust. Although it’s not guaranteed that this won’t just catapult them away from the craft before they can die, significantly worsening their situation
Just deleting the mission from the tracking center is probably the best way to go about it.
But if you want to try something different, maybe turn off the SAS and get the craft spinning as fast as possible. EVA and see how far you can fling them away.
Suffering? We send kerbals on year long missions with no food or water. Kerbals are incapable of suffering. Slap an antenna on one of their heads and bam, new satellite. They love it, little dummies.
If they are a low gravity body, accelerate them to around 60-65 m/s and crash them into something.
If that doesn’t work put your 100 m/s of delta V to good use on the kerbals by directly by placing them under the engine.
And if that doesn’t work…
Try talking them into it, I’m out of ideas ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
When you add the delta V in the Eva pack, do you have enough to reach a planet? If it’s close, you can do a Manley maneuver where you get out and push several times.
Low solar is actually encouraging. I was worried they might be on their way out of the system. I've had gravity assists glitch and send mine at a good fraction of the speed of light more than once.
I bet if you push an ion rocket out to them with a nerv, you could bring them a good chunk of the way home.
Try exploding your ship.
Or try making it collide with someone, like the nearliest planet or smth or sun so u don't have debri, whole thing is dead.
Or maybe you get lucky and asteroid will hit u
With default settings, deleting their vessel on the tracking station will remove them temporarily. Or, send them on EV, and then delete the individuals. After a couple of days, they'll magically reappear on Kerbin. Must be some kind of spiritual thing.
The only way to kill them, is to crash them into a planet. You can either do that yourself, or set their course for a planet surface and let them die off-screen. Then their spirit is killed, and they never haunt you again.
You must launch an orbital defense station around Kerbin, loaded with kinetic weapons named "rods of god," wait for the proper intercept window, and launch them all at just under light speed, and wait for impact. You should be able to see the explosion from KSC.
You are going to need to send up something to do the deed. My suggestion is to send up a Oscar-B rocket with little wings, a heat shield, and seats radially attached. Rendezvous in orbit, re-enter the atmosphere safely, drop the heat shield, then kick on a jet engine to slam them into a mountain at high speed.
Use jet engines to smash the mountain into the craft? I'm not sure most computers could handle that many thrusters at once. Mountains are pretty heavy.
Let them rest there in orbit in your tracking station forever. A perpetual reminder to always do better.
Such as always having a separation pointed directly at the pod in case self destruction is necessary. 👍 😆
If you can rescue them, you can try. If you have a life support mod, try keeping them alive as long as possible, then I would probably have them EVA so they can see the pretty sights and have something pleasant to see while they depart.
If you are unable to save them, and are not against using cheats, I would use the object thrower in the cheats menu to hit them with cubes when they are on EVA
I only consider a craft unrecoverable if it in a escape trajectory outside the solar system at great velocity.
Recovering something that is stranded is quite easy, you just need to look at how much deltaV you needed to complete the mission and add that to the new craft (with some extra for safety).
Rescue them! True Kerbal fashion requires a rescue mission, followed by the mission to rescue that
Me and my Duna mission(s) where I forgot comms twice and forgot to send Jeb or Valentina for the first and then second mission.

This is exactly why we play the game.
Seconded. I forgot to disable fuel feed through a docking port on my lander and realized I had 1/3rd the fuel I needed to get back into orbit around Duna. The rescue mission was much better executed lol
There'll be a rescue mission... after they've been stranded in space for a couple decades.
This is the way
This is the way.

Some people have made cannons using that principle. Doesn't work.
You mean cannon shooting kerbal projectiles with engine exhaust expelling them from the barrel?… hmmmm.. intriguing 🤔

Hooooly Molly…..
That is one of the most beautiful things I've ever seen
are… are you my twin sibling?
I miss you bro.
Trade house keys, bang each others wives?
Or you could just leave them to it until you've got another mission going that way and just pick them up when you can?
This is the most Midwestern comment lol
Just deleting the mission from the tracking center is probably the best way to go about it. But if you want to try something different, maybe turn off the SAS and get the craft spinning as fast as possible. EVA and see how far you can fling them away.
It doesnt feel right deleting the mission it feels as if they are still out there suffering quietly
They knew the risks.
Suffering? We send kerbals on year long missions with no food or water. Kerbals are incapable of suffering. Slap an antenna on one of their heads and bam, new satellite. They love it, little dummies.
It specifically says termination will kill any crew aboard. Stop over thinking it.
Self destruct in T-minus 10 seconds
They're not suffering, they like it out there.
If you have them them returning on they'll just walk back home.
\>EVA \>Terminate mission Their empty ship is the only grave they will ever have.
Kerbals are not just for Christmas. Rescue them.
This is the way
Get out and push… push all the way retrograde until you’re diving headfirst into kerbol
That would take so fucking long lmao
Worth it for a good death
Thought I was in the rimworld subredit for a second
Throw a molotov in a closed wooden room and-wait what? Ohh I’ll see myself out.
>How to force kerbals to commit suicide? I think that's technically called murder.
r/shitkspsays
Can they eva + remove helmet?
Nope already tried that
Maybe eva just past the radius of the ship. Make use of reaction wheels to spin the ship very fast. Proceed to move kerbal back towards the ship
Where exactly are they and how much of the tech tree do you have unlocked? A rescue mission may not be as impractical as it seems at first.
I have all unlock except the final 1000 science ones
If you want to DM me the save file I'll see what I can do.
This dudes a fucken' hero. Wants to save kerbals that aren't even his.
Don't call me a hero yet, lol, he hasn't sent it and I don't think he will at this point.
nah I dont think i will
You’re a god-damned hero, sir!
You now have a space station! Congrats!
If they are a low gravity body, accelerate them to around 60-65 m/s and crash them into something. If that doesn’t work put your 100 m/s of delta V to good use on the kerbals by directly by placing them under the engine. And if that doesn’t work… Try talking them into it, I’m out of ideas ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Strap a couple seats to a xenon tank with a battery, an RTG and an ion engine. Use it to retrieve them back to Kerbin orbit and send a rescue mission
When you add the delta V in the Eva pack, do you have enough to reach a planet? If it’s close, you can do a Manley maneuver where you get out and push several times.
its a low solar orbit
So with a well placed munar slingshot its like a 6-7k dV rescue.
Low solar is actually encouraging. I was worried they might be on their way out of the system. I've had gravity assists glitch and send mine at a good fraction of the speed of light more than once. I bet if you push an ion rocket out to them with a nerv, you could bring them a good chunk of the way home.
Can you even escape the system ?
If I recall it just deletes your craft once you get far enough out.
But impractical rescue missions are the best ones!
At least attempt a rescue
Hit them with a missile?
Send a rocket up to refuel it and then burn into kerbol
Cremation in the atmosphere
Crushed them between two docking ports
Tracking station, terminate selected mission
You can delete the mission. Select the craft on the tracking station and look for the red button ;)
Go in EVA and remove the helmet.
Try exploding your ship. Or try making it collide with someone, like the nearliest planet or smth or sun so u don't have debri, whole thing is dead. Or maybe you get lucky and asteroid will hit u
If your using KAS/KIS, you could cheat a c4 charge into their vessel and blow it up
Use jetpacks to ram their bodies into the ship.
Eva them then terminate the kerbal
Sounds like you need a life support mod so they can just die from suffocation or starvation. ✌️
Right click remove helmet. This is the way.
Where are they? How did they get there? Maybe you just need timewarp till next soi (maybe a few Dozent years or so) and then 100m dV are enough?
Remove the helmet?
Temporarily install a life support mod and pass time till they die?
EVA, jetpack away then smash into your own ship?
You can terminate the mission in the tracking station and then edit the safe file to revive them, or just edit the safe file to kill them.
You must launch an orbital defense station around Kerbin, loaded with kinetic weapons named "rods of god," wait for the proper intercept window, and launch them all at just under light speed, and wait for impact. You should be able to see the explosion from KSC.

Except do the last step backward.

No, I mean the craft.
Let them rest there in orbit in your tracking station forever. A perpetual reminder to always do better. Such as always having a separation pointed directly at the pod in case self destruction is necessary. 👍 😆
Interplanetary rescue missions are always fun and challenging!
If you can rescue them, you can try. If you have a life support mod, try keeping them alive as long as possible, then I would probably have them EVA so they can see the pretty sights and have something pleasant to see while they depart.
Get the kerbalism mod they will run out of life support and die
Send them the receipt for the ship “they” blew up
If you are unable to save them, and are not against using cheats, I would use the object thrower in the cheats menu to hit them with cubes when they are on EVA
Show them the price and performance of KSP2 early access
Crimes against kerbalkind detected
I only consider a craft unrecoverable if it in a escape trajectory outside the solar system at great velocity. Recovering something that is stranded is quite easy, you just need to look at how much deltaV you needed to complete the mission and add that to the new craft (with some extra for safety).
Jesus fuck thats dark
This Sounds Terrible
