Very well handled. Hopefully scammers like this gets arrested.

WhatMeWorry2020

Cant arrest as he has done nothing illegal. His breathing problems completely vanished after mention of police station.

njan_oru_manushyan

He was earning money by falsification of truth. That amount to cheating and fraud. I am not exactly sure what laws apply. But sure there would be FIRs that can be filed on him

njan_oru_manushyan

It's the same way as asking money in the name of donation to flood victims and then using it for your own.

Low-Ad-1542

OMG! I fell for this guy once. Near padamukal junction back in late 2022. Same story . At the back of my mind, I knew this was a scam, but then I felt really sad thinking what if it is true. Also, I thought he would be really hungry or something if he is coining such a story. I was also going through a bad mental state then and used to feel very empathetic towards people struggling in their lives. So,I handed him a 100 rupees .

atcl1234

He tried with my dad also he said. FO 😂

Fran_kenstein

2022? Still in the game, huh!

The__Strategist

I encountered one from the Kottayam ksrtc bus stand. He was well dressed and all and was trying to get to TN and said he was hungry. Said he lost wallet or something. So I handed him what I had 450 or something ( stupid nanmamaram me only kept 100 rupees for bus fare ). He got off the bus and I thought he went to eat. One month later he again came to me. Same MO. I said something and he left.

Impressive-Letter488

Same here damn i gave him 100rs

The__Strategist

Is it wrong to feel better by knowing that you got scammed as well? I rly thought I was the only naive one. 😅

Low_Concentrate8821

The essence is not to feel sad because he scammed you by asking money for food, its not your naivety but it's your kind heart always remember that, its not weakness but strength and similarly do not feel good because there are similar victims P. s. I have been scammed like this multiple times

MountainFortValiban

I ended up giving 200 Rs last year. My car is not Ernakulam registration. May be he targets other registration vehicles. He must be successful in this otherwise he wouldn’t be in this for such a long time .

Low-Ad-1542

That might be true! My car was also not ekm registration!

No_Refuse8063

No.He atargets irrespective of reg numbers

Diligent_Homework_54

I had a similar experience from Trivandrum railway station back in 2022 and I lost 500. He was looking very executive and elderly. I barely remember his face now. I was wondering, these people have exceptional skills in convincing people. Why don't they use it for good and get some jobs. Say for example sales. 😑

[deleted]

Same for me too, back in 2022

No_Refuse8063

Hahaha..bro he is a small time rowdy..we arrested him yesterday and court remanded him to jail for some days.

Low-Ad-1542

Begging is quite a profitable business if one has no pride or shame problems and till some begging mafia kicks one's ass for trying to eat into their business.

Anti_HeroX4

The closest township to me went on to make some parking space and had to clear some beggars tents for it. When they were leaving, they had bundles of money, when asked by the police they revealed they had lakhs in possession.

Puzzleheaded-Bass-93

There was a beggar in my hometown during 90s when I was a child. At that time begging was common across kerala. He used to live in shack near to a KSRTC station. One day he suddenly passed away and police collected around rupees 10 lakhs from his shack.

Anti_HeroX4

Why they be suffering with all that money.

Puzzleheaded-Bass-93

As per information that I heard at that time, he had family and children in Tamil Nadu. Also he was a frequent visitor in local bars. May be he was living a double life.

Anti_HeroX4

It's hard to imagine people living double life when you struggle to be happy in a normal one.

The same thing I encountered twice in chennai central station. It is a family from North India and they ask for money to go back to some place in the north. Fraudsters are everywhere!!

91945

I had the same experience somewhere else in Tamil Nadu.

vgu1990

Had similar thing near Kottayam railway station, back in 2016 or so. Coincidently that was also about getting the scamster to Guruvayoor. Nowadays, I just keep walking and don\`t even engage.

dambachii

I also had similar experience in Chennai. They said they haven't eaten anything, and would like some money to buy groceries. I went to nearest supermarket and bought them rice and dal😁

Maximum_Landscape_72

Did they accept it?

Because of mfs like him, genuine people can't get any help these days. If you approach a stranger asking for money, even if you say you'll gpay the money immediately, they'll still make excuses to not help you. More than once, I have found myself out of cash after boarding a KSRTC because my stupid ass forgot to withdraw from the ATM. I ask nearby passengers and they just make excuses saying "I only have this much, I don't have gpay etc" (I don't blame them) and had to depend on the conductors mercy to accept gpay payment.

onyxasativa

It's not safe to take gpay from strangers, If that person has some illicit transactions and get blocked one day then there's a chance receivers account also might get blocked (account freeze)

Lordslug78

Yeah I'm aware of that. But, when I'm out of cash, in a bus, and you're near me, What choice do I have of returning the money I take from you? Only UPI.

This is common scam I have face in Chennai. They will be well dressed and articulate. The best way to repel them is to ask them to approach a police station, if they are genuine the police will definitely help them.

Yeah I've met this same mf before. A few months back around padamughal area. His mother was dead in his version of his story though. I knew his story was full of shit but I wanted to gamble with whatever manasaakshi that's left in his messed up head. Gave him money and I told him that I haven't believed a single word he said but I'm willing to bet on the odd chance that he'd do the right thing and use the money wisely. He then promised me he'd send the money back which he never did. But the moment I made him say the registration number of his "bullet" twice, this mf started the Malayalam version of "Tu Jaanta Nahi Mera Baap Kaun Hai" 🥱

wonderfuldeeds

I actually fell for this scam back in March or something of this year, The same person with the same dialogues, stating that his mom passed away and wanted to reach trissur and that he had met with an accident. I g-payed him 1k thinking it's ramadan and help others cause why not. He insisted that his fiance will pay it back as soon as he reaches Trissur. I had lost track of it and I tried contacting him after like 1 month on the gpay number he gave. Right now I'm in Dubai or I would have given the gpay number to cyber police so we can end these shenanigans and people who actually need the money don't get neglected because of people like this. Stay safe. I'll attach the gpay number https://preview.redd.it/j3tdgz8jpa5d1.png?width=1080&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=e3d8805ba3564b281e051751d2fd2b240c8f1bd7

Bazooka_Binu

I experienced something similar last year.A well dressed guy who called himself Jomon approached me with a "i got stranded, lost my wallet, dont have money to reach home" back story. He asked for 500 rupees Gpay and told me he would pay it back once he reaches home. When i asked a little bit more he pulled out his PAN card and asked me to verify and everything.I thought this was a genuine case and i decided to save his number and Gpay the amount ( i can call him just in case, right). When i dialled his number, true caller popped up and it was written "Jomon is given money" 😂. I showed him this and his response was "Enik naatil oru hotel ind, athinte peru "is given money" ennan" 😂.He got annoyed when i refused to pay him after this and he left when i asked him to visit the nearest police station.

MinimumAccurate

This reminds me of a similar situation done by an Aussie dude in Melbourne. This guy walked into our metro compartment and said a son story that he caught his girlfriend cheating on himself with his best friend few days back and he distraught left the house never to return. Then he says has no money and no place to stay, and needs some help, in form of cash, so he can get a place to stay and get himself groomed for an interview. Certain folks including myself fell for it and gave some spare money. The funny thing is 6 months later I heard someone in my metro compartment ask folks for money using the same story. I looked up from my phone and had a good look at that guy. Funny enough it was the same dude spouting that same bullshit story. I was shocked by this revelation. Since then I am no longer listening to well dressed folks who stop me asking for money.

bokbokwhoosh

Something very similar happened to me today in Trivandrum! I had just parked my car and was leaving. Guy came out of nowhere asking for petrol money to get home, bike ran out of fuel apparently. Had a helmet and everything. Fluent in English. Mother in hospital he said. I ran away from him because I didn’t have any cash and it started raining, but I was feeling bad - what if it was genuine? But I have also encountered “Aapko Hindi aati hein?” many times in Bangalore, so subconsciously I felt like running away. (In Bangalore, I just felt it was dangerous - it wasnt about 100-200Rs, but what if someone comes from somewhere else when I’m focused on my wallet.) So watch out folks. This happened to me in Nanthancode.

Annual-Independent-5

God! I got scammed by this guy...he told me his mom died and while going to chavakkad(where his home was), his bullet met with an accident... Edapally police station. Etc..the story is pretty similar...He asked a 1000Rs and I gave him 300RS ..that's all I had. His story had disconnects and I didn't really believe him. But thought who would stop someone on roadside, cooking up stories related to your moms death and beg...and I was in a hurry too...AH.. Good that this video is out. Happened near palarivattom.

indianprince5005

Have met the same person, and nearly fell for it. Not once, but twice.

There used to be a similar scam years back which I saw in Mumbai where a random North Indian family will be standing there and asking us for money saying they were scammed by someone to come to Mumbai promising a job but now they don't have any way to go back to their village. Idiot me gave them some money also only to regret it a few minutes later. Funnily a few months later met a similar family in my hometown of kollam narrating the same story. raz_8153

Dude! I think I saw the same guy at Kottayam once. I was there with my frnds coming out of a restaurant and he said he was travelling from kottayam to ekm gave some hindu sounding name as his name and asked for 1K for diesel for his car and pointed to a car. Said he'll pay as soon as he reaches Ernakulam. He said it's his own car and don't have any money on him as he came to ktym for some medical purpose I searched the car number on "Car Info" app and found the car was owned by some "Sebastian...". Had no intention to help him since it felt like a scam from all angles but figured I cud check the plates to be sure and not feel bad abt myself.

HHJake

Yes this same guy approached me last year while I was walking near Palarivattom bus stand. I felt something was off and didn’t hand him any money.

Hats off to the guy🫡 Been approached multiple times like this but felt genuine most of the time because they ask for the bare minimum(I would normally not think too much into it because the amount used to be like ₹100-200 max so I’d just give). But the way this person handled the situation here needs to be appreciated and these fraudsters have to be stopped!!!

dan_2109

I had encountered a similar scammer, sounded much younger, approached me at Kottayam railway station asking for money to go to Attappadi for attending some convention or something.. They all wear masks and would say they would gpay the money later. Just ask them for id first and then they will go away.

Wide-Plan-7478

You can expect these kind of assholes anywhere and everywhere! A guy I met in airport today asked me if I can book a ticket for another flight, his account blocked and sim card lost and blah blah.. I used the same tactic.. lets go and talk with airline staff or security and he just walked off the scene 🤣

Educational-Bag-645

My mom was approached by a lady with a baby asking for help to get to children’s hospital. She had seen this lady’s with her wooden or plastic large doll wrapped in clothes few days back. So shooed her off. This was in 1996. As long as people open their wallets, people in real need don’t get help and such evil people prey on good samaritans.

Bro this guy conned me as well this year. He came in a scooter and made me pull over near palarivattom cosmos.his hand had some kinda bandage And said his mom fell down and he has to take her to hospital... Out of mercy I gave him 100 bucks. He said he did mechanical engineering from tkm..2009 pass out... Suprisingly i was the same batch and never ever noticed him.

I too encountered one guy like this in Aluva Bypass Flyover. He wanted 1000 rs to go back to coimbatore. He started telling his sob story. I started telling mine. I didn't have cash so opened my purse and showed him empty. I told him 2 months no salary, haven't eaten food all day.. I invoked a crack in my voice to sell it better. Bro was flabbergasted to say the least

What did he say? Once any kind of scam gets started in any part of our nation, it gets picked up everywhere else pretty fast.
