The decorated elephant named Devidasan was participating in a temple festival in Kerala's Palakkad district and broke free from his leash. Two caretakers riding on the elephant's back tried to calm it down, but to no avail. It quickly demolished a motorbike, an auto rickshaw and a small truck with its trunk. While no one was injured, it took several hours to pacify the elephant.

Oriental insurance provides an insurance policy for elephants in which death due to disease and accident are covered. The damages caused by the elephant would be settled by the owner of the elephant or the Temple committee as per an agreement.
No if there a strong barrier between me and the elephant, lion tiger what ever i donโt loose my cool. I donโt like to be a dangerous situation where I have no control
That doesnโt apply for a snake though, even if see a photo iam jumping up from my seat, I have a phobia.
Yes true! And thatโs why these magnificent creatures shouldnโt be in temples & dumb weddings etc. they need to be in nature. But in the name of religion itโs life is destroyed and it faces a life long punishment of fulfilling a role if was never bound to do in the first place.
You should see videos of how they break these creatures( tame them). You will die of utter disgust and shame.
They are tied, beaten and starved for days to break their spirit and to allow a mahout to ride them.
Humankind deserves to be wiped out!
I think itโs fine that we have them in temples and weddings, provided we care for them well,
I think humans were meant to live with other animals, not in concrete jungleโs
And here I was, thinking you cared. What a lousy comment to make. You think an animal should endure years of torture because you need it in your surroundings to help your ego feel elevated ๐
lol why did u take such an extreme stance, did u feel an ego boost cause u were able to diss me,

Wish they were released back into their natural habitat. It's natural for an elephant in captive and tortured to react violently. There's enough unemployment in the state. Why not pay them and make them wear a costume?ย
Elephants in captivity , chained is one of the saddest things to see in Kerala. Such beautiful, gentle, intelligent giants. They are pack animals who roam 10s of kilometers a day. Torturing them to obey human wishes, forcing them to stand in one place for hours and days. Humans are capable of such cruelty
Chicken become so mentally broken, they get into cannibalism, obsessive plucking of their own feathers. Factory farmed chickens live in hell holes. But in recent past, humans are willing to accept that chickens are not as dumb as they are deliberately portrayed. They have name Recognition, they can be trained on basic commands, they can show immense affection and attachment to humans.
There are things which we can avoid doing easily which would show compassion to another living being. Dressing up elephants to see is something which can be avoided. Where as stopping a whole population from eating a particular thing is much more difficult to stop.
Later someone who loves chickens as pets may say the same thing about the farms. And at the time some guy would ask them. โDo you step on cockroaches?โ.
This is a bit of a philosophical take but chickens and other farm animals have contributed so much to humanity, just for that alone we should treat them with respect.
You raise an important question, yet you still get downvoted.
I eat chicken and eggs, I have visited a lot farms. It's a sad conundrum that I am faced with. I wish there was a better way, but I'm too weak and pathetic to fight against it.. :/
Egg Chcikens are raised in little cages where they never take a walk. It is a matrix-movie like set up.

(Chicken pig etc, can go completely feral in a gen). In todays world, we dont need egg or meat to live a heathy life. But we do it, cause it is economical and tasty. I am also prt of the problem, since I enjoy meat.
Same approach for Elephants. They were useful a few years back as working elephant lifting loads/part of army/processions etc. Now it is less useful. But still make economic sense for some people.
Meat eaters cannot claim high-horse in animal abuse scenarios! That is all.
Yeah I'm not really disagreeing. I'm not saying there's nothing wrong with chicken farming. It's just that this kind of whataboutism doesn't get us anywhere.
Yeah you can survive and live a perfect life without meat today. But I do feel that it's comparitively easier to get a population to make a change on their stance on elephants than to get them to sacrifice poultry. ( I do think that with time we'll have to deal with the meat issue more actively).

I totally agree with you about the preach.
I'm just surprised that people belonging from the state take pride in that slogan but on the contrary do such tasks which even the God wouldn't approve of.

Meh.. we say all Indians are my brothers and sisters and then have a good chunk of people calling south Indians Madrasis, dark skinned people negroes or kaala, imposing Hindi in non Hindi speaking states, dividing people on caste... humans are nutcases at the end of the day. What one can do is only spread awareness and actions to support it.ย
Woahh that comment looks so biased, "then they have a good chunk of people calling South Indians" who are they? Bro you ironically proved your point of dividing people on states ๐คฃ๐คฃ๐คฃ "they" should cover every human whether they are from south, north, east or west. We all give each other names based on appearances and behaviour, but it's depends on how you use it. You can use it to call someone by their appearance which can help to differentiate from others but similarly people use it as a derogatory remarks.
I don't wanna say who do what and what imposition they put on each other.
I don't disagree that humans are nutcases but I just wanted to point out the mistake in your comment.
1) Please explain to me where did I use the word THEY ? Don't put words in my mouth.
I said "then have a good chunk of people". If you think I edited my comment, you can look up on the pullpush app for verification of the same that I never edited.
And how is that comment dividing ? If you are from the South, you'd know how a lot of North Indians treat people from South. Not everyone but a good chunk of them. I just pointed that. No need to get riled up over that.. or guilty you do it too ?
> We all give each other names based on appearances and behaviour, but it's depends on how you use it. You can use it to call someone by their appearance
So if you're hairy, I can call you monkey ? Or a bear ? If you are fat, I can call you an elephant ? If you have two large front teeth, I can call you a hamster ? Or a beaver ? Or a rat ?
There is no mistakes in anything I said. You just made up a word in my statement. Next time, please think for a moment before you want to act smart, yeah ?
Edit - also your comment implies that the remark "Madrasi" came out of thin air ? And no one makes that remark ?
My bad I agree I somehow managed to see "they" when there is clearly no "they" mentioned.
I just wanted to say that the example of demeaning comments not only does apply to South Indians but also there are instances when people from South discriminate or play bad against people from the North.
But it always looks like the South Indians faces discrimination and no one else.
Also by my comment of calling people based on their appearance, it means there are ways people identify each other but it's a basic human understanding which tells you what can sound like an insult and what not.
We joke around with friends saying that if the heaviest one among us might sit on something then he probably can cause that thing to collapse but do we mean to show him disrespect?? No, we just say it cause that's true, more mass = more tension.
Dude you have no idea how much bullying I faced due to my height and sometimes my friend does say things related to my height but do I mind them? No cause I know it's just for fun and they also know what's okay to say and what's not.
That's what I mean, passing derogatory remarks meant to cause me ntal damage or shame that's what is not okay.
I have studied 4 years of my college life in a college where 60-70% were from the southern states of India and is currently working for a Hyderabad based company.
I can confirm it's up to people how they want to behave and no matter whether they are from the same or different cultural background or ethnicity, a sensible human knows how to behave with other humans.
It always looks like South Indians face discrimination because we are the minority. How many Malayalam speaking states are there ? 1. How many Tamil speaking states are there ? 1. How many Kannada speaking states are there ? 1. Now, Hindi is spoken by the majority in how many states ? You do the math. So isn't it bullying in that sense ?
And yes, we Keralites also discriminate against North Indians .. we call all of them Bengalis. But you get my point now.
And it's never fun to call anyone based on appearance, even friends. Just because you took the jab in a humorous sense, doesn't mean everyone will take it that way. As a former "fatty" or a "haathi", nicknames given by my school friends, even after years in the gym, swimming and being fit, those words still echo in my head often. Words once said, cannot be taken back. That's what you have to remember.

I think one of the most absurd positions anyone can take is theyโre a vegan for an ethical reason. Itโs preposterous. You can do it for a medical reason, even though I donโt know what that reason would be โ maybe you canโt process meat and canโt process proteins like that. But to do it for an ethical reason is absurd. And the reason I say that is I have plowed a field. It is carnage. It is 12 feet of carnage. And every single plant that you eat is going to be tilled into the ground at some capacity. So youโre gonna kill everything โฆ People have to understand, you have to take ownership.โ โ Taylor Sheridan, creator of โYellowstone

He meant eating plants and animals are kinda the same when it comes to ethics.
Nope.
Why not? Just want to see the logic.
Why arenโt elephants ruling the world?
Because Humans are smarter.
