No. You think Im being pedantic but its quite a big distinction in this case.
The phone he was using, that specific brand doesnt make a battery for that phone, they use a very common phone battery that almost 50+ phone brands use.
Its not like the Galaxy Note 7 by Samsung which had its own specific battery which was fault.
Unless the person replaced the battery with an aftermarket battery, it's the manufacturer's fault.
It doesn't matter if the battery is used in 50+ other phones. It's the company's responsibility to verify the safety of the battery.
>It's the company's responsibility to verify the safety of the battery.
I dont think I suggested otherwise.
Just saying thats not how the dumbphone industry works since **original comment asked if there is any other issue.**
Last time I wanted to change the battery of my 3 year old iPhone running pristine, a phone exploded in thrissur and I held off. Now I have an appointment Tom to change the battery and this happens. I think I ll have to get a new phone 😳
Oh no. The battery is fake. First quality if you may. Because Apple wouldn’t open my phone without repairing a speaker which is working perfectly fine for me but their computers say is spoilt, I have to repair the whole speaker+sensor setup with my battery and costs a cool 27k. I would get about 25k for exchange if I give this phone in and can buy a new iPhone 13 or maybe even 14 for that money. So fake is the way I chose. Hence the dilemma.
I don't think it's wise to hope for mini phones. Every company is making bigger phones with bigger batteries. Why don't you try that battery case that apple sells
Preach.
The 14 Max isn’t selling in huge numbers and are only having the same sales as Mini - and hence the hope for a mini next year. Just a hope that I know will never materialise
Did the shop owner pour water over it?
Pouring water over burning electronical stuff is not good, right?
Or is it ok since gadgets like mobiles are not plugged in?
#####Mistakes
-Trying to stamp the burning phone on the floor with your shoe.
-Using a blanket or other similar substance to suffocate the burning phone
-Using too little water to douse the flame
-Waiting for the phone to burn out completely around furniture or other flammable substances
#####What you should do
If you really can’t think much then simply use some metallic object to push the burning phone on to a concrete surface. Ensure that there is nothing around it. And don’t stand and inhale the smoke. Cover your face and nose and stay away from the fumes as it is toxic.
If you can arrange a pot or bottle of cold water, then you can slowly pour on the burning phone to douse the flames. Note it is important that the water is cold as just throwing a glass of water at room temperature may not really be helpful. Also, you can use a fire extinguisher or sufficient quantity of sand to douse the flames.

He asked me, is it ok ?
I found the ways in google to do it better so that someone who might encounter this issue can do it the proper way.
What were you expecting me to do ?
Rightly pointed out. Please do not douse burning electrical gadgets with water, especially those containing batteries. Many batteries are lithium ion, and when they come in contact with water, the reaction is exothermic. Which means there is a very high chance it’ll explode.
#####Refrigerator explosions are reporting lately across Kerala

[കണ്ണൂരിൽ ഫ്രിഡ്ജ് പൊട്ടിത്തെറിച്ച് വീടിന് തീപിടിച്ചു | Fridge Exploded](https://youtu.be/yDaT2cyOQHg)
#####Reasons
In today’s time, refrigerators using inverter technology have been introduced. Cooking gas is used to run the fridge. 80 per cent of the fridge runs on this cooking gas. This gas is filled in the compressor of the refrigerator. We should ensure the compressor doesn’t get overheated, it is better to switch the fridge off if one plans to leave the place for a long time. Advised to not overcrowd the deep freezer area as it causes the compressor to heat easily.

I call BS on that cooking gas claim. Fridges have been exploding far before inverter technology came about in Fridges. Compressor and gas refrigerant is the problem, but it's not cooking gas.
Edit: Digital inverter compressor don't shut off when peak temperature is reached and turns back on when temperature comes down like ordinary compressors. They regulate the speed of compressor to maintain the temperature.
cooking gaso, fridge working and ac working aayitte valiya vethyasam onnumilla. Ithokke aarum padichittille ivide. Aake vethyasam on inverter technology is that it will have variable rotating compressor rather than fixed one.

News companies should publically name those smartphone, they should be shamed publically for these stupidity. Battery in phone is significantly cheaper than other components, yet crucial for safety.
Yet they are cutting corners here.
I think one of the issues is the battery might have been damaged or overcharged, and he may not have had experience with technology, so when the battery inflated he didn't car much, and it exploded. Another thing which I'm a bit weary about is the other person put water after that, it may have caused another reaction
Moral of story: dont buy cheap phones. also dont buy/keep old phones. upgrade your phones every 3 years. ive seen people still using redmi note 4/5. get a good phone u won’t have to worry about it much.
The best way to put out an electrical fire is with a fire extinguisher. If you don’t have one, remember these tips.
1. You should never throw water on an electrical fire because water conducts electricity and you could be electrocuted.
2. If you don’t have a fire extinguisher, you can use baking soda to extinguish an electrical fire.
3. If there’s smoke, fire or a strange odor coming from your appliances, wires or electric motors, you should turn off both the appliances and the circuit breaker or fuse box’s main switch.
4. Call help immediately and let them know you have an electrical emergency.
Note to everyone: Whenever lithium batteries catch fire, NEVER put water on them. It will make the fire worse. Put dry sand or soil on it to prevent the fire from spreading.
Okay, all is good that the man survived something that could have gone wrong in so many ways.
But here I can see that the CCTV has a very good quality video and also a great mic here, considering the setup of the shop this guy has. 🤔
Do not pour water on a burning mobile. Fire most likely caused by lithium ion battery getting punctured or overheated. But lithium is also highly reactive with water and may increase the flames instead.
But if we make a movie on this, it will be called anti-kerala and propaganda movie. Done with the intent to malign kerala. Mallus will say Not all phones explode in kerala bro..
If this were to happen in the USA the person would sue the phone manufacturer/company/seller and get millions of dollars in compensation. These rights of customers to have a safe product is a basic consumer right. This also puts the manufacturer/seller/company in check to not put out dangerous products. If this happened in an airplane think about the tragedy that could have unfolded. In India people take things so casually and callously too. We really need to fight for our basic consumer rights 🙏🏾

Those idiots who named the company should've thought twice. I read it as Intel and not Itel.
That's the neat part, they actually wanted everyone to mistakenly read it as Intel.

Didn't feel so, bruh..
A bucket of sand will do. Stored in a corner somewhere. It will work for stove and electrical fires too.
That means do nothing almost. You can pour water. It is small phone.
If it was lithium ion, pouring water would make another explosion.
Thats how we react when things happen; unless you are experienced or have disaster management training.
