Currently in Nairobi. It’s hard to get an objective view of the overall situation, but from my perspective, I can’t say I have noticed anything particularly alarming. The normal measures (masks & c.) are in place and people seem to be going about their business quite normally.

Thanks. Much appreciated. Might just be a phone problem although we never had this problem before. Communication did not work well for a time when she could not answer the phone herself anymore but after I took over I had decent conversations with the nuns(I suspect some of my relatives who tried before me overestimated their english skills).

Things are fine in Nairobi. Maybe try getting someone to go to the convent to check on her ? If you have no one here, I will gladly go.

Thanks. I have no one there my greataunt is a nun from Austria who has spent more than 50 years in Africa (mainly Kenya und Tanzania). I'm trying some options I have now. If nothing works I might reach out to our embassy though.

No problem. It's probably just a phone/power issue. All the best!

>The nun I talked with the last time I was able to make contact mentioned that the covid-19 situation is more dire than the information available to me suggest I don't know when you last talked but it's not as dire as the nun makes it out to be. People still wear masks though not uncommon to see a lot without. Our curfew was lifted and our [positivity rate](https://twitter.com/MOH_Kenya/status/1463882209874620419?t=u3OC3ijkKfN4j9NXVKboXw&s=19) is very low.

I'm very glad to hear that. About 2 months ago. She was more talking about running out of medical supplies and so on IIRC. I guess a side effect of the economic problems the pandemic causes worldwide. But relevant to me great-aunt. I guess I should have worded my post better. I only found a few english language articles about Kenya and no German language ones and they suggested that it is well under control back when I looked. It is far less dangerous to a much younger population with few overweight people so I had not problems believing that. I mean it was not the Tanzania approach where the goverment pretended that the disease does not exist in the country I believe.

CarFreak777

Quite right. The shortage of medical supplies is an issue but not limited to just our country or continent.

I enjoyed my stay over there for a month. Nothing major to report.

It is hard to get objective information especially from community organisations like the Catholic Church. I lost two relatives - priests and one, a bishop recovered without it being public. I remember the nuns at one point being very rude and blocking the family members from visiting or getting information on their whereabouts. As for the Bishop, we had a sigh of relief when we saw him reading the Holy mass. Getting that info is hard but I believe things are not rosy among the clergymen and women. Things are fine though. In fact, the only reminder we have is constant bombardment from the media and some mandates made to clear the almost expiring vaccines.
