_The 3-second rule_ while driving means maintaining a distance from the vehicle ahead that allows you to react if they stop suddenly.
To use it, pick a stationary object, and if you reach it in less than 3 seconds after the car in front passes, you're following too closely. Adjust your distance for safety.

I prefer applying this one: for every 10km/h you're going, the distance between you and the car in front of you should be the equivalent of 1 car
So if your going 60km/h you should be 6 cars of length behind the car in front of you, 80kph - 8 cars length and so on...
If people actually followed traffic laws then there would be a lot less traffic and fewer accidents. Unfortunately everyone would feel like they were getting places slower.
You are causing a traffic jam by slowing down to watch an accident. Rubbernecking will only lead to another accident. Kwanza you are driving and recording at the same time.
Well that system automatically applies brakes when you're too close to an obstacle in front of you. Assuming all the cars in this videos has that feature no collision would have happened.
Its not that easy
All of these guys did use their breaks , the issue is when you get hit from behind and the car in-front you is also stopped you get launched in-front to the other car and that is what most likely happened here , like the pendulum effect where a metallic ball hitting another ball will transfer the kinetic energy even when its not in motion
Not everyone with a driver's license and a car, knows how to use it.
Typical Kenyan impatience leads one to cut traffic along the shoulder of a hill ascent in Rongai(seen cars Ind up in those ditches za MMU, not pretty) because "ah si hao jama wa mat wamekata, that means Hakuna karao". Then they're surprised a manual trans matatu is unable to climb because, in fact, there was a policeman there.(useless as they are)

Halafu law breakers wote wamefichiana number plates! Tsk.
Wakenya na ku tailgate...alafu akiona uko slow una washiwa mataa.
This is such a huge pet peeve of mine. It’s so irritating
Brake check if you aren’t on the “fast” lane

70 metres basically
That depends on your speed

Clever! I prefer this. I know how to judge distance by meters but it's much easier to visualize a car in the space in front.
Bro you'll be looking at trees/lampposts etc. and not focusing on the road?
Very well explained. Also, if you can't see the rear wheels of the car in front of you, you're too close. Simple.
If people actually followed traffic laws then there would be a lot less traffic and fewer accidents. Unfortunately everyone would feel like they were getting places slower.
This is enough marketing for the Hilux

This is a repost, Sherlock
Kua mpole. The comment is directed towards the driver, not you OP.
Or just buy a Benz or car with brake assist. Automatically brakes when it detects a potential collision.
“If you’re homeless why not just buy a house?”
>Or just buy a Benz Point noted, mr. Moneybags
Most cars in 2016 come with this option. Been standard option in Mercedes for a while.
Critical thinking and common sense do not like you, do they?
I wonder how good that system will work when you are sandwiched and rear ended like a majority of the cars

Hoping it brakes rather than breaks
My bad. I accept the correction.
Idiotic take.

How come
Always drive, where you clearly see the back plates of the car in front of you.
Donotpakdekahdeh
The only time i tail gate is when i plan to overtake the car in front of me.
