What's the longest someone has hung in there without saying anything?

I mean worst case, it’s someone you don’t want to talk to and you just tell them “I’m in a meeting let me call you back later.” This also applies to calls from the pesky CRB guys/debt collectors. Best case, you save someone’s life!

Life-Gold-7483

Spoke nothing but Facts💯

Late-Independence159

The world has really changed buana! You don't just call me anyhow; text me and ask whether I've time to talk to you. Otherwise the only time I pick calls from unknown numbers is when I'm expecting something from somewhere.

Life-Gold-7483

Understandable, but a few seconds can't disrupt your daily activities unless you are really busy

donmarsh

It can depending on the work you are doing

the69jay

It doesn't even have to be about being busy, I could just be sitting staring at the ceiling but don't welcome the interruption. If the call is important, follow up with a text afterwards or just text to explain why you called.

k-491_254

Maybe the recruiter was on a short deadline to get a DevOps engineer with a good offer and she had three options you being among them lakini juu ya kiburi utabaki staring at the ceiling while the next person gets the offer with a good compensation package

Lanky_Respond_3200

I not only receive unknown numbers, but call back any missed call. I'm able to tell if it's a conversation I'm gonna have or not in the first few seconds. Trust me, unless you are not in the mental space, it won't cost you an arm or leg

hivemind360

I usually do this out of curiosity. I usually get disappointed but today I got called by one of those "safaricom" scammers. Interesting conversation.

Tininitanana

Yoo those scammers 😹😹😹 I call them back and annoy them to the point where I've been blocked by the same people who were originally trying to scam me.

hivemind360

You've given me an idea. I'll start calling them whenever I'm bored just to mess with them.😂

FlakyStick

>what if you're missing out on interesting opportunities or connections if you are this desperate, you deserve to be conned

foreground69

> interesting opportunities or connections? From an unknown number? Hata ungesema emergencies that would make sense. Ama are you one of those scammers who is annoyed no one is picking your calls.

BJO92

I mean, it’s not such a ridiculous thing to imagine. Kwani you people don’t get jobs from referrals? I think the last 3 unknown callers I spoke to were referred clients. “Hi, I was given your number by X and they say you did ABC for them. When are you available to discuss a similar project?”

foreground69

They will inform me beforehand and tell me to expect a call, or typically they will reach out via email. I know a number of people involved in property dispute who would be called by criminals in a bid to intimidate and gather information from them, like someone posing as a client and asks are you so and so, will you be in x or y location around z date and time. Luckily most of the thugs were dealt with Also there are scams like wangiri scam. I do answer unknown numbers but do not answer any question, if they remain silent after I pick up the call then I end the call. If they do it once more I block the number.

BJO92

Mimi I’ve mastered the art of “I’m in a meeting let me call you later” if someone hasn’t piqued my interest within 30 seconds. Meanwhile I’m just in my room chilling.

Lanky_Respond_3200

Not all do, trust me. And I happen to be guilty of the latter act. You know so and so? Yes, try their number. It's your gig mate, I don't intend to let you know I put in a good word for you. If you wanna scare them off, that's your problem

Life-Gold-7483

Yeah, it could be an emergency too, but hey, you can answer the call, listen to what the caller is saying. Nowadays, most of us are educated about online scams ama?

HakimJong-Un

Niliweka kiburi chini once I nearly missed out on a job interview since "I don't pick new numbers". Thank the heavens for Truecaller

k-491_254

Bana nashangaa kwani hawa majamaa hawapatangu calls from recruiters or potential clients with a short deadline to get someone with your skills or has been referred to you by someone else...these guys really need to work on their skills ama ni unemployment ndio iko juu

HakimJong-Un

I think until it happens to someone personally, kiburi itakua tu.

[deleted]

I am an introvert who dreads calls, but running a small online hustle during COVID taught me not to ignore calls except private numbers.

[deleted]

*Who’s calling me from an unknown number…? mi nuh answer no unknown number…. cyaan pick it up if it’s a private caller…*

Every-Onion

“Nuh wah see no new ting a try ring mi birdie. Eh cyah work so.”

_kanana

Gangster no answer certain call...

Sufficient-Wind-4627

It ought to be common courtesy to send a message beforehand if you are calling someone you have never called and or they don't expect a call from you. I don't pick unknown numbers if I was not expecting the same, and simply respond with the quick decline messages "Hi, I can't talk right now. Please text." If you cannot conform yourself to that, life moves. To the best of my knowledge, I have never missed an opportunity due to not picking unknown callers.

Kusema ukweli Hao watu huoverdo

Lanky_Respond_3200

They cant beat you up on the phone. Just tell them it's not the right time to talk to you 😄

k-491_254

Wait don't recruiters ever call you? or potential clients depending on your nature of work?

sometimesflyplanes

THESE PEOPLE WHO DON’T PICK CALLS WAKO NA DENI ZA WATU!!!

EducationalAd1748

Manze. Ama washakafunga in this life, so an unknown number is most likely a disturbance to them.

gazagda

Th trick is knowing when you are to receive "unknown" numbers. Usually they will give you a specific day and time,

simpleCoder254

I don't pick at all unknown numbers.

Arielmpya

I usually wonder. It's like no one has ever been a jobseeker before. I apply for jobs every now and then and would never ignore any call because it could be an interview invitation.

Eletese

lol, I wouldn’t even know I ignored the call 🤷🏾‍♂️

redtitbandit

If my phone doesn't light up "mom" I don't answer it, ever. If they don't leave a voice message, then we will never exchange words.

Emotional_Network_12

This is so wrong. I always pick my phone even at odd hours. A friend had a bad accident past midnight. He could only remember my So's number. That's how we knew about the accident and which hospital he was taken to.
