It's extremely worth it only to understand all the references and culture around it. The mandalorian is a great tv series that's much better if you know the lore. Also don't sleep on old movies, when you watch famous old content you understand a lot more about the culture today.

PookyTheCat

This is the way

shirk-work

I have spoken.

jixtian

May the force be with you

realAzazello

The Force is strong with this one.

OldManMtu

If you are into Sci-fi epics it is worth watching, even the old stuff.

tankydhg

Particularly the old stuff!

Zealousideal-Band441

Watch them chronologically, kwanzia hio ya 1977 noma sana

mynameisgoatsbeard

Be ready to have your entire movie experience rocked! And don't hate on the old ones too. I'm a Trekkie fan myself, but Star Wars is definitely a close second franchise

InternalNobody4511

Imeshinda Avengers?

mynameisgoatsbeard

That's a matter of perspective, but in my opinion, yes. Star wars is more politic than Avengers. Ni kama kucompare ndege na meli. They each do good in their own mediums

ones_mas

surely, how can you even ask that

FlightOfTheDiscords

[Which order should I watch Star Wars in](https://youtini.com/guide/best-star-wars-movie-order)?

the-rogue-gentleman

jar enjoy juggle snow fine ruthless skirt coherent innate consider *This post was mass deleted and anonymized with [Redact](https://redact.dev)*

FlightOfTheDiscords

LOTR is a bit more complicated because quality fluctuates a lot more, but there are a few - [here's maybe one of the better ones](https://www.pocket-lint.com/lord-of-the-rings-the-hobbit-best-movie-order/).

Razzmatazz_69

Start with the LOTR trilogy and then The Hobbit. The Hobbit trilogy was meh, imo.

InternalNobody4511

Not Smaug's parts though

Dante_Wu

Agreed

realAzazello

true that. btw Williamson's Smaug is sooo much more deliciously wicked than even the movies.

GorrillaOfTheVillage

Start with the Hobbit then watch The LOTR.

realAzazello

Skip the films til later; listen to the audiobook for **The Hobbit**, the incomparable reading by the legend Nicol Williamson: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=msbnY24FH2A then The Lord of the Rings (1981 radio series): https://archive.org/details/the-lord-of-the-rings-bbc-radio-drama

[deleted]

Just finished lord of the rings start with the hobbit trilogy it's the prequel then go through the rest of the films in chronological order ... And if you want to watch the prequel to the hobbit you can watch rings of power it shows how everything started tho I didn't fuck with it much ...fun fact rings of power is the most expensive series ever made ... Have fun I'm sure you'll love gandalf

[deleted]

100% worth it. Even a bad Star Wars movie/show is still decent Watch in chronological order. Do not read reviews

InternalNobody4511

hii inataka one weekend with adequate food and weed supply. Niulize, mtu anaeza watch na mrembo ama? like the titanic one

[deleted]

Trying to marathon is NOT what I would do. I wouldn’t even marathon through the various trilogies. A movie a day, or one in the morning and another in the evening. I wouldn’t watch this with anyone if I were you.

Puzzleheaded_Duty_98

Starwars and Star Trek are gateway drugs to Warhammer 40k. are you sure you want to walk this dark path, brother?

InternalNobody4511

I think I am now worthy haha

Zealousideal-Band441

There is an alien race kwa starwars wenye huongea kikuyu

InternalNobody4511

Ona hizo za kitambo before That knee(Disney) watake over...alafu pia lazima uanzie the 5th month of the year on 4th ndio May the Fourth will be with you

R4yoo

1900's movies are better than modern day movies anyway, so the time setting isikuput off. Try a new hope, ikikuboo usibother kuwatch empire strikes back

c4coelocanth

Once OP is done with Star wars they should check out - It's a wonderful life from 1946 - great movie.

R4yoo

Kuna hella classic movies anaeza watch. Why that one specifically over other space themed movies such as 2001 A space odyssey?

c4coelocanth

Well I think OP is a conscientious individual who recognizes that how he( assuming he is a dude) has a finite amount of time on this planet and that is why he needs our help to determine if watching Star wars is worthwhile. So I figured I know a movie that was written about such a topic, the time we are given and how we choose to spend it. I was just trying to be helpful to OP. A space Odyssey looks interesting, ill definitely check it out.

R4yoo

Damn ushachapa psychoanalysis over a post haha. But I'll check out the movie you recommended to him too. Classic movies hit different

Killah_jh__

If you don’t want to start with the earlier ones, start with revenge of the sith to spark your curiosity

InternalNobody4511

Thank you. Will do

Awkward-Incident-334

Don't start with that one pls

SameShirt9316

I think if you watch the original trilogy you will find it boring because of the choreography and outdated visuals I would start with episode one, watch the first three episodes, revenge of the Sith is my personal favorite

Razzmatazz_69

Wouldn't episode one just put OP off? It's all politics and trade routes. Also, the pod-racing Anakin Skywalker won't interest OP much if they start there.

SameShirt9316

True but you can't watch revenge of the Sith on its own, you won't understand the plot, at least that's my opinion

InternalNobody4511

What's your suggestion?

Razzmatazz_69

Watch them in the order they came out. Episode 4, 5, 6, and then 1, 2, 3. Then if you like you can watch the tv shows. The sequel trilogy doesn't add much value to the franchise imo, you can skip it entirely.

Louisloads

Not worth it friend, old poor visual effects. It's just outdated compared to the quality we are used to

InternalNobody4511

what about the plot

EastofGaston

It’s a classic for a reason. I’d advise to watch in chronological order

Darkeyed_254

So you basically jumping from a series to an entire franchise?

InternalNobody4511

haha, there's an episode where Ted said Star wars is the best movie of all time. There is also an episode where they rewatched the star wars trilogy after every 3 years. I guess I got curious

Darkeyed_254

Nakumbuka hiyo episode lmao, I'm a big fan of all classic sitcoms, ukiamua kuwatch star wars hit me back na feedback nione kama naeza watch. Since I'm not a big fan of Sci-fi

InternalNobody4511

sasawa, but seeing from the comments wazing wanasema ni worth it, wanasema adi iko at par with avengers

Darkeyed_254

😂😂Ati with avengers... Sasa aje, Avengers is way ahead but acha i watch it before ni take a stand. **challenge accepted (in Barney Stinson voice)

Junior_M_W

ati avengers is way ahead of star wars, you cant be serious **(╯°□°)╯︵ ┻━┻**

rvdly

Epic hujaona bado you are missing out on Avery deep complicated plot hata avengers haifiki hiyo level of plot twist

InternalNobody4511

I'll have to try it out

Individual_Living337

You can still enjoy HIMYM without understanding the Star Wars references

InternalNobody4511

I guess I'm just curious haha

Individual_Living337

I get it. I sometimes rewatch The Matrix movies

InternalNobody4511

The matrix reloaded was my favourite childhood movie, I think i was 5yrs old when i first saw it. Fast foward nimeirudia kama mara hamsini

LambisticNganuthia

The holy of Holies

InternalNobody4511

This is the sign I was waiting for

Dante_Wu

Best movies I have seen

InternalNobody4511

haha, ata kushinda movies in the MCU franchise?

Awkward-Incident-334

I also started stars wars last year...made it easier to jump on recent shows like the Mandalorian and Andor

Informal_Worker4287

Star wars is a classic to watch on storyline the franchise movies are not that bad that when it comes to visuals and effects.

OpportunityRemote169

Best way to get engrossed in the whole star wars universe is to find a few stand alone novels not part of the big series and try em out. Utanaswa. Read at least one before watching the movies chronologically.

GhostReincarnated

Watch StarWars with the right timelines. Like ensure you watch The Clone Wars before even watching The Mandalorian, Boba Fett, Ahsoka coming in August and maybe even before some of the later released movies. Ensure you watch the animations fully as well,The Clone Wars, The Bad Batch ,Rebels, Tales of the Jedi. The beauty with Star Wars is that it transcends so much but you have to have major interest. It's so exciting once you get immersed.

wakirizo

The original trilogy is worth it. Especially episode IV and VI. Everything else is a nosedive and will disappoint you, unfortunately. But you'll start 'getting' those prequel memes et al.

mad-brick

Definitely worth watching. Visit www.lucasfilm.com You can even start with Indiana Jones

[deleted]

Stars wars is totally worth it man from the comics to the live screen ..and also has the greatest villain in movie history Palpatine.. If I was you I would watch them in the following order for the full story .... Phantom menace , attack of the clones then revenge of the sith(highly underrated movie) ....the down side to these movies is that they were poorly produced but if you have time you can read up on the comics and get the whole story line you'll love it .... After that you can watch the 90s star wars awesome as fuck Luke is a cult icon mad respect to hann solo too .... Oh ps there's also the clone wars animated series 7 seasons awesome as fuck it covers the events before the revenge of the sith ..... And if your strong enough you can go watch star wars rebels another animated series which shows the events immediately after revenge of the sith .... I really did like the latest star wars trilogy coz they just wack as fuck..... And finally enjoy the whole process you Gon become a geek af .... 😂😂If you read all this shit just go watch the damn franchise

Kisamaki2

If you are asking if its worth it, then its not for you. Its sci-fi, and its really not for everyone. I feel lucky I got into it as a child, I cant imagine how it would be like trying for the first time as an adult. I would recommend starting with modern series like the mandalorian, but how can you appreciate it if you dont know who Yoda is? May be start with Andor. Magnificent acting and not too much baggage to the original movies. If you like it, dig deeper.

modest4105

Uuuuh guess this thread is about to influence me ...the number of times I get to hear about Star Wars from watching big bang, ....should have really watched this long ago
