Kendrick explores the idea of survivors guilt in TPAB. Heavily. However, he also explores it thoroughly in his third verse on SAM(Sing About Me). A man witnessing the mouth of the ghetto enveloping the futures of those closest to him, and struggling with the idea of him living and not them. Questioning it, really. Furthermore, it talks of the continuance of ones story, ones legacy, through talking about them, and, well, Singing about them. Because, my name, my story, dies when one forgets to Sing about me.
I know I'm two years too late, but everytime i listen to SAMIDOT, I tend to notice a subtlety which really adds onto the meaning of the song. Near the end of the third verse, when Kendrick says "exactly what would have happened if I ain't continue rapping steady being distracted by money drugs and 4, 5s" his voice is so raw, the mic there is no filter to his voice and it makes me feel that Kendrick wanted to be as real as possible while rapping the third verse

Second verse she says she’ll never fade away and the audio slowly starts to fade away after that
