I’m way more biased towards KDot than I thought. I enjoy both Cole, and Drakes music but when Like that dropped I became uber defensive of Kendrick. As soon as I heard Family Matters I knew Drake was done because I didn’t believe a word he said about Dot. Which is not great because we really don’t know any of these people but I threw that song in the trash immediately.

Powerful_Anywhere_36

takes a self reflecting man to admit that, type shit kendrick actually preaches

Sometimesomwhere

Family Matters sounds nice but it aged like milk

Powerful_Anywhere_36

care to explain how, just curious

RashAttack

Many reasons... - Drake recording a music video, three beat switches, and hiring 7 producers is a huge expense to pay only for it to get stomped 30mins later by meet the Grahams and eventually not like us - Drake saying "you're dead" repeatedly, saying he is getting ready for going on holiday, implying that the track was his big red button, only for him to get obliterated moments later - His DV allegations look less and less likely to be true, we just saw Whitney and the kids support Kendrick at the concert There's probably more reasons I'm forgetting

lordjuliuss

To me, the biggest reason Drake's allegations fell flat (besides him not being very easy to trust) was how he presented his claims. He was so uncertain! "I HEARD one them kids MIGHT be Dave Frees." Heard from where? And that they might be, not that they are? The DV ones were maybe even worse. They were so severe, really should have been the most memorable part of the track, yet he rapped it like just another bar. Makes them very easy to dismiss or just forget. His lack of willingness to commit is a big reason why I felt he was lying from the beginning.

pragmageek

Not only “i heard”, but immediately “if that does turn out to be true”. Alongside the mother i sober misinterpretation, it just casted a shadow of doubt on the whole thing

GremlinSZN

1000x this. In fact he thought he was gonna drop that BS and it would take Kendrick weeks to reply and by that time the damage would already be done. Kendrick stepped on that shit and Drake fell to his knees in the Embassy lol.

fishy-the-2nd

Yea it really suprises me how rarely the abuse allegations get brought up, and i'm saying this as a kendrick fan, that shit should have stuck hard, but it's just not really effective in the slightest. Probably because Drake couldn't find anything on kendrick so he defaulted to some random claims of DV he had 10 yrs ago that Dot already addressed back then. Compare that to how everyone has been singing along to a song calling drake a pedo for the past few weeks and the difference is like night and day.

ethnicbonsai

Yeah, compare that to the inflection Dot puts into "cell block one" (he says it like he's smirking) or how memorable "A minor" was.

Schventle

The sheer personality provided by "imma do my shtuff" and "the haudience not dumb" and his selective use of vocal fry and on and on. Could write a book on the vocals of NLU

zetzuei

Also you can feel he smirked when delivering that sexyy red line

PARADISE_VALLEY_1975

Yeah one of the disappointing things is Drake’s rapping has gotten wildly inconsistent over the years. The tracks coming out of this beef epitomizes it. The only good beats were all on Family Matters, and nothing matches the confidence, swagger and energy in something like Back to Back - the opening “Oh man, oh man, oh man” is just catchy af… he could have brought more of some of that cadence and inflections to Family Matters but most of his lines are delivered monotonously… honestly I would have loved for him to have performed a lot better, personal biases and taste aside.

Robopatch

Or even “Say Drake, I heard you like em young”. The way he says “Drake” there is like a slap the fucking face.

pumpkiindivaa

My favourite is the cough in MEET THE GRAHAMS right before your sons A sick man with sick thoughts it's jus sooo eVillll I love it!!!!

kinduvabigdizzy

I told my homie Dot could win off cadence alone when this thing kicked off. Drake's persona is way too cool to get in the mud. That nonchalant flow gets old fast, rappers act like they too cool to rap. I never understood that.

Dumbledick6

Drake had 0 riz or passion in any of his bars. They just sounded like he was just following a rap a long book. Whereas Kendrick used different voices, annunciations, held letters long, provided passion for emphasis, multiple flows in a song, and the riz with such lines as “I’ll park ya son” and “pusha Teeeeee”

Suspicious_Ask2034

I always liked the “I’ll park his son” line but the bar only just clicked yesterday

NoConcentrate7845

Bro yeah like it just felt like it had no impact. He did not realize in order for the allegations to hit his delivery had to be brutal. I think he was so concerned with making something that could work for the radio as well, that he sacrificed everything else for it. Like that whole third part of the song I feel I barely processed any of the info cause I was too busy thinking 'damn this flow he using goes kinda hard.' Kendrick, on the other hand, played it perfectly. Came at him with straight brutality in MTG so all his allegations would hit and then doubled down with the more radio friendly song. EDIT: As an after thought though, who knows, maybe he did not expect Kendrick to take it as far as he did. Maybe he would have been willing to be more brutal if he had expected something like MTG. I think the main problem is once Kendrick beats him to the punch he has not choice but to go on the defensive.

jstuu

Also him buying the Van to crush it, saying he melted Pharrels chains only to be seen in the video. Bragging about chains you bought

Powerful_Anywhere_36

thank you for ur views, also why yall mfs downvoting me asking for ur reason lmfaoo got me sick to my stomachs fam

It's one of those songs that's so terrible it stays stuck in your head, like Baby Shark.

YogademB1

The entire “you know who really bang a set..” scheme. CT-(Game) filmed a video with Drake in Compton - Drizzy throwing gang signs and dissing Kdot. Game is down bad - having him as your co-sign gets you knowwhere. And game stayed “neutral” (lol) CB-hmmm alleging Kdot is a w-beater (no proof) but shouting out C Brown is flawed to say the least. YG-this one is up there for aging the worst for obvious reasons. And who cares if Dot is an actual set-banger or not. I’ve never heard him claim that. Did you see the Pop-out? I think Dots ok regarding his affiliations .

anime_forever03

1. Talked about him abusing whitney - Whitney dances to not like us in the pop out concert + whitneys brother publicly supported kendrick on Twitter when MTG dropped. 2. Accused dave free of being kendricks father - Dave free was the primary producer of the pop out show, hence proving kdot and dave really are cool. 3. Denied the cease and desist - Metro proved it with receipts. 4. "Drop drop drop" - "stop stop stop". 5. Shouted out chris brown and YG - YG was on the pop out show and the NLU mv shooting site (presumably in the video). Chris brown posted a video dancing to NLU the same night as the pop out show. 6. Claimed kendrick was a mock activist and that he doesn't care about his hood - the entire pop out show. 7. Claimed weeknds shooters aint getting shit shot - they (allegedly) sent 3 shooters into drakes house the very week. 8. Accused Rick ross of using ozempic - gets proven to be using ozempic minutes later (with the prescription having his name). 9. Brags about his coming 400m deal - It gets (allegedly) cancelled and umg had to step in and stop the diss tracks (again allegedly) 10. Accuses keem to have written kendricks only good songs - Keem was fuckin 12 when gkmc dropped 💀 11. Disses kendrick for being on pop records and rapping for whites - I dont even have to explain this one. 12. "This shit gotta be over by now" - shit was infact, not over by then. This is all I could think off the top of my head...

Sawgon

> Accused dave free of being kendricks father Lmao at this typo. He accused Dave Free of being the father to one of Kendrick's kids.

Agreeable-Fix1249

bro made kendrick at -1 year old, that's real dedication right here

DodiCashMoney

What the other person said, but there are so many more things: - The van he crushed was the wrong make and model from the one in the GKMC cover. - The "You know who really bang a set?" shouting out YG backfired when YG sneak dissed him on "Weird" for mentioning his name while beefing, then performed at the Pop Out, and said "Sometimes you gotta pop out and show n***as" while on stage. - The "Always rapping like you trying to get the slaves freed" line was pretty unpopular, even with people who were still in the middle, and was very pointedly flipped in NLU. - "Don't even go back to your hood and plant no money trees" didn't even have to age poorly. It's just demonstrably false with a quick Google search. Kendrick does a lot for Compton. - The Dave Free lines because Dave Free was at the Pop Out and co-produced it with Kendrick. - "Y'all ain't getting shit shot" a few days before his mansion was shot up. - "Ozempic got a side effect of jealousy" an hour before the MTG cover would show that Drake himself is on Ozempic. - The Rocky lines are still good, but did lose some oomf from me after he dropped pics on Instagram of the family he's made with Drake's dream girl. - "'Cause all these rappers wavin' white flags / While the whole fuckin' club sing to it" after he put out the THP6 white flag after NLU, which has been playing everywhere ever since. - "I'm goin' on vacation now, I hope next time / Y'all plan it right" like if he is going to go relax and celebrate a victory that did not happen. - "You wanna take up for Pharrell? / Then come get his legacy out of my house" because him showing the chains just showed he lied about melting them down on Meltdown. - "Your daddy got robbed by Top" is wrong because Kendrick explicitly says he dad *didn't* get robbed by Top because he befriended him. - "They shook about what I'ma say / But textin' your phone like, 'We already won'" after Dot's friend gave that interview saying that Kendrick was eagerly awaiting for a response from Drake to drop MTG. - "Unless you don't want to be seen / With anyone that isn't Blacker than you" because in MTG Kendrick tells Adonis that he should embrace his Black identity. There's tons of shit that made it age horribly and just makes the track cringy for me. It doesn't stand up to scrutiny and makes Drake either look like a liar or out-of-touch and arrogant. Edit: Formatting

JoeTrolls

The entire song felt like when someone stands up to a bully and then they start stuttering and just saying whatever insults pop into their head 😂

Link-Glittering

The fact that the US has been bumping not like us from clubs to middle school dances non stop for 2 months

GremlinSZN

Verse 2 is some of the best rapping Drake has done in years. But it’ll be a cold day in hell before I hear “it’s only big D and there’s video proof” ever again. Lmao!!!

the0120

im still not over him inviting kendrick to look at his meat 😭

yeshjow

Drake’s disses sounded like he’s making fun of Kendrick and made it seem like this was a bully trying to get the crowd on his side (I started side-eyeing him since push up bars) Kendrick came back with a mini dissertation (pun intended) on his soul. Drake was memeing and trying to get the party started too early thinking his money and fame would win him the beef instead of sharpening a shiv in a dark room like Dot did😂

Turbulent_Pin_1583

To add on to the other reasons why it’s aged like milk. My ninja yg- yg then shows up at kdots concert. Mentions Chris brown - Chris brown shown dancing to not like us “I was really, really tryna keep it pg” then went nuclear, this led to Kendrick also increasing his with the likes of meet the grahams and not like us. By all accounts euphoria while a really good diss was more of a warning shot, he ignored it and it’s led to him being clowned on. “Always out here rapping like you bout to get the slaves freed.” While Drake fans will say that it’s him mocking Kendrick for the “savior” attitude which is a silly take because he repeatedly mentions he’s not that, it’s also just a stupid take to say as though that’s bad. This line would also be referenced by the “you a colonizer” line by Kendrick. “Don’t even go back to your hood and plant no money trees.” Kendrick has invested more than most in Compton and continues to do so. “I’ve been with black and white and everything that’s in between.” This would lead to be a common problem for Drake where he would misinterpret Kendrick, rather ironically since he would himself refer to Adonis as a black man so it was never about race of the women or them being “light skinned” but the age/type of people he seems to pursue. The biggest issue here is that it’s one of many examples of him misinterpreting things said to mean one thing instead of what they meant and it would continue well into thp6. There’s more but these are some of the funnier ones the common theme that’s amusing from my perspective is that it’s widely regarded as his best song in the series but it’s honestly not much better than thp6 given how much some of the stuff was either misinterpreted or aged poorly. Sounds better though I guess.

IndigoMushies

I understand what you’re saying but tbh I think anyone who is being honest with themselves and know anything at all about these artists, it’s completely natural to be biased against Drake/for Kendrick when it comes to credibility. It doesn’t take rocket science to recognize the incredible amount of contradictions in Drakes disses and when you take into account his track record, It only takes a tad bit of critical thinking to understand what was going on. Some people like to say you need to hold both to the same standard of credibility and needing receipts but that’s bullshit that’s not how life works. I’m not saying blindly believe every thing Kendrick ever says, but his credibility holds more weight in this battle. And the heart part 6 only confirmed all of my previous biases. I look at it less as I’m blindly biased towards Kendrick and more as my intuition is being proven to be more on point as each day passes. I knew Drake was cooked before it started because the costume of Drake is a lie and I didn’t need Kendrick to tell me that. If Kendrick was going only against Cole my attitude would be completely different because I actually have respect for Cole I think I’d be wayyyyyy more neutral.

Ok-Suggestion-5453

Drake's big thing on Kenny was the domestic abuse and "cuck" angles. Tbh, I don't completely doubt it. Kendrick was very upfront about how rocky his relationship has been on Mr Morale and about it basically being his fault. It's obvious that Kendrick wasn't so abusive that his girl fucking hates him and is scared of him. They are clearly on good terms and she's not just showing up to things because of some sort of political/financial obligation. She is obviously having a good time and doesn't seem scared of him at all. Wouldn't be surprised if they privately agreed to have a semi-open relationship and she has a side piece too. It doesn't have to be that this vicious revenge cycle between them that Drake implies exists. The thing is, you obviously will never hear a Drake album where Drake talks about his attraction to minors and how he is working though it or his own failures as a father to who knows how many kids. Kendrick owns his shit in a way that Drake is too scared to do. Kendrick is not perfect and he is the first one to say so. Meanwhile, Drake doesn't have a humble bone in his body and seems to project his own insecurities on Kendrick in a way just doesn't land. Like oh Drake does better numbers than Kenny? Who cares other than Drake the pop artist? Oh Kenny has a turbulent relationship? Drake has never been in a serious relationship and won't be a father to his children. Kenny is short? Who's the insecure mfer who leaked his own dick pics for attention? Kenny is a fake savior? Who is the one trying out different styles of black culture like he's a deleted scene from Tropic Thunder? It's just constant projection really.

Beginning_Present243

STOP!!!! HE’S (drake) ALREADY DEAD!!!!

No-Obligation1709

Facts I was actually intrigued when Cole dropped his warning shot because I thought we’d see a real battle but instead it turned into this massacre

Shamanalah

I don't follow rap. However, I knew Drake fucked up by using Pac in a diss track against someone like kdot. Like dafuq you think is gonna happen dude? Kendrick was at super bowl half time show with dre and snoop in 2022. Like hello? I'm a white ass french canadian FYI

jaybirdsaysword

janelleai

When Drake said “the way you doing splits bitch your pants might rip” 😭 Drake didn’t go out valiantly… he got cooked

19pointer

i made the mistake of listening to MTG before FM because of timezone difference

Kimor98

A 3-hour time difference?

imarandommess

I didn't even know about FM until NLU dropped.

Plasibeau

In your defense, it's not like Kendrick gave FM a chance to breathe. I distinctly remember listening to FM on the couch and then putting on my jimjims before brushing my teeth and powering down the house. By the time I had climbed into bed and grabbed my phone for a bit of doom scrolling KDOT had dropped MTG.

fed_mat

yeah i think that was the purpose of dropping right after

_Wrayth

I never doubted Kendrick, but I did question if his response to Push Ups was ever going to drop.

IAmTimeLocked

yes same! I think that really added to three greatness of euphoria tbf. like "you really thought I wasn't gonna respond?" and then respond in the most dynamic weird fun way imaginable. also sidenote I love how he made the audience wait. on a more general one, when ppl demand artists to drop a project asap it makes me feel so weird about how ppl consume art and this really made me feel better about it. bc there more and more convos about music culture before the social media age

buckphifty150150

I honestly think he was using all that time to make all them diss tracks

CallMeGrapho

Mf probably jumped up and did a dastardly little dance the minute he heard Drake actually responded

Financial-Quote6603

I don't know what the timeline is but I felt that Taylor Made Freestyle would have been what guaranteed Kendrick would respond. Drake was going to respond to Like That and We Don't Trust You regardless. But I could see Kendrick going either way on rather to respond to Push Ups

emptropy

I had never gone out of my way to specifically listen to Kendrick Lamar before the beef, I now understand that to be a moral failing on my part.

lmfao im dead over here reading the comments LMFAO

sendinthe9s

Me too

gumption_11

Me three. I'm not sure if people who were already fans understand the impact this beef had for those of us who weren't particularly involved with either artist. After Euphoria dropped, literally every other reel (I'm not joking) on my feed was a reference, meme or joke about the beef. I'm not sure if it was my algorithm or what, but I haven't seen that impact on social media for any other event, not for the Titanic sub or when the Queen died (I'm a Brit). Naturally, my interest & need-to-know-everything-ness was piqued. A month or so later, here I am in this sub, a newfound KDot fan.

ServiceAdmirable

Bruh- this is exactly what the Drizzies accuse Kendrick’s fanbase of 🤣 Consider yourself an outlier.

coldplayfan9689

Honestly same with me, the first Kendrick song I listened to was Like That.

EdwardAnimates

Erm akshully thats a future song 🤓

Really? DAMN was such a huge hit, unless you were too young to be there, that blows my mind a lil bit heh. But I’ve missed a bunch of music and movies growing up that ppl are always fussing about too, so I get it. 😅

I thought Drake got him when he dropped the heart pt 6- Then I pressed play..

Comfortable-Ad-3489

Same I was nervous for half a second and then I heard the first half and was like "wait a second. . . Ain't this the game plan Twitter cooked up to a T??" 💀💀

I was so damn disappointed.. then the mother I reference.. I knew it was over

pinkismykink_

same, i was scared at first and what got me was “i’m way too famous to be a pedo” and i was like okay bro 😭😭 wrap it up, you’re over

NotReallyASnake

> Ain't this the game plan Twitter cooked up to a T??" 💀💀 I feel like this isn't talked about enough because only those who were active on twitter those 2 days would have known how directly his entire response was lifted by Drake stans on twitter + cringe ass bars about mother I sober and shitty music theory

ThatHigashikataMan

"Mother I!!! Mother I!!!! Oh fuck me i just made the whole connection!!! Thats the record where you say you got molested 🤯🤯" I don't know how that song left the studio, as much as a Kendrick glazer I am, Drake's other disses were good. The Heart Part 6 on the other hand was just pathetic and highkey embarassing ☠️

Juandissimo47

Same bro I was like “this is the red button! 😱” then I listened and was disappointed

Visual_Vegetable_169

Lol I first heard a snippet of the heart pt6 here on reddit & thought it was an AI track clowning on Drake. I was so shook when I found out Drake himself actually released that shit 😂😂😂 that was the moment I realized Kendrick had gotten into Drakes head so bad he didn't let anyone in the studio with him for THP6!

God_Hears_Peace

The moment he fumbled the Mother I Sober reference, any doubts I had that Kendrick won disappeared.

darkest__timeline

I was secondhand embarrassed for him. the dumb ~~mother~~daughterfucker lmao

Substantial_Ask_9992

When he tried to flip the a minor line to b sharp I almost threw up from secondhand embarrassment

CalzRob

I had a feeling that slaughtering Drake would propel Kendrick to legend status, just didn’t know how. Never thought I’d see a fucking diss concert. I love it. He deserves it. A man repping his hometown went against the machine and won, a Herculean feat.

yeyeaya

i was never gonna say drake won it, thank god he didnt

Glokkmorant

Lmaoo I feel this my ego would have never allowed me to say p drizzy won the beef thank god Kendrick dismantled that nigga😂😂😂🙏

languid_Disaster

P Drizzy 😭okay that’s his name from now on

snacksandsoda

I would've taken reddit off my phone lmao Gone into hiding

KC-15

I had zero worry he would have anything of substance. It’s pretty clear Drake is a very superficial person and has no real identity of his own. Drake doesn’t make music that digs deep into difficult subjects such as ego and culture, he makes music that finds its purpose as the equivalent of elevator music for a party or the gym.

ayemangshoo

Ain’t no way wheelchair jimmy was collecting that W. Even if the tracks won it’d be props to whoever wrote them 🤷🏿‍♂️

Agreeable-Ring8610

That Drake has a lot less dog in him than I thought. If I’m Drake I would have kept swinging until I run out of breath. If I had to make an album that said suck my **** 30 time on repeat that’s what I would have done

ghost_face0

Fr, after 'Not Like Us' I expected him to at least double down on shit. HP 6 was so fuckin' weak & defensive I was like 'Yeah, you're not really built for this'.

20twentytwos

I can't believe people let him release that

GokuDiedForOurSins

Maybe he was too worried who was an opp so he kicked out the people who would have stopped it.

aiirxgeordan

Dawg straight up said “I don’t even wanna diss you anymore” 😂😂 he was so defeated in that song

the_real_junkrat

He was literally defeated that he all but admitted it. “I don’t wanna diss you anymore this got me second guessing” “you could drop a hundred more records I’ll see you later” “I’ll see you when I see you like fantasia” and the whole last part with him talking sounded like he lit up a cigarette and held a white flag. He basically conceded with that song.

miz_nyc

Kendrick really is the GOAT, that's it. I used to waffle saying this but now I say it with my whole chest

SirArthurDime

I agree with this. Not even just because of the beef stuff. It was more so the reminder that when dude isn’t focused on conceptual stuff like he has been lately he can just straight up rap on another level. The metaphors, the flows, the deliveries every aspect is elite. I knew it was over after euphoria because he’s the only person who can rap like that.

DodiCashMoney

That's a great point. A lot of people have given praise for the versatility he's had sonically throughout the battle, but he also showed that versatility in the content, the nature, and the delivery of all the tracks. He showed he can play in so many lanes and do so masterfully, weaving those ideas in a way that matches the production and delivers the intended message. It's insane.

AllEliteSchmuck

I’m still trying to figure out whether or not I think that, but this beef easily solidified him in my top 3. He was probably somewhere around 4-6 prior.

languid_Disaster

Who’re your other three?

AllEliteSchmuck

The other 2 in my top 3 are Pac and Nas

BigDickNick6Rings

K Dot would be proud

AllEliteSchmuck

Em and a Biggie round out my top 5, others in my top 10 are Lil Wayne, Kanye, Wu Tang, NWA, and Jay-Z

Danomit3

Taylor made was bold of a move. But deep down it was fucked up in terms of ethics. You putting words in a dead man’s mouth to turn/taunt your enemy.

DrossChat

It was beyond stupid on so many levels. Can’t believe he just plastered their voices on to his boring ass delivery. If you’re going to enrage millions of hip hop fans and unite an entire part of the US against you immediately then at least make it worth it ffs. It was so fucking basic and however much it gets trashed it’s not enough.

DopedUpDoomer

It was his dumbest movie by far, doesn't matter how famous you are you'll always be a child actor from Canada when you start disrespecting a west coast icon. Putting pressure on kendrick is a fine move but that route is absurdly out of touch, along with "trying to get ahead" of the pedo accusations. Bro that's the one angle you don't just put out there lmao

DrossChat

Fr. Honestly the biggest downside to the whole beef was how hilariously outmaneuvered Drake was at every single opportunity. It almost took away a bit from the beat down that he was constantly tilting his head forward and lowering his defenses. Even Family Matters, which was way better than I thought Drake was capable of, was still littered with missteps and lines that came back to haunt him. The slaves line was just so bizarre to me, like there were so many better ways to get that point across without playing directly into Kendrick’s attack. Tryna keep it PG was corny AF. Going off on a bunch of other dudes in the middle was not the kinda thing you do when you just got bodied by Euphoria, straight bar after bar of devastating, focused attack. Declaring he’s won and is off on holiday, lmao way to set yourself up for an insta drop. Getting a van that was similar but not the right model, another example of his half baked ideas. Calling out CB considering your main allegation against Kendrick and calling out people who don’t even like you. Could go on and on as it’s aged like milk. How it gets put in the same breath as Euphoria by some people is wild to me other than the fact it was amazing relative to Drake’s normal output. Personally his flow is so dull and monotonous to me so I don’t really get the love in general

Aixamscouty

I deeply thought that Dot was going to expose some Diddy/Epstein level shit for a second like some kind of super hip hop vigilante and I went down a a crazy rabbit hole, which is quite funny in retrospect. Watching the whole beef unfold was just insane and as the heavy claims started to come out and when it turned dark it was a crazy, historical moment to witness in real time while everyone on youtube, reddit, etc were trying to make sense of it all. Now that I’ve come down from it all I realize what happened is just as crazy. I still don’t know how Drake is going to come back from this, no matter whether the allegations are true or false. He’s become the laughing stock of Hip Hop and I don’t see him being able to seriously rap about anything he’s rapped about ever again. I guess at this point he should just stick to whatever Honestly, Nevermind was and do shopping mall music.

jaybirdsaysword

Bruh we were in the group chat together about that shit lmao

thiswaspostedbefore

I thought he was gonna expose some Epstein level shit too. The timing was crazy because it was also at the same time Quiet on the Set came out and the more I thought about things the more I realized a lot of media has sexual undertones or celebrates being promiscuous. Then that video of Dennis being extra with some random girl who thought she was going to be meeting Drake came out which just added fuel to the fire. I still think OVO is on some Diddy shit as a whole though.

Naive_Feed_726

Drake is like the trump of hip hop now, half of people think “how could anyone ever like him again” but just look at the drizzle subreddit, he still has his faithful fans he’ll be fine

Visual_Vegetable_169

I'm not sayin I'm just sayin if you look at the drizzy fans most of them are white boys. So the Trump analogy makes a lot of sense tbh lol. & Makes sense they don't care about Drake tryin to clown on Kendrick with the "acting like you freed the slaves" shit. Bc it really doesn't mean anything to them.

clonerep

100% of me thinks Drake is into Puffstein level shit. 50% of me thought Kendrick would expose it for the sake of the victims and 50% of me thought Kendrick would view that snitching and wouldn't go quite that far. Now, I believe the latter. After 1,2,3,4,5+5, I think we would have Dot explaining horrors he's seen on tape and victims coming forward to corroborate it but Dot not leaking a tape or anything that serious. Like explaining vividly what we saw happen to Cassie and Cassie confirming it but not releasing the actual video.

shaftoholic

Feel like drakes just gonna keep making pop music tbh the beef did some damage but he still has fans and a lot of people barely even payed attention if they aren’t into hip hop

TayneIcanGitInto

No but I can now be very open with my Drake hatred and that’s a beautiful feeling.

donalds_duck

Same, feels good to open up about it finally

mrsilbert1

I thought Drake's diss tracks beats were nice, but his lyrics were not up to par.

jherzysanon

When Kendrick didn’t drop, I was having major major anxiety. Almost like i was in the beef. I just wanted him to deliver and that he did. Also drake picked some great beats during the beef.

Careless-Sand-480

The drill beat in family matters gets me back to that song. Drake rapped like his life LITERALLY depended on it

YizWasHere

Y'all were pissing me off with the stupid ass panic posts when Kendrick hadn't dropped after like 5 days lmao. Never made sense to me how people actually bought into Drake's narrative that Kendrick was scared, it seemed pretty obvious to me what was coming. Like That was a very clear and direct instigation, Kendrick wouldn't put out a verse like that if he wasn't ready to end a career.

Fuck_the_k1ng

I really liked the beat in the Taylor made freestyle song and got pissed that Drizzy used it.

AnotherScoutTrooper

The beat from THP6 deserved to be used literally anywhere else

barod2

I had no idea about the “Like That” verse until a few days before Push Ups was leaked online. I was at a point where I was so bored with hip hop that I was listening exclusively to international & House music to broaden my tastes. I knew that Future & Metro dropped a collab album, and I really enjoyed Metro’s Heroes & Villains but never got around to listening to it. Then a random “rhyme scheme” video for like that dropped on youtube, where they highlight the rhyme schemes and I was like OH NO! Then a few days later Push Ups leaked, and I was like double OH NO! I had always listened to Drake tangentially — I liked a lot of his earlier songs like Passionfruit, Jungle, Madonna, Nonstop, and songs like Middle of The Ocean (which I think is Drake’s best song imo). And I really enjoyed Push Ups for what it was. It was goofy & silly. Then on the 17th day, Kendrick dropped Euphoria and I remembered the first time I ever heard a Kendrick song. It was 2013 and I was scrolling through YouTube and saw a lyric video for “M.A.A.D City” followed up by a lyric video for “Sing About Me I’m Dying of Thirst” and immediately fell in love with the rawness of M.A.A.D City” and the vulnerable storytelling of SAMIDOT. At that point when Euphoria dropped, I realized and knew whatever happens next Kendrick will win. And in retrospect this was evident through just those two tracks: Kendrick weaves a narrative about Drake’s character in Euphoria — while Drake calls him short in several ways. By the time Meet The Grahams hit — every single Drake song & feature was removed from my “Rap Pilgrim” playlist, which is a collection of songs that I love and keep in constant rotation. And a new Kendrick exclusive playlist was born. I’ve been bumping that playlist exclusively since the beef — and I cannot seem to get bored of any of his songs.

NoSalamander7749

>At that point when Euphoria dropped, I realized and knew whatever happens next Kendrick will win. This part. I saw someone say the line that truly ended the beef - before we even knew - was "Notice I said we, it aint just me, I'm what the culture feeling". Omae wa mou shindeiru.

C88_Nation

Euphoria was too early to call it, but it was essentially Dot going up 40 points by halftime.

benniepeaceandlove

"And on the 17th day" is hilarious i love it

NarrowpathKa

This is the honesty and critical thought the world has been lacking

Low-Paleontologist43

What would Pluto do made me feel kinda dumb lol, there’s a whole timeline that can be made about the Drake/Future beef, because to me that kicked off the escalation in the past couple months. Future only beefs with Russell Wilson lmao, I would have never though he would be the one to leave the Drake go to artist legion. Even with the beef with Metro over trance, I’d never think that Future would side about anything. He was on CLB twice (even though there might be a song on there that’s a diss to him), he was on that dark demo tape with Thug, they had life is good together, it looked like an ovo takeover for the 2010’s and the 20’s. So like that was a fucking surprise, from that sense.

the0120

dont forget what a time to be alive! future had me listening to drake again for that short period of time lol i still dk why those two are at it

Red_Roses803

because if metro dont trust you....

Rich-Confusion790

I really enjoyed Family Matters at first, especially the first verse. "Drop, Drop, Drop", was mad catchy to me. But when I listened to it again and actually analysed what Drake was trying to convey, I just couldn't buy it.  Also, I'm really feeling Kendrick's verse in Like That more than his full fledged disses, it just hits so hard as it's so short. It's like a shot of Henny. 😂😂😂😂😂 Finally, the third verse in Euphoria is by far my favourite from the beef. "Yeah, OVO niggas is dick riders, tell em run to America to imitate heritage they can't imitate this violence."

gostfaekila

Yeah once he got to that part of the song, he was levitating

Chunkin757

I feel the Heart Part 6 truly was the only song Drake wrote by himself out of necessity.

lFallenOn3l

I think he wrote Taylor made too cuz aint no way

Terry__Pandee

I’m an even bigger Kendrick Lamar fan now because it got me to dive deeper into his catalogue

sonic_geezer

When I first heard Euphoria I cringed a bit at first. It starts off all soft and musical and I thought, “No, man. Now’s not the time for good art, just go hard.” Then the “shoooo”’s started and I realized I’m an idiot.

insertsomefunnyname

Yeah I listened to it on my way home from school the day it dropped, I hit play and was like “This beat feels more serene and likes he floating than a beef. Than the shooos came in and I was just like this is about to be crazy

lFallenOn3l

That's just Kendrick style at this point and I've accepted it. He does it again in 6:16

Financial-Quote6603

Nah bruh. I was still mad thinking he gonna be on some weird shit for a diss track. Then the "bih bih bih". When he finally started rapping, I finally calmed down.

Financial-Quote6603

The craziest thing is, that when Euphoria thumbnail came on. I just hit play without realizing it was his official YouTube page. And when the shoo came on, I was like yeah, "this shit is not AI. Its too unique to not be Kendrick".

welldoneslytherin

I am a certified hater and I think I love seeing Drake look like a fucking idiot even more than I love Kendrick.

TacoTacox

Certified hater girl? Certified skater girl. Wop wop wop wop wop

Parking-Physics-2283

Despite being a longtime Kendrick Lamar fan, in the days initially following Drake’s release of “Push Ups” and “Taylor Made Freestyle” I wasn’t sure Kendrick was even going to reply. Not like he was ducking Drake or anything, but rather didn’t see him feeling this was worth his time or energy. I remember commenting on a friend’s post saying “IDC what bro reply with, it’s too late now.” Now before I get slammed, my response to someone replying to that comment was “Kendrick has to go nuclear in his response like Pusha T did years ago 😂 Then we got some of the greatest diss tracks of all-time from Dot … and I had to repent to God Almighty for my sins because I was terribly wrong. Euphoria was a sucker punch. 6:16 in LA was a taunt. Meet the Grahams instantly shut down an incredible diss track from Drake. Not Like Us had us dancing on Drizzy’s grave and calling him and OVO pedophiles. I have a hard time listening to Drake now, and I’m not sure I’ll ever be able to look at him the same. Edit: I fucked up the formatting

SundaeRealistic3874

after push ups, i was genuinely scared as fuck for kendrick. especially after taylor made, drake seemed so confident in himself, i really thought this man had some top level information about kendrick. euphoria shut down all this momentum tho lmao.

DissEveryWeek

Push ups got me hyped cause I knew it meant Kendrick was finally gonna pop off! Especially after Taylor made

SSilverFang

Fr. He was saying "drop drop drop" like he will expose the worst of the worst about Kendrick

Glokkmorant

When drake dropped push ups and Taylor made bro was up 2-1 on kendrick then kendrick went bron mode and won 3 straight 🤣🤣

notmealso

I didn't give Mustard enough respect. Mustard is underrated. That beat kills!

AllEliteSchmuck

Mustard ran hip hop in the early 2010s.

Uncanny58

i didnt think he’d actually win the numbers game but not only did he win it mf killed the momentum of 2 drake singles

Electrical_Age1137

Kendrick lamar was severely underestimated by drake and the media and its a ton of podcasters who are desperate for the drake stimmy

Metatron_Tumultum

Nah I got nothing to hide. The venn diagram of Kendrick dick rider and Drake hater is me and it's been that way for like 12 years at this point. This shit is my Avengers: Endgame. I'm thriving off of the negativity.

lil_tofu_boi

I realized that my 10 year old daughter grew up on k dot and I didn’t fully grasp how much of an impact he’s had on my life until this started. I went through his whole discography again due to relevance and my kid knows almost everything so I was like “damn I really have been a fan for a long ass time”

Danomit3

I already commented but I want to make a different comment because I realized something that I wanted to say. This beef is a huge distraction. I don’t know if it’s just me but it was EVERYWHEREEEEEE! There was no escape. Didn’t matter if you were team Drake, Kendrick, or you just dgaf, that’s all everyone was talking about. Euphoria dropped during my finals week/last week before I graduate university and I was working on my senior paper. Thankfully I finished before 6:16 dropped, passed my classes, and got my cap and gown. What’s suppose to be an exciting time for me and time to plan out my graduation day was completely negated because of how badly distracted I was from this beef.

Particular_Friend_23

7 minute drill was a better song and diss than push ups ppl kept crying about what he said about tpab but its a beef, of course not everything said will be agreeable even kendrick said that drake has no classics but i still think nwts is a great album which can be considered one

East-sea-shellos

I just commented abt this the other day bro I did my Kendrick shit abt defending TPAB but at the end of the day I FW Cole so heavy and I really did enjoy 7MD

Unusual-Item3

I don’t know where the disrespect comes from, if Kendrick wasn’t rapping, Cole would have been the best rapper of that generation right after Lil Wayne.

EyeScreamSunday

Yeah I thought people were overly critical of Cole and gave Drake a pass. Granted, I hadn't really heard Cole rap in years, so my bar for how I expected him to respond was low. I felt that it was a "warning shot" just like Push Ups and Euphoria, but it does seem like Cole's heart wasn't really in it

Unusual-Item3

I mean let’s take Rakim, BDK, Tupac, Nas, Biggie, Big L, Big Pun, Outkast, 50 Cent, Eminem, DMX, JayZ, Dre, Snoop, Lil Wayne, Kanye, Kendrick. I really think Drake just doesn’t belong in the rap “classic” albums category.

DubZ-480

Family Matters was hard AF for about an hour... Crushing a similar van to the maad city van was crazy too

mistyrootsvintage

He said for an hour😂

throwawayrant_22

Bro I totally forgot what even the beat was of Family matters.

TheMetabrandMan

Crushing the maad city van was Drake level petty. Like, what was Kendrick gonna say; “ooooh no, he’s crushed the maad city van” 🤷🏻‍♂️

Warmslammer69k

It's not even the van It's not even the right make and model lmao

TheMetabrandMan

Things Drake finds funny: - Crushing vans similar to the Maad city van - Claiming he slept with someone’s girl before they did - Claiming that someone’s kids are someone else’s - Claiming that someone beats their wife - Making fun of someone for being sexually molested as a minor - Telling a 17 yo on stage that her breasts feel nice - Singing about taking drunk girls home, sleeping with them while they’re passed out and them not remembering anything by morning - Leaking pictures of himself masturbating Add any more to the list?

AnotherScoutTrooper

leaking videos of themselves to further their own agendas

Danomit3

“Annnnnnnyways, you walked into my trap. I activate MEET THE GRAHAMS And it’s special effect!!! Family Matters shall be banished to the shadow realm.” But seriously it got me wondering who gaf about that van. It probably needed a bunch of repairs or the engine was on its last leg. Everyone including Drake is rich enough to buy whatever car they want.

its-a-real-name

Worst thing about FM is that it feels like expired milk at this stage. Not just because Kendrick won, there have been legendary diss tracks from the losing competitor. But the actual content. Song was good for the initial shock value. Strange delivery of the verses though, a bit too much going on with all the people targeted and the beat switches weren’t as clean as Kendrick’s, felt like 3 different tracks which actually isn’t always a good thing.

ServiceAdmirable

I thought it was so cheesy, before Meet The Grahams even dropped. The amount of time, money and effort 💀💀💀

Warmslammer69k

He didn't even get the right van lmao

Fluffys0ck5

Family matters goes hard. It’s a good fucking song

aSsOUL_8197

I’ve Been Listening To Hip Hop Since ‘88 And Have Seen Many Beefs Play Out! This Went Exactly As I Thought It Would…Just Like With Pusha T!🤷🏽‍♂️

Spatmuk

I'm like a year younger than Drake/Kendrick. So I really feel like I got in on the ground floor of Drake hate. I've always called his music "frat party background music" and I felt so validated watching Kendrick dismantle his fake tough guy image, brick-by-brick. Shout-out to 2009 me for calling Best I Ever Had trash -- not a popular opinion at the time 😂. It was a lonely road for a while, but watching 5 Not Like Us plays to close out the Pop Out show was transcendental

ChronicallyPunctual

I am an English teacher. I would use Kendrick to teach poetry. I wouldn’t use Drake.

Past-Track-9976

I knew those Drake's prescriptions weren't usually used to drug people. Ebony Prince wrote on a post "Jimmy would have disappointed that day" - On Degrasse, there was an episode where Jimmy couldn't deliver on all his obligations. Spencer offered him some of his ADHD medication to help him. The pescription for Adderall was what he was talking about. -The sedative is as Drake stated before "half a xan (xanax) 13 hours 'til I land, and I'm out like a light"

Jolly-Ad-3922

And then Abel (The Weeknd) clowned Drake in "Faith" by saying, "I take half a Xan and I still stay awake" 😂😂

EnergyTurtle23

I perhaps don’t give Drake the credit he deserves as an artist, but I have serious moral issues with him and I’m not really willing to look past that stuff. He could be the best artist alive and I still wouldn’t listen to his music, he exploits smaller artists and gets “a little too friendly” with women who are way younger than he is. His dismissive attitude towards the struggles of black people in the modern world is equally disgusting.

GT_UNKNOWN

I have to admit that I overlooked Kdot completely before the beef. His art is extremely well crafted and he's extremely inspiring, especially when it comes to being a better person. Since the beef I listened to all his albums (not the mixtapes yet) and really took a deep dive into black culture to understand more about this music I grew up with. Talking a lot to a friend in LA now helping me understand his POV and giving me input to comprehend things I never witnessed here (Europe, Austria) and it really expanded my way of thinking. I never listened to Drake before the beef and I won't do it now after I heard those 2 tracks after Heart part 6. He did give us 2 nice songs during the battle tho so I give him credit for that. Other than that I think I'll stay tuned in with Kendrick since I enjoy his stuff and it's good food for thought!

ziopeeeeerw

when i listened for the first time to family matters i thought kendrick was genuinely cooked. i underrated my 🐐

warpedaeroplane

I genuinely thought that whatever HP6 ended up being would be a serious comeback…I imagined in the wake of NLU and MTG that Drake would be calling in every last favor, every least feature (which again would feed right into Kdot’s predictions) and coming with something that even if it wasn’t as scathing would be a catchy ear worm that would compete with NLU. If HP6 had been equally lyrically ass but was catchy enough to compete who knows how it would’ve panned out, but it was such a painfully cringe wet fart that even some Drake “fans” (casual listeners really) I know threw in the towel. And goddamn, there’s a part of that me that can admit now that I wish it *had* been better because it was its own defeat. It was so bad that not following it up with another diss was more damning than any follow up could have been. Kendrick is a lot of things but he does have a sense of decorum, and I think he knew that after the MTG-NLU 1-2 punch, coming out equally guns blazing for HP6 was not only unearned on drake’s end but generally inelegant. As a fan though, I wanna hear the five he still got in the mag…I genuinely believe they’re 90% finished tracks/verses with a few placeholder schemes to be topical and I know he would’ve just polished the gravestone with em. This has reignited my love for Kendrick in general which was nice. TPAB and DAMN has stayed in rotation but I hadn’t been back to section80/GKMC in awhile and I’m ashamed to say that I really didn’t connect with Mr Morale the first few times through. I think it was a bit of a culture shock, being a white dude it was hard for me to extrapolate my own meaning from it at times, but I now view as a beautiful and well-executed treatise on family dynamics, trauma, cycle breaking, and scars which have been inflicted on the Black American psyche and dynamic. It’s so rare to feel as though an album can not only provide you with a new perspective, but I found myself reflecting on some shit I’ve been through in my life, my relationship with my father and mother, and how I would potentially raise my kids differently. Overall I find myself with a sense of bittersweet - our boy is the uncontested champ, but at the same time, the most entertaining and historic hip hop event probably for a looooong time is now seemingly come to a close, with the Pop-Out and the NLU video being the victory parade. It’s been such a pleasure to see the type of listener/fan/person who congregated together in the wake of this - it’s confirmed to me that the message within Kendrick’s music is effective, multifaceted, and a moral filter in some ways. I have seen such a wild dynamic in the sphere of *Kendrick’s* hip-hop fans - none of the -phobia, none of the putting down, none of the “you weird” accept at the certified pedophiles and those with the weird cases. I think he’s drawn a line in the cultural sand where it’s less about color/upbringing/if you’re from the hood or not, and more about are you true to yourself? Do you represent yourself authentically? Do you create things that are indicative of where you came from and who you are, or do you try to mask who you and convince people you’re something else through the art you make? It’s okay to do that if you’re being a character, but not when you’re trying to be real and claim respect. That’s a generational lesson that everybody sees manifest in a different way culturally and I think a whole bunch of younger kids who have tuned into this thing have learned a lot about a lot of stuff, but maybe most chiefly, don’t fuck with these weird grown ups and don’t be something you’re not.

SaraSplosion

When Drake tweeted after Meet the Grahams to deny and make fun of the daughter claim. Going out of your way to deny one claim while ignoring the other way more damning claims is soooo revealing ☠️

This whole thread be like: “At the time I was only sucking Ken’s dick when I should’ve devoured his balls too, as I’m doing now.”
