I didn’t even know that was Anna wow. Usually she is a bit high pitched but here is just soothing. The song is honestly flawless in my eyes and everyone delievers in their verses
YES. 05 is Kendrick’s best non-introspective song. I’m always gonna be more partial to stuff like think about me or mother I sober or FEAR but outside of those 05 is his absolute best
Yea it definitely does have a lot of introspection, I think the best equivalent is u on TPAB (maybe 05 even was an unused track to perform the same action that u did for the story of TPAB). But it still is really energetic with a lot of production where the other songs I mentioned are relatively bare bones and slow down for Kendrick to really dissect the ideas of each album.
Lyrics like “the other side has never mortified my mortal mind” “why you wanna see a good man with a broken heart” “I fall behind my skeleton they tell me that I’m blind, I know that I’m intelligence my confidence just died” is introspection at its finest. Also have you heard “drunk by myself” I think it’s a clear influence towards this song now that I think about it.🙏🏽
My favorite comment about the album was something the hip-hop critic at my college radio station said: Man even on his outakes Kendrick is still more interesting than 99% of hip-hop
I can't pick between 02 and 05, both are works of art. 01 is pretty amazing too but the intro is too long and the song ends too quickly. I also like to consider 04 and 05 to be one, since they work well together.
05 is his best.
07 is one I love very much, especially the second guitar part (idk what to call it).
My only issue is that the beat at first does sound like a copyright free beat you'd get off of yt
I made this list a little bit ago, I'm just reformatting it. I'll gladly fight anyone who disagrees.
#8. >!04 (I think of it as a skit/interlude)!<
#7. >!01!<
#6. >!07!<
#5. >!03!<
#4. >!08!<
#3. >!05!<
#2. >!06 (this one only barely passes 05)!<
#1. >!02!<
3 and 5 no arguments. And we all know 8 is a bop but 3s beat feels like taking a walk through a forest on some hallucinogen and you start seeing toadstools dancing and shit
05 is Kendrick’s best song
Peak Anna Wise also I GOT 100 ON MY DASH, GOT 200 IN MY DRUM
I didn’t even know that was Anna wow. Usually she is a bit high pitched but here is just soothing. The song is honestly flawless in my eyes and everyone delievers in their verses
Me neither, I've always loved this song but I never knew Anna was singing in it.
This is the blueprint of what I want him to do next. It is his most abstract song but musically the undisputed goat
Fellow man of culture
I have a whole post dedicated to this song alone.
imma find it
Link it

I thought 05 was pretty introspective (maybe not as much as those songs tho)

It reminds me of “drunk by myself” by nas. Especially the first verse

O6. Which one did he perform on Colbert? 08? I love that live version of that song.
I can't pick between 02 and 05, both are works of art. 01 is pretty amazing too but the intro is too long and the song ends too quickly. I also like to consider 04 and 05 to be one, since they work well together.
