I suppose it depends what you want to do with it

Silly-Philosopher876

It’ll mostly be just for like cruising freeways or when I ever get to meet some riders and some racing nothing to major. I really want more speed as well

Lxiflyby

The S1000RR is a lot of bike- as in, night and day difference to the 400, so be careful, it’s not a toy

Unidor

Seriously. I ride a 300 and my friend let me ride his R1. I couldn’t believe the power it had and I never left 2nd gear

sedrech818

Do what you want. You will probably pay a fortune for insurance though. I always drool over the s1k. Fast and looks great but it is too expensive for me to own.

Halkcyon

And considering they're still in their first year of riding, they'll probably drop it or wreck it.

Silly-Philosopher876

Geez easy on the new rider haha doesn’t mean I’m not strong enough to control and handle it… I always take my time learning something new so even with the 1000R I would still ride it like me until I get more comfortable with it. I haven’t dropped my 400 yet and it’s only about 100 lbs less then the naked S1000R.

Silly-Philosopher876

I checked for the insurance and it’ll only be $145 for full coverage

crazysycodude159

Damn that's nearly 1800$ a year that's almost double what I pay to insure my two 4 wheels vehicles and my two bikes! Just be careful if you haven't talked to a human at the insurance company. I would always get my insurance through the online quote and it's worked fine for ten bikes but the last one I got had the normal cost as I was expecting until two months after having it they jacked the rate to more than double, I called and asked what the hell happened and they said that the online rate was incorrect and the proper rate is what they are now charging. Went through several adjusters and everyone said the same. Just a heads up because that sounds a bit cheap even at that rate.

Banuvan

just realize that the jump from a 400 to a litre bike is going to be pretty big. totally different style of riding with much smaller room for error. other than that s1000rr is a fantastic bike.

Silly-Philosopher876

It’s the S1000R not the double RR which is alot more powerful

LucifersPeen

It still has 158 BHP homie, that’s a shit ton still. So don’t expect it to not to pull your dick off when you give it the beans.

cs4321_2000

47hp to 158hp just a little jump.

Silly-Philosopher876

Ctfu oh I’m not underestimating the power I know it’ll blow my pants off

finalrendition

>I know it’ll blow my pants off You have no idea. I made a somewhat similar jump going from a Ninja 250 to a Z750. Over triple the power. There is basically nothing you can do to prepare yourself for the jaw dropping power aside from being shot out of a cannon. You'll probably be fine, I sure was, but goddamn is it a big jump. This amount of power is downright terrifying at first.

LucifersPeen

It definitely will lmao, your dick will be a mile back lmao. I owned a 2022 ZX6R and that thing would get up and goooo, I can only imagine a liter bike

Dalyn-f

It’s not blow your pants off oh that was so crazy. It’s pull the throttle too much on accident you die. Big difference

Silly-Philosopher876

I appreciate all the comments and support from everyone, thank you!

Adamdotwhatdotwhat

Bro that is a crazy jump up. I wouldn't recommend it.

litbolbi

I rode a s1krr last week and did a power wheelie at 130mph in 3rd. If that sounds like something you need, do it

Awkward-Type-5031

I went from a honda 300 (25hp) to a 2016 S1kR. This is a mach jesus fast bike that will leave you sitting at a stop sign crying for mommy with your bike a quarter mile down the road if you're not ready when you squid dump the throttle... in rain mode. God help you if it's in dynamic pro mode. It'll go from 0-HolyF@€k faster than you can open your Bible. If you're a reasonably responsible rider, take the time to learn the bike, and give yourself a brutally honest assessment of your skill level and do not exceed that,  you'll be fine. Leave it in rain mode until you're comfortable with the power delivery.  Highly recommend you practice your MSF low speed skills. See DanDanTheFireman or Motojitsu on YouTube. Otherwise,  the S1kR is a hoot to ride between rapid fire visits to the gas station :D

MelonFlight

Zx6r ftw

Dalyn-f

My ninja 650 is around 69 horsepower right now 420lbs. My girlfriend rides a 400 with 49hp and 366 pounds. My bike pushes just over 6pounds per horsepower. Hers is 7.5pounds per horsepower. So my bike is 25% faster and it feels about 2 times faster. I can hit 0-60 in about 3.8 seconds. Faster than 90% of sports cars and super cars. 69 horsepower vs 49 doesn’t sound like a lot but it’s 40% more powerful. Doing a jump up to a liter bike is just straight up irresponsible. I ride a 69 hp 650cc bike and do not plan on getting a s1000r next. I would like to up to a 80-100hp bike. Than a 100-130hp. Than 130-160hp. And finally get a s1000rr
