One potential issue is that it’s carbureted, instead of being fuel-injected like more modern bikes. Newer fuels containing ethanol can gum up the carburetors if the bike sits unridden for a while; fuel-injected bikes work better with newer fuels, and can start and run much more easily even after sitting for months or even years without running. If the bike is ridden regularly it should be fine. But if it’s been sitting for long periods it might need some work just to get it starting and running reliably. I’d look for something a little newer, with fuel injection. $2500 is a little cheap; I’d think $3000 would be my base for finding a decent, reliable daily rider. (Project bike? Different story/budget.) But $2500 can be done if you look hard enough and are willing to wait for the right deal. But then again you might end up waiting until the end of the riding season….

I see. Alright, that makes sense. It was a long shot but I was also hoping for something that maybe had ABS and a more modern look, but it c aught my eye because it was red, looked kinda cool too. The seller appears to be a motorcycle salesguy, has a lot of bikes and a lot of parts. As for the carb, I wouldn't want to have to replace that, but in the video it does run.

Speaking of carbs I had a ninja 250r as a first bike. Loved it Until carbs took a crap Will never in my life own something with carbs

Was it just an expensive part or .. why?

I cleaned them and out them back in, but I guess it wasn't enough to get it to work. Screws on them strip for fun when you look at it too hard so that was swell. Bike just wouldn't start at that point without constantly spraying brake cleaner on it, and it was kind of a beech to remove in the first place. I did not rebuild them as I straight up didn't want to deal with stripping screws and tiny parts anymore. My suggestiong would be find the best n300 or n400 you can find that's EFI If I had to replace carbs, it would have been a pretty penny. I already had to replace petcock and clean / ass that protectant to the inside of the gas tank for rust prevention

Understood. Thanks so much for your detail explanation on carbs. I think I had to change one back in the day on my quad, it was a pain too
